Walking in another world – Chapter 628 – Monster extermination

As the meal comes to a close, I start negotiating with someone that deals with bird meat.

I manage to buy it without issues, and we’re also praised for how we dug into the meat.

Apparently the people who produce it are happy to see people enjoy it, especially with the fervorous way Hikari was eating.

Well, I’ve never met anyone who enjoys meat as much as Hikari either. But of course, she thought it was so delicious thanks to the people here that raised the birds and cooked them.

I pay with money and potions. They’re sold in the store, but potions really are valuable.

Hikari asks me to throw in detox potions too, and the person I’m paying is confused because I’m paying too much.

“Please keep producing that delicious meat.”

Says Hikari, and the producer accepts it.

“I sure will, young lady!”

She gets a strong response.

Yes, it’s thanks to the people of Yuan that we got to eat something so tasty.

Also, these potions would fetch a good price in stores, but since I made them with Alchemy using materials I picked, they didn’t actually cost me anything.

The next day, we take Rurika and the others to the viewing platforms, walk around town getting a tour of where the birds are raised, and after we have lunch in the inn, we leave Yuan.

The owner also gives us packed meals to have at dinner time, which we gladly take, and townspeople see us off as we go down the mountain path.

I bring out Map and infuse it with magic energy to enlarge it, but I don’t see any reactions coming from Elesya’s side. But I do see reactions of monsters in the forest close to the path.

The slopes are too steep on the Magic State’s side for monsters to live well, but since they are more gentle here, it seems they are more active.

“Sora, are you going to hunt?”

“Maybe? Apparently the people of Yuan don’t really hunt monsters.”

We heard all sorts of things after dinner last night, and one of them was that people of Yuan don’t tend to go out of their way to leave the town to hunt monsters.

But they do eliminate them when they come close to town, which means if we hunt, that won’t trouble them at all.

They could get monster materials too if they hunted them, but the problem is that they don’t really have a lot of experience. It could lead to damage, and depending on how big it gets, it could end up not being profitable.

That might have to do with why they need potions too.

It was especially bad during the period of a few months when the monsters that rarely appear started showing up once every month. Even travelers from Elesya who went there to buy meat encountered them a few times.

The adventurers escorting them took care of the monsters, so at least there wasn’t any damage done.

But this helps in our decision to hunt monsters like big boars and bloody bears that we encounter as we go down.

Needless to say, we’re not going deep into the mountain to look for them, but I give the golem instructions to go bait ones that are a bit far.

In the end, we take out close to twenty monsters in half a day, because some move in groups.

“So are we going to keep going down, or Transfer to the capital?”

Honestly, we’ve walked enough on the way here, and I’ve had my fill of the mountain scenery.

Also, if we go down the main road on Elesya’s side, we’ll be going through Physis and Epica. We’ve been there before, so I’m good.

“Yes. And Argo and the others are waiting too, so let’s just fly there.”

Says Rurika, as she looks at Hikari fidgeting a little.

There’s a place to take monsters apart in the mansion we have in the capital, so we can take apart the monsters we just hunted there.

Hikari doesn’t say anything, but I think she’s interested in that meat. And so, no one objects, and I use Transfer.

We land in the mansion in the capital and I use Presence Detection, but no one’s here.

We, the ones summoned from another world, were given mansions and slave servants, but since we are almost never here, they’re mostly free.

“Master, give me the monsters to take apart.”

“Let’s all do it. We won’t go through them all, but we can at least drain their blood. That way, we can do the rest on the road if it comes to that.”

That’s the part that takes the most time.

We agree with Rurika and start taking the monsters apart. And when the servants come back, we do it together.

This room can fit five monsters having their blood drained, so we’ll continue tomorrow.
