“Hold on Lela. Why me!?”
“That’s what I’m asking. I’m shocked that my master caused such a grudge…”
“Sensei! She said ‘I will kill you, Loyd’ when she left!”
Wait wait wait, that doesn’t sound right.
Why me!? I really can’t think of a reason.
“Loyd! Did our Sephilia really get kidnapped because of you!? Damn you!”
Eeeek! Nero’s pissed.
And Iris looks completely bewildered.
“A-anyway, Nero. Please stop blaming Mister Loyd. He is just as confused as we are.”
Says Iris, and she manages to calm him down.
So Sephilia was kidnapped by a mysterious girl. This is huge. We need to get her back no matter what.
The issue here is that this girl has some sort of grudge against me. I honestly can’t imagine why.
I assume if there was a grudge to be had, it would be from my exclusive mage days… My picking rate was very low at forty percent, so we messed up a lot of requests because of it.
Surely some of the people putting out requests were upset. It’s not unthinkable.
That said, if we’re going in that direction, the possibilities are endless, so we should stick to the present and focus on saving Sephilia.
“Mars, Lela, tell me more about this kidnapper.”
“The most noticeable thing would be the oni mask. A pretty eerie one. I could tell from her voice that she was an adult female, but I don’t know what she looks like. Also, she was wearing a white outfit without much skin exposed.”
“Oni mask?”
“Yes, a red oni. Do you know who it could be?”
“Kind of…”
It was three years ago. There’s one demon I encountered in my exclusive mage days that fits that description. The highest tier of alraune, alraune queen.
White hair, red oni mask, and a white outfit that covers her whole body. I remember it perfectly.
She had a cold personality, and thought of us humans as nothing more than dirt. She basically said nothing when I first saw her, and immediately started attacking.
That alone isn’t that different from the average demon, but the biggest issue was her strength. It was trauma tier.
She was much more powerful than any demon I faced before, and could take multiple Explosions without issue.
That was a real monster. Also, being a demon meant she was very intelligent, and could deal with my magic appropriately, to the point where I was ready for failure.
But I still won.
She was very powerful, but had a clear weakness, so I weakened her a lot by taking advantage of it.
Sephilia probably lost because she didn’t realize it.
“I think the one who kidnapped Sephilia was the alraune queen I fought three years ago.”
“Alraune queen!?”
“That’s a monster of legend! That’s amazing sensei, you actually fought something like that…”
Eh? Legend?
I guess, come to think it, she was about as strong as Levithesis.
Looks like I created a new legend without realizing it.
“Hum, Mister Loyd. I want to save Sephilia, so will you please help me?”
“Of course. I feel the same way. Let’s save Sephilia together.”
“Yes! I will follow you anywhere!”
“Hey hold on! What is this nonsense, Loyd!?”
Nero moves around and gets in front of Iris with a flustered expression, and spreads his arms to cover her.
“You can’t take our cute Iris somewhere with something that dangerous!”
