On a certain morning, Phi went over to Yuugo’s dormitory so they could walk together to school for the first time in a while. Yuugo spoke energetically and tapped his chest twice, and thrust his fist forward.
He thought about putting his hair in a pompadour as a show of determination, but his already stern face meant that would just make him look even more like a delinquent. Forget making friends, people would just look at him from afar, so he stopped.
Rush’s incident and Neid’s magic sword turmoil had passed, and the now truly peaceful Luminous Academy could now start classes again.
Yuugo and Phi were happy about that, as they walked through an unusually quiet path… And found something that caught their eye.
“Onyah…?”
There was a small girl right in the middle of the courtyard… Her lustrous black hair fluttered in the wind, and she was about as tall as Phi.
She was probably also an elementary school student, and Yuugo could not stand idly by as he watched her do something as dangerous as walk around with her eyes closed, so he rushed towards her while speaking.
“Hey you! Wandering around like that is dangerous!”
“Oh?”
The girl turned towards him.
Her face was young and well put together, and exceptionally cute. Phi’s heart raced when he saw it.
Yuugo saw the look on his little brother’s face, and asked if he knew her, to which he shook his head.
Yuugo thought that a girl this cute would probably be known to elementary students, as the girl approached them and spoke.
“I’m sorry, I got a little carried away. Thank your for you concern.”
“D-don’t apologize, but you should walk with your eyes open. You don’t want to trip and fall…”
“Ah… I’m sorry, I can’t open my eyes. Please understand that I am not just fooling around.”
“Eh…!?”
Phi gasped as the girl said that with a smile.
He felt guilty upon realizing she was blind and he just committed a blunder, but the girl responded with a bright tone.
“Don’t worry, I’m used to it. Also, I can see even if not with my eyes. Are you two brothers? I can sense an air of kindness and heroism. And that you get along quite well!”
Said the girl with a bright expression, after pressing her finger on her forehead and frowning.
She supposedly could not see, so they were surprised by how she accurately turned her face towards theirs while speaking. But then they heard a different voice.
“There you are, Yui. Don’t just wander off on your own because this is all new. It’s dangerous.”
“I’m sorry big brother. I just couldn’t sit still…”
“I understand, but you can’t wander on your own in a new place. You’re not bothering these people, are you?”
“Eh? N-no, she isn’t, right!?”
Said Yuugo to Phi.
“N-no! We just spoke to her, it’s not like anyone did anything…”
“Hahaha, you’re nice people. She might not look like it, but she’s kind of a tomboy. The moment I take my eyes off her, she’s gone away somewhere. If you didn’t speak to her, she would have wandered somewhere, and it would have taken me even more time to find her. Thank you.”
Yuugo watched him as he thanked them with a gentle smile.
His well put together face did resemble his little sister’s, but rather than cute, he came across as masculine.
His body was tall and firm, but even aside from that, Yuugo felt a strong aura he could not quite describe.
“H-hum, you said it was your first time here. And you have that katana on your waist, so… Are you the exchange students from Yamato…?”
“Hn? Ah, yes. You’re sharp, if you know about katanas at your age. My sister should learn from you.”
“Geez, big brother! My grades were good enough for me to accompany you here!”
The girl puffed her cheeks, not happy with what her big brother said.
As he heard this, Yuugo’s eyes turned to the green scabbard with a golden dragon on the big brother’s waist. He thought to himself that it really was a katana, as he turned back to the young man’s face.
“…We haven’t introduced ourselves. My name is Renjou…”
“Big brother, people say their names before their surnames here. We are exchange students, so we should follow their customs.”
The young man smiled awkwardly at his little sister’s harsh remark.
He cleared his throat, and started again.
“Well then… My name is Ryuuga. Ryuuga Renjou. It’s nice to meet you, as someone who will also strive to improve himself in the same school.”
