An exclusive mage who broke up with his alchemist childhood friend, wants to lead a slow life in a remote town – Chapter 123 – Director Jeru – Part ten

With Veda exorcised, the brainwashed adventurers return to normal.

They seem to have lost their memory, and don’t remember the book.

Mars is no different, and he doesn’t even know why he’s on the Minerva mountain range.

“Ouch… Why does my head hurt so much?”

Sorry Mars. I punched you as hard as I could to take down Veda.

I don’t think he’ll have any after-effects after being healed with magic, but it looks like the pain is lingering.

“That should have taken care of it for now.”

Says Iris with a smile. That gentle smile that’s as warm as the sun brings a smile to my face too.

“Master Loyd, about what that Veda said about heaven. There’s a temple nearby, so do you want to go there?”

“No, let’s not do that now. If we get any closer, we’ll provoke the fairy dragon and we’ll be in danger.”

“I agree with Mister Loyd. I don’t know if Veda was telling the truth, but there is also the prophecy.”

“Prophecy?”

“Geez! Mister Loyd. Did you forget what I said during the fishing tournament (chapter 86)!?”

“Master Loyd is the type to not remember foreshadowing.”

“Don’t call it foreshadowing. And it was half a year ago.”

“Ah! The words you absolutely should not say to a woman!”

“Ehn, ehn!”

Iris is fake crying.

Good grief, I’m at a numbers disadvantage talking to two girls.

After this, we have a peaceful conversation as we go back the way we came.

But on the way back, a new problem surfaces. The fairy crosses through the sky above us, and lands in front of us, blocking our way.

“Eh?”

“W-wait…”

“Why is the fairy dragon here!?”

“Awawawawawa!? Please god save me.”

The adventurers panic, some fall on their butts and tremble, and some wet themselves.

This is unexpected, so I also freeze, and have a staredown with the fairy dragon.

(C-calm down Loyd. Just like last time and the one before that, if you don’t show hostility, it won’t attack blindly.)

My experience tells me I have a better chance of surviving it if I stand still, rather than do something bad.

But I don’t know if the other adventurers know this. And sure enough, one panics and unsheathes his sword, and attacks the fairy dragon.

The sword hits one of the fairy dragons’ front legs, but doesn’t do any damage and snaps in half.

The adventurer screams loudly.

This is hostility towards the fairy dragon, so it howls, and designates us as enemies.
