Darc accepts it when I say I’m from another world. Apparently he heard rumors that people from another world have rare skills.
Then Haine agrees to teach us, so we spend the day learning about the tools, and the basics of smiting.
“We’ll continue tomorrow. See you in the morning.”
Shun is tired when we go back.
“I haven’t stuffed so much in my head in a while. I’m tired. Are you doing okay, Sora?”
I can understand things through my skill, so I don’t really need to remember them. He calls me crafty when I tell him that, but what am I supposed to do?

“Are you going to the smithy again?”
Asks Mia as we finish having breakfast.
“That’s the idea. What about you?”
“We’re going to see someone Ryuryu knows.”
According to Mia, it’s the miko that succeeded Ryuryu’s sister.
I’m kind of curious about what she’s like, but I want to prioritize smiting for now. I can just visit her once while I’m in the village.
“But what are those packaged lunches for?”
“Ah, Siphon and the others asked us to do it because they’re going out with Leight.”
I feel like Geitz mentioned that last night too.
Leight said the forest has been strange lately, and since they’re going on an expedition, the others are going with them. Not just people like Siphon, but Rurika and the others too.
That means only I, Shun, Mia, Chris, and Shizune are staying in the village. I’m surprised that Kaede, Miharu, and Kotori are going, but I guess it’s because Naoto is also going.
Shun also considered going, but decided to focus on smiting too.
I heard him saying numerous times to look after Miharu.
“Well, Siphon and the others will be there too, so it will be fine.”
I say to the worried Shun as we head to the smithy.
I would’ve been worried too if this happened a while ago, but I’ve come to know how reliable they are, so I’m not.
Argo is also very experienced, so he’ll know if things get too dangerous and they have to come back.
During the morning, Shun is warned by Haine a few times because his mind isn’t fully here. At some point he slaps his cheeks to pull himself together, and his concentration becomes incredible.
Even Haine is surprised by how Shun understands everything he says, and follows procedures without a single mistake. He’s not even using a skill.
“Honestly, you two are good. You’re way better than me when I was starting out.”
Says Haine while we take a break, and beast people nod.
Shun is the one that’s incredible. I’m using a skill, so in a way, this is to be expected.
“Maybe we can be a bit tougher from now on.”
Says Haine, and Shun’s face twitches. But still, once we start working, he’s focused and brisk.
I listen to Haine, determined not to fall behind, and follow what he says while letting the Blacksmith skill help me as I work.
He has a lot to teach, like how to use fire and water, and how to hammer. And it changes depending on what materials we’re using too.
Haine also teaches us how to change the way we work when we mix different materials together.
It’s pretty strict, and I don’t know if this is really the standard, but I still do as he says.
I also can’t forget to consider what I’ll need while I work. The biggest problem I have is the heat, so I need to do something about it.
Cooling the room would lower the temperature of the furnace too, so that’s no good. I have to cool my body.
I’m picturing something like cooling sheets, but it’d have to be something that continuously cools me even in this heat.
I have an idea, but it would only work on me. I have a lot of magic energy, so I could turn it into water that protects me against the heat.
I give it a try, and it works, but… It brings other problems.
It’s hard to maintain for a long time, but I could probably do it just to cool off.
The problem is that as the heat of the furnace intensifies, I need more and more magic energy to cool myself, and it saps a lot of magic energy.
When I no longer have enough MP to maintain it, the protection wears off, and all the heat it was blocking rushes me all of a sudden, and makes me feel even worse than usual.
I might have to just get used to the heat slowly.
“Yeah it’s a bit hot, but I guess I’m used to it.”
Says Haine when I ask him about it.
“And you also know how strong the heat is by feeling it on your skin. It’s important to forge while communicating with the heat like that.”
He says.
Hm… The issue there is that my skill tells me stuff like the right temperature anyway.
