“So it really was you, Neid.”
“Why? How did you know!?”
Both glared at each other, with their transformations undone.
Neid asked how Yuugo found out they were there and burst his way in, and Yuugo explained it while taking a communications device out of his pocket.
“It was thanks to this. An has the other one. I lost this one a while back, so she installed a GPS or something in case it happened again… I don’t really get it, but basically, there’s a function in them now that lets us see where the other one is.”
“Communications device…!? No way! I checked when I brought her here, and she didn’t have anything like…!?”
Neid was in somewhat of a hurry, but he checked what Angel was holding when he brought her from the studio.
He yelled about how she had no such thing in any of her pockets, but Angel lowered the zipper of her overalls a little, and stuck her hand into her cleavage. And sure enough, she took out a communications device, and laughed proudly as she turned to Yuugo.
“See? Wasn’t it good that I made it a habit to keep it here?”
“Yes yes, let’s leave it at that. Geez, what a piece of work.”
Neid was dumbfounded, because he never thought a communications device could be hidden there.
Angel was not trying to hide it in the first place, but felt happy about her habit paying off like this. She then turned to Neid again, and spoke with a stern tone.
“Neid, it’s over. Give it up, and pay for your crimes.”
“You think you’ve got me caught!? If I go north, they’ll come for me! I’m not doing what you say!”
He refused to surrender, and transformed once again into that dark red demon, before flying outside through the wall Yuugo destroyed.
He jumped from one relatively tall house to the next, wishing to escape like this, but his body was pierced by a shining violet blade.
“Guah!? W-what…!?”
“You’re not getting away that easily! We predicted your escape route!”
Neid groaned with pain after being suddenly attacked, and when he looked up, he saw Melt aiming at him, and Phi.
He saw they knew where he was going and prepared an ambush. He clenched his teeth with frustration over falling for it, when Yuugo jumped down in his Blaster form, with Angel in his arms.
“Stop it already. The guards will be here soon to arrest you. You’ve got nowhere to run, Neid!”
Yuugo, Melt, and Angel, who got her magic item back from Phi.
Neid had the power of a monster armor beast, but he still saw slim chances of victory when fighting against three people.
Also, if he took too long, the guards would get there, like Yuugo said. That would make it impossible for him to escape.
He was done… Thought Yuugo and the others.
They hoped he would give up and let himself be taken without resisting, but Neid laughed with a dauntless expression.
“Ku, kukuku…! You think you won? How naive! You really thought I didn’t have a trump card for a time like this!?”
“What…!?”
It seemed Neid prepared something in case of an unforeseen situation.
He yelled and pointed, and when the others looked towards where he was pointing, they opened their eyes wide with surprise.
“Isaac!? Why is he here!?”
“Did you already forget, Angel? I said I just had to work it so magic sword users obeyed the person that produced them… It’s not yet perfect, but I worked the magic swords I gave him so he obeys simple orders.”
Neid was back to his human form, as he tapped Isaac’s shoulders and laughed. Isaac most likely took advantage of the confusion caused by the emergency deployment, and snuck past the guards.
Isaac’s eyes were empty, and he looked as though he was in a trance. Neid sneered at him, and when he hit him lightly with the hammer he was holding, Isaac’s body began to change.
“Uh!? Guh! Ah, aaaah! Guaaaaaaaah!?”
“Isaac!? Neid, what did you do!?”
“Just forging him a little. He was influenced by the magic sword plenty, but his form should be more appropriate!!”
Neid laughed madly, while Isaac let out a pained howl and gradually transformed into something strange.
Yuugo and the others watched on dumbfounded, as Isaac grew sharp fangs and giant wings, turning into a brown humanoid bat.
“How’s that? Isn’t this the perfect form for a traitor? Punishing him for his betrayal with my own hands makes me feel so refreshed!”
“Neid, you…!”
“Hey hey, calm down. It’s too soon to flip out yet…! Magic swords I made are all over the city. Dozens of people are holding my prototypes. I can’t turn them all into monster armor beasts, but… A word from me is enough to turn them into puppets who rampage and destroy everything.”
“Stop it! How many people do you think would get hurt!?”
Yuugo panicked in the face of Neid’s hidden trump card.
If everyone holding a magic sword went on a rampage, the damage would be immense.
Yuugo tried to talk him down, get him to stop, but… Neid sneered at his frantic efforts, and spoke maliciously.
“Sorry, when I reworked Isaac, I also sent orders to everyone!”
“Wha…!?”
When those words reached the ears of a surprised Yuugo, he heard screams.
Not just one or two, he heard the voices of a lot of scared people. And when he looked around, Neid laughed loudly.
“What now? The guards don’t have time to look for me! And… You can’t chase me either!!”
“Gih, gigiih!!”
With Neid’s yell, Isaac, now in his bat form, flew to the south of the city.
It was obvious what he was going to do. With the city already in a panic because of the rampaging magic sword users, if a monster started attacking, it would turn into a picture of hell.
“Choose, Yuugo…! Are you going to chase me and abandon the city? Or let me go to save them? Pick as you please!”
“W-wait, Neid!!”
Neid ignored Angel, and headed north, in the opposite direction of Isaac, to the one who would help him escape.
Yuugo looked at Neid’s back, then at Isaac’s as he flew to attack people, and yelled as if blowing away that gushing hesitation.
“I’m going after Isaac! We need to save the people being attacked, and suppress the people being controlled!”
“B-but big brother! If we don’t chase Neid he will…!!”
“I know! But…!!”
Yuugo understood why Phi wanted him to chase Neid. If he escaped and spread magic swords around the world, what was happening in that city would happen on a larger scale.
They had to catch Neid to avoid that. Yuugo understood this, but… He could not ignore the screams and cries of people around him.
“I need to at least stop Isaac before going after Neid! A lot of people are going to be victimized if I don’t!”
Melt and Angel could not handle the berserk magic sword users, protect the people fleeing, and defeat Isaac in his monster armor beast all on their own.
Yuugo decided to take Isaac down quickly and then chase Neid, so he ran south, and saw many people being attacked by Isaac and the magic sword users.
