I enter the same conference room as always, and Ayane, who was watching the ceremony from afar, jumps out.

I take the small box, and pat Ayane’s head, which is lowered in a bow.

I can smell something sweet inside it. It looks like there’s multiple sweets, so let’s all have them together.

“It’s all right, I don’t like anyone else!”

I keep patting her, but Ayane steps away from me.

“Oh?”

“Darling, I’m sorry, but I’m going to have to be away for a few days.”

“Eh? Did I do something?”

Like over-patting!?

“No, I spoke to my mother about Aira, so I have to go home for now. Aira will stay here, so please command her like you did yesterday.”

That’s good. I thought for sure this was going in the direction of her leaving for good.

But it feels bad that she’s leaving. I already see her as a part of my team.

She hugs me again, and I pat her head again.

“That’s a total of one billion two hundred twenty-six million five hundred thousand. Subtract twenty percent, and that means your cut is nine hundred eighty-one million two hundred thousand. Seven point five percent goes to me and Maki, but this money that goes to exclusives also earns you rank up points.

So, that combined with the Super Strength from before means you have two hundred and fifty million, ten thousand yen worth of points. That’s part of what got you the A rank!”

“Ah…”

It’s gotten to the point where it’s so high that I don’t really get it anymore.

“Anyway, that clears the debts.”

“That’s what you have to say? I guess that’s Shouta for you. Nevermind the debts, this is tens of times that.”

“Firstly, I used this money for a contract for a home. There is a detached house between the dungeon and the station that has been customized to be used by an adventurer. There are also the kind of pastry shops and bakeries you like nearby, so let’s go there sometime!”

Maki is showing me a map of the house and its exterior. I remember seeing this, I pass by it all the time on the way to the dungeon. So this is going to be my new base… Not bad.

“Second, your equipment. We have some prospects. First, as a sort of payment for the requests, other branch managers will give us preferential treatment over high performance equipment. We can barter with them depending on the skills you bring as well.

We can hope to get artifact rank weapons someday, but for now, I have a list of intermediate and high rank longswords we can get. Tell me if you like any of them.”

Aki shows me a list of items that were either dropped in various dungeons or found in treasure chests.

Honestly, I can’t tell much from just seeing ‘iron’ and ‘steel’ in their names.

“I don’t know much about this, so I’ll leave it to you to pick from stuff they recommend.”

“Yes, got it.”

“Leave it to us.”

“Also, I’ve been wondering… What are treasure chests like? I’ve never seen one.”

That’s a word I’ve been hearing a lot lately, but apparently they only spawn after a specific floor, or from monsters with high enough levels.

Suffice to say, that’s not going to happen in Unlucky Hall, Heart Dungeon, the first floor of the supposedly safest dungeon in the world, or the first and second floors of this beginner dungeon.

Even if my Luck is through the roof, it’s not going to let me find things that don’t exist.

“That’s right, you haven’t…”

“I am a bit curious. What would happen if Shouta opened a treasure chest?”

“Yes, Maki… What would it be like? I mean, they’re literally treasure chests… But how far do you have to go to find one in this dungeon?”

“They aren’t found there very frequently, but it’s supposed to be from the third floor. It’s a dense forest without much monster variety. The only area seen as profitable is in the center, so a lot of adventurers walk right through it, but sometimes people wander away from the main path and find treasure chests.”

So I can find them on the third floor? Sounds fun.

“What do they look like?”

“They look the same in every dungeon, but become fancier the rarer their contents are.

There are four types in this dungeon, wood, iron, silver, and gold.

Gold ones are rare here, so you should be very happy if you found a silver one.”

That sounds like Aki has found them before.

Treasure chests… Will my Luck manifest itself in my ability to find things? Or will it be reflected in their contents? Both?

Now I want to forget about the rare monsters on the second floor and explore the third floor.
