My Twin Sister Was Taken as a Miko and I Was Thrown Away but I’m Probably the Miko – Chapter 438 – The completion of the castle – Part seven

I’m so happy about being the king together with Gaius.

That said, I only told Miss Lan about it, I still need to tell everyone else.

The people that have been with us all this time are one thing, but will the people who came from Rezzed recently feel unsure about us being king?

We need to show we’re going to do our best in that position. I want everyone to feel safe knowing it will be all right.

And so, we go tell the people we know first, that Gaius said yes.

“Gaius, let’s start planning!”

When, where, how are we going to announce we want to be king. We’re going to talk to the others and decide all that.

But we also don’t want to just wait until then.

“Yes.”

Gaius agrees, so I go in his room so we can talk privately.

I also ask Freinet and Wea to make sure no one can hear us. After all, we haven’t actually announced this.

“First, our goals. We want this to be a place where we don’t have to lose anyone, and everyone can live happily. That’s number one.”

“Yes. Having a country… Means having lots of people with different ideas… We need to keep that in mind. This country might change even more as it gets bigger…”

“I agree, but we could also be influenced by what’s around us, and forget the feelings that are important to us…”

We’ve met lots of different people, and we’ve definitely changed at least a little. Maybe if our position and environment changes, we’ll forget what’s important for us.

Miss Lan told me this kind of bad change can happen.

“…That could happen. I said I’d be king, but I’m uneasy about it. What if people start making a fuss about me being king, I change in a weird way, and start being all tyrannical?”

“I don’t think that could happen… But it is scary to think about everyone being in trouble because of something I decided on my own.”

Gaius cares about this country and the people in it, so he’s worried about changing. I think the fact that he’s worried about that means it won’t happen.

But what if a decision I make leads to someone dying or getting hurt… That’s a scary thought. The position of king carries a lot of responsibility.

Mister Hicked is in that position, and so is Mister Shuongalve.

I think it’s incredible that they’ve been doing it all this time. I’ve read about kings that people didn’t like too, but… Sometimes I think those people are great because they’re able to do their job as kings for a time.

“Gaius, let’s make sure the other doesn’t forget what’s important for us. If you turn in a bad direction, I’ll stop you, so stop me too. I think that’s the best thing to do, if we’re both in this position.”

I say to him with a smile.

This is something we get to do because there are two of us. And if we’re both going in a bad direction, I think Miss Lan or the others will stop us. But first, we need to stop ourselves.

“That’s reassuring.”

“Right? I’ll be fine if you look after me. We can also split duties, but I think it’s better if we do everything together. I think it would be terrible if a person at the top collapsed, and the country was in trouble because of it. I’m the miko, so I think this place will be peaceful while I’m alive, but I don’t want this country to be in trouble once my life ends, so we need to make sure people are strong enough to protect it without me.

It would be bad if we created situations where there are things only one of us can do.
