Walking in another world – Chapter 460 – Majolica’s dungeon – 34F – Part two

At first the dog golem is pushed back while fighting a giant, but it learns as it fights, and manages to take it down without any problems in its defense.

I did have to change some equipment though. The dog golem is badly matched with the giants, and its attacks aren’t effective, so I’ll refrain from using it. I might bring it out only when I need its mobility. There’s also the fact that there are a lot of people and it stands out.

As for the humanoid golem, if I dress it and hide its face with a full-face helmet like a knight’s, it doesn’t look like a golem at first glance.

It’s kind of tall, but… Not unrealistically so. Actually, the equipment might stand out more. It might not be very adventurer-like.

Adventurers prioritize speed when picking equipment, so light, but tough things.

And then, we take a monster apart, to see where the magic stones are in their bodies.

“I can’t take them down in one hit like Siphon and Sera, so I guess I’ll have to aim for the magic stones if it comes down to me.”

Says Jin.

Magic stones are like the hearts of monsters, so destroying those and cutting their heads are the quickest ways to bring them down. But monsters also know this, and guard them.

There’s also the method of giving them a big wound that will kill them from blood loss.

“They’re closer to the necks, compared to orcs.”

“It might be hard to aim for them, because they’re so tall.”

Rurika checks the location of the magic stone with a serious expression on her face, and sees that she’s going to have to jump if she’s going to destroy the magic stones near their necks.

“Chris and Sera, it’s up to you.”

Says Rurika.

It makes sense, because jumping would leave her open for attacks. Taking them down reliably in one hit might be good, but I don’t think the risk is worth it.

I had already checked the position of the magic stone, but I make the golems learn it too.

“If the spear it’s using now won’t do, I might have to buy a new one.”

Or make it myself if necessary. Maybe I could also infuse the weapon itself with magic energy.

The idea is to use a weapon with magic energy in it, but the skill I use to infuse magic can’t actually infuse magic energy.

When I have the time to spare, I should look for a skill that lets me do that.

Sera doesn’t have a lot of magic energy, but if I could infuse her weapons with it beforehand, it should boost her attack power. Once that idea comes to mind, I figure I should have thought of that sooner.

◇ ◇ ◇

“We’ve been coming across fewer monsters. There’s no sign of them either.”

“Yes, none.”

Say Rurika and Hikari, who are walking next to each other.

I’m walking in front with them, and Geitz, Jin, and Orga are in the back.

In the middle we have the three magic users, and Sera and Siphon are positioned so they’re able to back them up.

The golems have gotten enough combat experience, so after talking it over, I turn them back into their cores.

I feel like I’ve gotten enough experience fighting giants too. And I’m assuming there are fewer of them as we get closer to the staircase because a lot of people are hunting them. There are at least thirteen groups out here hunting.

“I guess a lot of people really are here to get used to fighting them?”

“Probably. They’re around four to six people per group, so they might be training to take them down with few people.”

I whisper as I watch people hunting far away, and Rurika responds.

But there are others near them, so they’re probably going to run in if it gets dangerous for the ones fighting.

We can communicate via our dungeon cards, so I imagine they’re using that feature.

“We’ll probably reach the staircase tomorrow. Should we take a peek at the thirty-fifth floor and then go back?”

Asks Siphon while we have dinner, and that’s what we’ll be doing.

The next field is a forest, like on the twenty-fifth floor.

On the twenty-fifth floor, there were orcs during the day. They turned undead during the night, so we couldn’t rest, but this time there will be treants that mimic trees, so that might be tough on its own right.

I might be able to detect them on Map with Presence Detection or Magic Energy Detection, but I won’t know until we get there.

And when we do get to the thirty-fifth floor, we take a look, but don’t see much because of the fog.

I also use Map to look for enemies, but the area it shows me is smaller than usual.

Using Presence Detection shows me one kind, and Magic Energy Detection another kind of abnormal reaction. Are they the treants and silent killer rabbits I read about?

“This fog might be trouble.”

“Yes, and the presences of the monsters are weaker, so it’s hard to look for them.”

“Let’s read about this when we get back. There might be a way to deal with it.”

Siphon, Orga, and Jin talk about what to do next.

I agree. We should check in the reference room of the guild.
