“Do all slime spawn rare monsters one after the other, or is it a feature of this dungeon…?”
I talk to them as I get ready for the next battle. And as I listen to Maki, the capsule machine glows.
Once it stops, I see the cabinet again, but it turned from purple to green.
So, the UR color.
“I’m curious about the sticker, but let’s leave that for later. Here I go you two, use the armor just in case.”
““Good luck!””
I make the gacha disappear, and go back to the front line.
“How are things?”
“Same as before.”
“It will be a bit troublesome if two come out.”
“We should consider retreating if it comes to that.”
“I don’t like that… I’ll get through it with Thunder Arrow.”
“That was quite powerful, but these opponents very clearly reduce damage. If one reduces piercing or elemental damage, it might not work.”
“Resistance other than physical…”
“Yes, resistance… It’s too bad we don’t know how good the effect of this Physical Resistance really is, darling.”
“I do have the ones that dropped before…”
“We can’t afford to be blindsided while I read it.”
“If darling’s trump card doesn’t work, it will be bad.”
Yes, no matter how great its power is, it means nothing if arrows don’t work in the first place. If the Giant Rock Golem had this Physical Resistance skill, it could very well have resisted it.
“It’s also getting harder to cut them, and if Aira’s knife can’t cut it, all we can do is use magic… I guess I would have to use a special Magic Missile?”
“Or carpet bomb them with magic.”
“If they have a weakness, we could use that, darling.”
“Rainbow would be weak to what element?”
“…I’m sorry, I don’t know.”
“Yeah, me either.”
We try to work out a plan as we wait, but we don’t have information about our opponents, and we’re short on time. We can’t sit down and think carefully either, so we don’t find any great plans.
But the smoke is still coming out.
“It’s taking a lot of time. Has it been ten minutes already? Is it because it’s over level one hundred?”
“Maybe. If it’s a special rare monster, then perhaps there are certain conditions…”
As Aira says that, it finally moves.
“Eh?”
I can’t believe it. It’s different from what I’ve seen so far.
The smoke coming out of the two Huge Darkness Slimes mixes to create one bigger smoke. It keeps expanding, and then flies extremely fast deeper into the dungeon.
“After it!”
““Yes!””
“Can you see it?”
“Yes, it was very big!”
“Master, look!”
Along the way, we spot more differences.
Normally, other monsters avoid this smoke, but slimes not only show no signs of wanting to avoid it, but jump into it. There are a lot more as we go deeper into the dungeon, and as they jump in, the smoke gets bigger.
It stops in an open area deep inside the dungeon, and releases tentacles to grab and swallow the remaining slimes. All we can do is watch from not too close.
“Darling… What is going on?”
“Who knows. I just know it’s bad.”
“Let us go with formation C.”
“Okay.”
“I’ll do my best!”
The slimes are all gone, and the smoke has stopped expanding. We take formation in front of it, and activate Adamantine Armor III.
Ayane is in the middle, with Aira a little further to the left, and me on the right. Aira and I will draw aggro as much as we can, while Ayane blasts it with magic and gives directions from the back.
I hear what sounds like something breaking, and the smoke stops.
I see cracks like an egg was broken, and shining rainbow liquid comes pouring out.
“It’s finally here.”
