I was reincarnated on an island where the strongest species live, so I will enjoy a peaceful life on this island – Chapter 141 – Why she came to the island

She’s a little weaker than Tiltue and Luna, but about on par with Katima.

Come to think of it, didn’t Katima say she was a high alfar?

As I’m thinking that, Edinburgh steps forward.

“We came here unannounced, so we will leave if you say so, but we have something to ask first.”

“Is it about the people who came from outside the island?”

“Exactly.”

“If you know something, can you tell us!?”

“…”

The high elf girl looks at me, or rather, at Snow.

Generally speaking, alfar worship earth, fire and darkness great spirits, while elves worship ice, wind, and light great spirits, but that doesn’t mean they look at others lightly.

Also, Snow was born recently, and even on the alfar side, she was seen as a very precious being…

“They are not here. Yes, they went further south before you arrived.”

So they’re there? At least it sounds like they’re safe, so Ceres lets out a sigh of relief.

“Thank you for the information.”

“No. Usually we would not do something as rude as turn away Miss Snow and her father, but…”

“Is everything okay?”

“Yes, we have the great spirits with us after all.”

She says before disappearing, without ever saying her name.

“It sounds like there’s a problem.”

“Yes. If there was something I could do to help…”

“Well, it would be up to them to ask. More importantly, let’s go back and…”

Says Edinburgh, but she suddenly stops, and we’re back where we were in the forest.

“…Good grief. If they can force us out, they could’ve done that from the start.”

“Hahaha, but at least we have some new information.”

“Yes! Hum, so we’ll just go south!?”

I check the map, and see there’s a lake further south.

When I first got to this island, my first priority was looking for water, so if I was stranded…”

“Let’s start by going here.”

“Yes!”

Ceres walks off, excited about the prospect finally finding Arc. We’re about to go after her, when a small hand taps my shoulder.

“Hn? What?”

“Snow can go down now.”

She was holding onto me like a small baby, but she’s fine now.

I put her on the ground, and she runs forward, full of energy again.

Her attitude changed when she saw Yggdrasil in that elven space, so did something happen with it?

Well, they said they’d handle it, and they didn’t ask for help, so we shouldn’t meddle.

“Don’t trip.”

“Yes!”

Ceres and Snow walk in front as we head south, and after leaving the forest, we end up in front of a large lake.

It falls short compared to the elven village we just saw, but it’s still a beautiful sight.

“Water!!”

“Ah, Snow, wait!”

Snow sees a lot of water that’s different from the ocean, and her excitement reaches fever pitch.

She goes uwaaah while running with her arms in the air, and Ceres goes after her…

“…”

“What is it, Edinburgh?”

“I’m just thinking about that high elf. Meeting her in person made me feel like we’re similar.”

“Ah, yes…”

“Not that it really changes anything, but still.”

“Maybe there are elves that know you.”

This island is a prison created by god to seal Wil.

Many strong races were brought here to kill her, leading to how it is now.

Maybe there are high elves who have been alive for hundreds of years who know her.

“Ahh… Even if there is someone who once knew me, I’m sure the high elves have forgotten.”

“But…”

“Are you confident enough in your memory to say you’d remember things from centuries ago?”

I guess not. I don’t even remember the names of all the kids I used to play with when I was young. There’s no way I’d remember hundreds of years ago.

“I guess not.”

“Even humans are like that, and elves mostly just care about a few things. There’s no way they’d remember.”

“Maybe you’re right.”

Edinburgh doesn’t seem to have a lot to say about what I said. She just has a lonely expression.

“But it did feel a little nostalgic.”

“Then for you…”

“Hn?”

“I’m sure it was very important for you to get to this island.”

She said that before she lost her memory she had some sort of clear reason to want to come to the Faraway Island… The Divine Island Arcadia.

There must be something here she didn’t forget in those hundreds of years.

“Yes, that must be true.”

“Do you have any idea?”

“Why would you ask that to someone with no memory?”

She says, a little exasperated. I guess she has a point, but she’s so cool-headed and calm about her memory loss, that I sometimes forget about it.

Well, judging by how the other seven great mages act around her, her personality is completely different now…

But would amnesia really change a person’s character that much?

Edinburgh seems to me like a caring person that watches her surroundings carefully. I can’t imagine her being the sort of tyrant they describe.

“There are positives about losing my memory too.”

“Eh?”

“Being like this with you guys isn’t bad.”

She says with a light smile, as she looks at Ceres go after Snow.

“If I met you with my memories intact, I would’ve probably taken hostile action against you.”

“Really?”

“Going by what the others say, yes.”

“Maybe that’s true, but I want you to stick around even after you recover your memory.”

“…”

It looks like she was taken aback by that, but she quickly smiles broadly, and giggles.

Seriously, why did she come here?

It was something she still wanted to happen after hundreds of years.

I really hope she finds whatever she wants after she gets her memory back.
