“Me, lose…? Give up…? Screw you! It’s not over yet! Don’t think you already won!”
Isaac was enraged by Yuugo’s advice to surrender, and attacked him with his twin swords, but… Yuugo easily dodged, and responded to Isaac as he pitched forward and fell.
“Isaac, have you noticed it? You’re out of breath.”
“W-what are you…!?”
Isaac knew he was breathing with rough shallow breaths, but he seemed to not understand Yuugo’s point.
Yuugo continued, while looking at Isaac’s expression gradually becoming more flustered and worried.
“Isaac… Can you move like you did at the start of the duel? I don’t think so. I think your stamina is doing worse than you think.”
“Stamina? No way. I…!!”
Isaac tried to deny it, but he noticed his hands were trembling as he held the swords, and realized Yuugo was right.
Sweat was pouring, his heartbeat so fast it felt like it was going to blow up, and his breathing was erratic. It all mercilessly pointed to the fact that he was at his limit.
“No way…!? It can’t be…!! Why, why…!?”
…Isaac was unfortunate in two ways. First, was thinking this was like the world of the game Luminous History.
There were the concepts of HP and MP in the game, but not really stamina. Game characters could fight as long as they had HP, and use techniques as long as they had MP.
But… After reincarnating, Isaac was a living human. No matter how good his stats were, if he went all out, he would get tired. If he kept using big moves, it would take a toll on his stamina. That was the first problem, that he operated under the logic of the game.
The second… Was being too strong. If he had fought a stronger opponent than himself, he would know his limitations. How much could he move until he got tired? How many times could he use those big moves before not being able to move anymore? He would have the opportunity to learn those things in battle.
But he never had that chance. In addition to the high firepower and mobility of his stats, every element was boosted to the point where he could take down enemies in one hit.
That was why Isaac did not know the limits of his stamina. He did not know how much he could use his techniques until he was exhausted.
His power was a divine gift given to the ones being reincarnated. He did not train like Yuugo, and it could be said that this along with his growing arrogance were unfortunate for him as well.
The moment Isaac realized this, his heart was thrown into disarray. And much like Zenon, once his spirit was in disorder, his body was badly influenced. In Isaac’s case, his already tired body was feeling even heavier, and his exhaustion much more severe.
“Dammit, dammit, dammiiiiit…!”
“…Let’s end this, Isaac. I don’t want to keep hurting you.”
Isaac’s power had already reached its peak in this duel. The moment Yuugo got through the special move he was so confident in, he practically had no chance of winning.
Isaac also understood this, but his increasingly arrogant spirit could not accept the defeat approaching right before his eyes.
“Screw… Yoooou!I’m strong! I’m not gonna lose! I, I…! I became the strongest when I got this sword! I’m not gonna lose to anyone, and I’m gonna do what I want! I’m the guy that’s gonna leave his mark in history as the lonesome hero! I can’t lose here! I’ll win! I’m not gonna lose! I don’t want to lose! I don’t wanna lose, I don’t wanna lose, I don’t wanna lose, I don’t wanna looooooooose!”
“Isaac…?”
Isaac kept screaming like a madman, leaving Yuugo concerned, but… His expression changed a lot under the mask once he saw the blades of Isaac’s twin swords being enveloped in a dark red blood-colored magic energy.
“No way…!?”
He remembered that magic energy. There was no way he could forget the threat of that weapon.
Why? How come? He asked himself that, but more importantly, his instincts told him to turn around and yell.
“Everyone get down!!”
Yuugo yelled at the top of his lungs, leaving everyone perplexed.
Right after, the magic energy released from Isaac’s magic swords exploded, creating an incredible impact in this dueling area.
