An exclusive mage who broke up with his alchemist childhood friend, wants to lead a slow life in a remote town – Chapter 122 – Director Jeru – Part nine

After that, he reveals who is. One of the four gods, Veda.

He led the angels in maintaining order in the heavens, and peace on the surface world.

“I see you’re a god, but why are you manipulating Mars and the others?”

“Basically, to use them as bait for the fairy dragon.”

“Eh?”

“The area where the fairy dragon is currently has what we call a white temple, which houses a transportation magic circle that leads to heaven. I intend to use these people to buy time to use it safely.”

God, order, peace… Veda’s objective goes against everything he said, which leaves me dumbfounded.

“No no no. Hold on.”

“I don’t understand.”

Iris and Lela are just as confused, and Veda lets out a big sigh.

“Good grief. Surface beings really are slow. You can’t understand even after my careful explanation.”

Veda’s expression shows disdain for us.

And of course, Iris and Lela’s reactions turn hostile.

“There are more important issues than understanding. I’m surprised you could even tell us you’re using our friends as bait.”

“A small price to pay to save the world. Don’t you also want to do something about Area Zero? We need to eliminate the evil angels ruling over heaven for that end. If they are gone, so will Area Zero, bringing about peace.”

He’s not listening.

I don’t know anything about what’s been going on in heaven, but he has a twisted way of thinking where it doesn’t matter what happens as long as he accomplishes his goal.

Even an enemy like Izekiel is capable of feeling the need to protect someone she loves, so when I look at this person possessing Mars, I see an evil god, not a god.

“Hou, do you intend to fight me? I am not at my best, but I can tell you I am not weakened to the point of losing against a lowly human.”

Declares Veda, and he manifests a golden sword in his hand.

“Eh!?”

“Is that… The heart of the sword!? Is it real…”

Iris and Lela are very surprised, but I’m calm.

“Calm down. Even if he’s a real god, that doesn’t make him any less of a bastard. We’re not going to lose to a guy feeding our friends to the fairy dragon, right?”

“Y-yes! Mister Loyd is right! As a representative of the goddess of order Emeraude, I can’t overlook this barbaric behavior!”

“I agree! I can’t let someone take Mars’ body and do evil!”

Iris and Lela raise their staves, and get ready to fight.

Veda moves first. He swings his sword, and a crescent moon slash comes our way.

At first I think about casting defensive magic, but then I remember what Sephilia said, and cast the beginner level spell Water Ball.

The Water Ball hits the heart of the sword, and they cancel each other out.

“Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!? Beginner magic blocked my heart of the sword!?”

Sorry, but my Water Ball isn’t normal. I practiced it ten thousand times a day, like a swordsman doing swings.

If the heart of the sword is the peak of a swordsman, my peak is the perfect Water Ball.

It goes without saying that this guy doesn’t know anything about me.

Veda is horribly shaken by his dear heart of the sword being blocked, and his next move is delayed.

I don’t let this chance get away, and cast Full Grow without chanting. I approach him while he’s still rattled, and hit him.

He doesn’t try to dodge, and faints after being hit.

Then Iris exorcises him with her holy power.
