“It looks like Isaac’s condition has stabilized. It looks like you’re not seriously hurt too, so that’s a relief.”
“Thank you everyone. Sorry I worried you.”
After winning the duel, Yuugo rested in the infirmary with Isaac.
Isaac was spent both physically and mentally due to the effects of the magic swords, so he was still unconscious. But thanks to the quick healing, his life was not in danger.
Yuugo was also not exactly fine, but well enough to talk normally and move around.
Still, everyone was shocked by the revelation that happened in the middle of the duel, so it was hard to simply be happy that Yuugo won.
“Where did Isaac get those magic swords? Were they the one that Cross used and was stolen?”
“Who knows… But I do remember that ominous magic energy. And the techniques he used were similar, so it can’t be totally unrelated.”
“So they were either made by the same person, or the stolen magic sword was made into twin swords… I want it to be the latter.”
The people in the infirmary were the unconscious Isaac, Yuugo, Melt, and Angel. Phi was still not back from calling the guards, and Hercus followed the doctor that went to report about the magic swords, to help explain to the teachers.
And Claire took Zenon back to the dorm room after herself and Melt were done healing.
It was because of this that they felt free to talk about the magic sword being stolen, something that was a secret, but… After hearing Angel, Yuugo understood what she was implying and trembled.
“…If Isaac and Cross were using magic swords made by the same person, that means there might be a lot of these dangerous things around here. And if everyone that gets them ends up like these two…”
“That’s a hellish sight. We’d be lucky if panic throughout the city was all that happened…!”
Whispered Melt, as she pictured this and her face turned pale.
If what Yuugo said was correct, it could lead to a calamity. Someone making magic swords, the hooded person spreading them around, and all the people who got them turning mad.
She did not want this to happen, but could not discard that possibility.
And as they all thought they would not know more about this until they could ask Isaac, the door opened and Phi came in.
“Big brother! I contacted the guards!”
“I see! What about Jinba?”
“Well… Jinba is chasing another case, so I couldn’t talk to him. He’s supposed to come back today, so the person I talked to said they’d report to him then.”
“Really… Right at the crucial moment too…”
They wanted to talk to Jinba right away, since he had important information about the magic sword, but there was no way to contact him.
This bad timing, or rather, inopportune moment, frustrated Yuugo, but Angel spoke.
“Now now, calm down. I get how you feel, but Isaac is still sleeping anyway, so things aren’t going to progress until we can get information from him. And… You’re still feeling the effects of the flaming armor, so you need to rest.”
“An is right! The school will take care of the magic swords and Isaac! You need to focus on healing yourself!”
“…Yes. It’s when nothing’s happening that I need to get ready, so I can move when something is happening. There’s no point in getting flustered, so I’ll do what you said.”
The girls talked Yuugo down, and let out a sigh of relief when he agreed.
Yuugo also felt bad about using the flaming armor and worrying his friends, despite it being necessary. And everyone present felt relieved when he also said he needed to focus on healing his wounds.
“We need to talk to the teachers, so rest up today. And enjoy lying on a bed for once!”
“Oh, now that you mention it…! Sleeping under a roof really is nice!”
“Fufufu… We’ll get going then. We’ll talk to Claire and Hercus, so don’t worry.”
“Thanks!”
Yuugo was left in the infirmary as the others left.
A lot happened, so more time had passed since the duel started than they thought. Once they noticed this, they all went to their respective rooms, but Phi noticed Angel was going in a different direction.
“An? Where are you going? That’s not where the female dorms are…”
“Hn? Ah, sorry, but I’ve got something to do. Can you talk to Hercus for me?”
“Y-yes. It’s fine.”
“Thank you. Your big sister here will wash your back as a thank you, okay? Your noisy big brother isn’t around today so you can stay in my room too.”
“D-don’t make fun of me! Geez…!!”
Phi watched as Angel left while laughing.
He knew from watching her during the duel that she felt remorse and frustration over Yuugo using that flaming armor.
She was most likely heading off to do research to try to mitigate the bad aspects of that armor. That was why he refrained from asking where she was going… But Phi had no idea he would come to regret this decision.
