Not long after my conversation with Miss Lan, a report about the King of Lunid reaches me and Gaius.
The people that came from Rezzed are working particularly hard. They’ve been collecting information like this since long before they came here.
A king has to think about stuff like how to infiltrate and collect information too. That said, when I talked to Mister Shuongalve about it, he laughed and said to let someone who’s good at it handle it.
Yes, there is a difference between people that are good at something and ones that aren’t. For example, collecting information calls for people that don’t stand out, among other things.
But if possible, I don’t want to let one person handle that alone.
I’m the miko, but people don’t try to make me do things by myself. No one pushes me to do something about this and that.
I’m surrounded by people like that, so I really want to treat them the same way.
“The King of Lunid really is up to something with his military.”
I say while frowning, as I lean on Reimar and look at the report.
What’s written here looks really unsettling. What makes me turn pale is how it says they want to use force against people that aren’t compatible with them. They’re preparing for it.
Is something like war going to happen… It makes me so scared that they’re doing something so disturbing without a really good reason.
I think hurting people and people dying is really terrible. Thinking about the dear people I’ve lost makes my chest hurt.
People fighting people… Means lots of sad things happening. I really don’t like that.
Even if it isn’t related to our country, I really don’t want that sort of thing to happen.
But my hands won’t reach other countries. Different countries have their own things going on in the first place, so I can’t just jump in anyway. It’s one thing if they try to take our country, but if not… I probably shouldn’t tell people selfish views like that.
I get that.
Yes, it’s all really complicated.
Relations between countries are never simple, and involve lots of people. That’s why it turns into fighting.
I want my country to stay peaceful, and for none of the people I care about to die. But the Kingdom of Lunid… What will they do if they find out about our country?
“Gurugururururu. (If they come for us, we will chase them away.)”
“You’re into fighting, aren’t you Reimar? I hope it doesn’t come to that.”
Reimar is standing boldly, even if there might be a war. Yes, it’s just like her.
I’m scared of that happening, but that’s what Reimar’s personality is like.
I’m sure there are people here who are more than willing to fight to defend this country. But there are also people like me who are scared of war.
…The power of the miko can heal wounded people.
What if I saved everyone when they were hurt? But I don’t know my limit. I might want to heal everyone, and not be able to. I’m sure that would happen if there were a lot of wounded people.
“Reimar. I still don’t know, but if something like a war happens… I might not be able to save everyone. That’s a little scary.”
“Gurugururururu. (If it can’t be helped, you shouldn’t worry so much.)”
“But I want to save people if I can. The problem is I’m sure I have a limit.”
“Guruguruuu. (Just do what you can.)”
“…Yes. That’s it. But what would really be best is if there weren’t so many people getting hurt. That’s what I need to think about.”
I don’t want anyone to get hurt, so I’ll think about what I can do.
If lots of people get hurt, I won’t be able to do anything. If I can save someone but I can’t, and then people ask me why, it’d be really sad. I don’t have the power to save everyone like that… And I don’t like it.
That’s why I think it’s best to take it back a little, and think about how to prevent fighting in the first place.
