After Gaius wakes up, we head outside the castle together.
The castle is complete, but there’s still lots of things that have to be done.
I’m still working on the magic energy vortexes. They’re not done being purified yet.
If we’re going to interact with outsiders more, we have to make sure they don’t get near them. They’re dangerous.
It would be sad if someone got hurt because they got close to a dangerous place like that around our country.
Also, if it happens multiple times, people might start saying it’s our fault. Even if we have nothing to do with it.
“Gaius, the castle really is big. It’s hard to even leave!”
“Yes… How about we run?”
“I could fly out the window too!”
Honestly, if I try to leave normally, it’s pretty far.
Apparently, princes and princesses are in their castles all the time. Don’t they get tired of it? Then again, I’m not used to living in a place like this.
I like going outside, so I don’t want to stop going outside even as more people come and the country gets bigger.
“Would that be good?”
“Yes.
I approach a window and look down. It’s still high, about three floors, but it’s not a problem with my magic. And since Gaius has high physical abilities, he can also just jump down.
But I don’t want him to get hurt, so I use magic to make him float down before he lands.
With the castle done, it’s time to build the town around it. That’s still a work in progress, but I’m also excited to see it.
“Gaius, it’s incredible how the castle is still big from the side.”
“Yes. I never thought I’d live in a place like this.”
“Yes. I would’ve never imagined it back when we met.”
I say while thinking about how nostalgic that feels now.
I met him right after being abandoned. I never thought about anything for myself, or about the future.
It felt natural for me to only know that small village, so I’m sure past me would be surprised to see me now.
The big castle… A bunch of things we piled together and gave form to.
It feels like a dream, like it’s not real. But it makes me happy to see it really exists.
“The castle really makes it feel like a country.”
“Yes. Our country.”
Just walking around this wonderful castle next to Gaius is fun.
He’s taller than me. I’ve been growing slowly too, but I can’t catch up at all.
Thinking back, Mister Athos was tall, so is Gaius going to be even taller? I can’t wait to see.
Then we go to the area where the town will be. People have been working in shifts, and they say hello when they see us.
“Good morning Miss Lerunda and Mister Gaius.”
The people who call us that are the ones from Rezzed, and the beast people who came from Migha.
Beast people see Gaius like some sort of god, and look at him with a shine in their eyes.
We help with the construction of the town. Using magic to lift things, bringing food to the workers, and lots of other things.
But that’s not all we do, we do things like hunting too. It’s important to get more food as more people arrive.
The miko is here, so it’s easy to grow food, but it’s still important to be prepared. It’s always good to have food.
Today, I’m going with Gaius.
We haven’t been together that much lately. It’s more effective to do stuff like hunting apart. But I like being with him, so I invite him sometimes, and he does it too.
I wonder how strong Gaius is getting both normally and in his wolf form.
I’m also polishing my magic, and Gaius can do more things than before. I can’t help but think he’s cool when I see how strong he’s getting.
We hunt monsters, bring them back, and turn them into preserved food and today’s dinner.
The people of Rezzed were surprised to see kids hunting monsters at first, but now they’re used to it. They just react with excitement when they see us. I think that’s cute.
