Walking in another world – Chapter 510 – Golem wagon – Part one

“Thank you.”

“What, this is our job.”

“How are you going back?”

Chris thanks the drivers, and Rurika asks a question.

“We just have to hire guards here. We got a letter from Mister Will about the guards, so we just need to show it in the guild.”

They get to ride on the wagon, so this type of quest is popular.

The idea is to go to Majolica, but since some people might not want to go that far, they’ll negotiate.

“I’m just a little worried about meals after we leave. Elsa and Alto, your food was very tasty.”

The two drivers thank them, and they look happy. They were the ones who cooked most of the time on the way here.

Of course, we didn’t just leave everything to them, and took turns helping.

“But what now? Are we taking public wagons? Renting? Orga and Jin can drive. And if we’re in a hurry, magic beast wagons are an option.”

Rurika trembles when Siphon says that last part.

“Let’s just check the wagons first. With the tournament coming up, we might not even be able to ride them.”

The advent festival in the Holy Kingdom of Frieren comes to mind.

So many people were going to Messer, that all the wagons were booked. We were lucky to find one, where we met Leila and her party.

“True.”

We say goodbye to the drivers, and head to the north side of town, to check the merchants who have wagons near the gate.

As expected, a lot of people are headed to the Beast Kingdom, so all the wagons are booked for days.

In the Beast Kingdom, there is a city called Fors in the center, where the beast king lives, and towns to the east, west, south, and north.

That’s part of the reason why Rurika and Chris had trouble looking for Sera. And also, a lot of people play it loose, and don’t take a lot of records.

A town called Lak is the one closest to the border, but the distance means that once it leaves, it takes over ten days to come back.

That’s why there aren’t enough wagons.

“There is an opening for magic beast wagons three days for now.”

There will be magic beast wagons coming back from Lak in two days, so they’ll be ready to go after resting for a day.

Rurika has been saying they’re terribly uncomfortable, and that most people can’t stand them.

…I’m sure that would be tough for Elsa and Alto, so let’s not consider those.

That said, if we have to walk to Lak, we might not make it in time for the tournament.

I wouldn’t have trouble, and neither would the ones used to walking in the dungeon, but Elsa and Alto are a different story. And maybe Shizune too.

“Let’s just look for an inn for today.”

We find an inn, and I leave a Transfer magic item in the room.

I’ve made a simple golem wagon before, but now I want to make an improved version. I could go outside of town, but I would still draw attention, so I need to go further away.

My choices are the house in Elesya or the faraway town, where I could make this without issues.

When I say I’m doing that, we split into a group that’s coming with me, and one that’s going to walk around town. I could work alone, but apparently the others will be worried if I’m left by myself.

In the end, it’s Rurika and Chris who will join me.

“So what kind of wagon are you making?”

“I made a small one for six people before, but this time, I want to make a bigger one.

The issue is whether the golem can pull it by itself, but if it can’t, I’ll make another one.”

I answer Rurika, and use the materials I got in Prekes to make the wagon, make the parts with Alchemy, and then use it to put them together.

The most important factors are durability and comfort. Especially the suspension.

We need seats, since we’ll be sitting for a long time, and I guess I should make it so we can exit quickly.

I can prevent sneak attacks by monsters with Map and Presence Detection, but bandits can be hard to tell apart.

“How do the seats feel?”

I ask, and they say they pass.

Then I ask them to stay, and add more weight, and it looks like the golem can pull the wagon by itself.

The issue is that magic energy goes down pretty fast, so I’ll need to replenish it with Magic Energy Infusion. And so, I make it so it can flow from the reins.

“Will a wagon pulled by a golem draw too much attention? I should do something about its appearance, but what?”

I start making equipment with Alchemy for the golem, as they give me advice.
