Yuno is the first one to get tired after we start running, and we end up splitting our parties.
I take a tracking magic item from Siphon, and summon the dog golem for Chris and Mia.
It looks like Guardian Sword is having a tough fight, but the number of monsters is slowly but surely going down.
But just as I’m starting to think it might be all right after all, I see reactions from new monsters on Map.
Was it just a coincidence, or is this also part of a trap? I can’t tell from here.
I explain the situation to everyone while we run, but things aren’t looking good.
The members of Guardian Sword also change their movements when they realize this. They stick together and move towards a wall.
They’re probably making it so there’s less of an area to defend and minimizing damage, but that’s a double-edged sword, because it also blocks their escape.
Shouldn’t they just use a return stone to get out of there? Maybe there’s a reason why they can’t do that. Could it be that it’s like when Leila and the others couldn’t use one either?
A lot of things rush through my mind, but it’s frustrating how we can do nothing but run.
◇ ◇ ◇
Two hours pass, and the fighting is still going.
Unfortunately, now I’m also seeing reactions that seem to be from Guardian Sword disappearing.
And the number of monsters goes up again after going down.
This can’t be a coincidence, we have to assume it’s a trap.
I clench my teeth, and keep running.
We’re almost there. We should be turning back if we were just looking out for ourselves, but no one suggested that after I explained the situation.
“That’s where they’re fighting. We can go in through the left-hand corner. Chris, have magic ready.”
I say while preparing magic too. And I summon the humanoid golem.
The monsters are converging on Guardian Sword from the center of the floor.
It’s fine if I fire magic, but Chris’ spirit magic is so strong that it might hurt Guardian Sword, so she has to pick the right time.
We enter the room where the fighting is taking place, and the first thing we see is the backs of many gigantes.
Then we see a black orb in the center, with three shield wielding gigantes protecting it.
“Look at that!”
A gigantes emerges from the black orb, holding a spear.
“Is that where the monsters are coming from…”
“What do we do, Sora?”
I don’t know if it will work, but we should try magic first.
“Chris.”
“Yes, I’m firing!”
She fires the spirit magic she had ready at the black orb.
The gigantes try to block it with their shields, but they’re obliterated by the magic. Along with the new one with the spear.
“It didn’t work!?”
But the black orb is still there, and four more gigantes emerge from it.
“It produces as many as are destroyed…”
Does that mean only physical attacks work? Or is the way to disarm the trap somewhere in this room?
I use Magic Energy Detection, and pick up a suspicious reaction. It’s right in a space with no monsters.
“There’s a trap!”
Hikari finds it right away.
“Can you do it?”
“Leave it to me.”
She runs towards it, and the gigantes also start moving with their eyes on her.
Hikari is closer to it, but the gigantes is holding a bow and arrow.
I summon the dog golem and move to support her while sending the golem to protect her.
“Don’t think about it.”
The gigantes draws its bow, but Sera throws a magic infused axe at it.
Rurika also gets closer while throwing knives, and I move to support them with magic, while protecting Mia and Chris.
Chris creates a layer of wind around the black orb, trapping the gigantes emerging from it. It’s powerful magic, but she has to stay still to maintain it, so I can’t leave her.
Mia also uses supporting magic while moving to protect Chris.
The shield infused magic item will also protect her if it comes to that.
“Sora, over there!”
I look where Mia is pointing, and see the black orb disappearing.
Then I turn to Hikari, and see her coming back. It looks like she managed to disarm the trap.
“Chris, the trap was disarmed.”
“Then let’s take them down.”
Chris starts chanting, and the prison holding the monsters back starts getting narrower and narrower.
The gigantes try to push back, but are eventually crushed, and disappear.
