“Well then, who will be the next target?”
Whispered someone with an amused tone, in a vast dark space.
Lost, the person in the black hood who was responsible for the incidents happening in the Luminous Academy, looked at something, relying only on the purple flame of a candle for light.
Lost was looking at many cards hovering in the air. Looking at them more closely, they all showed young boys and girls, who Lost looked at in turn while thinking.
“They all could become first-rate monster armor beast material if they were polished. I really need to take my hat off to the main characters for supplying such materials one after the other.”
Lost mumbled while grinning.
These words seemed sincere, but at the same time, also seemed to carry a lot of sarcasm.
Those people, who despite knowing nothing, were as always, trying to trip each other up in an attempt to become heroes, were very funny.
They conspired to kill one of their own not too long ago, so for someone who knew that, the line between trying to become heroes or extraordinary great villains was blurred.
But it had to be that way. In a sense, they were also first-rate materials.
Lost was in a position where despite doing nothing, materials seemed to arrive as if on a conveyor belt. This was something to be thankful for, not grumble about.
Also… Despite Lost’s proper plans being stopped twice, finding someone more exciting than the main characters was a good result.
Lost was more interested in seeing what this person, who was in every way an irregular presence, would do. With an even wider smile, Lost picked a few cards, and grabbed them.
“Yes yes, like this? This one is easy, but the one I personally want to keep my eyes on is… This?”
Lost grabbed the card, and looked closely at the girl on it.
She had blonde hair, and an expression that seemed unique and a little robotic. Lost’s mouth twisted while letting out a little joyful hum.
“Let’s start the game. Can she be saved? No? Stay tuned…!”
――――――――――
“Yes! Nice, nice! Let’s leave it here today!”
Yuugo said with a bright tone in the academy’s training area, while wiping sweat off himself.
He exhaled, drank some water, and stretched, looking satisfied.
“Blaster still has room for growth, and there’s a chance to have new features, thanks to An and Phi’s work. The rest is up to how I use it, so I need to make sure I don’t slack off on my training.”
Thanks to frequent changes to his magic item, his henshin item, Blaster was now augmented enough that it did not seem like an old model.
But no matter how much stronger one made a magic item, in the end, it was all about how the user wielded it.
It was very important for Yuugo to train himself, in order to use his stronger magic item well.
Yuugo was well aware of this, so he had been training every day, after the wounds from the battles with Isaac and Neid healed.
(I got myself a trump card, but whether or not I’ll be able to move well when the time comes depends on my daily training. I need to be able to proudly tell anyone that yes, I’ve been training.)
He nodded to the sound of drums that echoed in his head… Rather, the sight of the purple oni making that sound.
Yuugo made sure to drill into his head the importance of that daily effort, and was leaving the training area, with respect and affection in his heart for the heroes who taught him all these important things… But someone stood in his way.
“Excuse me… Yuugo Clay, correct?”
“Eh? Y-yes…?”
It was a blonde girl with a bob cut.
She had a quiet feel to her, and her expression was impossible to read. She continued to look at Yuugo for a moment, and then continued.
“I have a favor to ask you. Can you listen to it?”
“Favor? Okay, what…?”
Yuugo asked her what she wanted, and she bowed deeply.
“Please let me be your pupil.”
