Walking in another world – Chapter 669 – Unfascinate eye

This time, we got a kijin eye, that I put in the Item Box.

I don’t see any reactions nearby on Map, so now we’re discussing what it was like to fight kijin.

“Sora, did that kijin have an eye with the paralysis effect?”

“No doubt about it.”

I say to Rurika with confidence. I used Appraisal, so I know for sure.

I also tell her that someone was hit with it multiple times during the fight, but it wasn’t that much.

This battle was shorter compared to the two-eyed kijin, but I don’t think it could use that effect in succession, because it took a while between someone becoming paralyzed and that effect being used again.

“I had no idea.”

“Yes, I didn’t notice it.”

Sera and Hikari didn’t notice the paralysis at all, and the same goes for Rurika.

I can deduce from what they say that when a kijin uses the paralysis effect, it doesn’t work immediately. Well, that’s what happened this time anyway.

Mia cast Recovery right away, but I assume they would know immediately if something was off about them. I get the feeling that this paralysis effect is similar to Hikari’s dagger, which has a delayed effect and gradually gets stronger.

No, that paralysis effect was weak, and I only noticed it when it got stronger as she kept cutting.

But in any case, back then, before I knew it, my body wasn’t moving well and I was in danger.

If I didn’t learn Status Ailment Resistance, my adventure in this world might’ve ended there.

“What did you think of them?”

“They’re fine if we’re ganging up on one. There’s also the fact that it used a sword. And Sora said its eye trembles, right? That was a little hard to tell.”

According to them, the kijin felt stronger than a goblin lord, but weaker than an orc lord or an ogre lord. But it might be more resilient than the others.

It took a hit from Chris’ spirit magic head on and was practically unharmed, so it must have been pretty tough.

And apparently they weren’t always aware of the trembling. I have Parallel Thinking and Memory, but I guess it would be hard for them to keep an eye on that while fighting.

That would make it hard to foresee or prepare for it.

“We’ll just have to get used to it while we fight. And maybe we can find other signals as we go. There’s also how frequently they use those effects. Well, we don’t have to rush, we can take it easy. And apparently those effects only work in the direction they’re facing, right?”

Says Argo while lightly tapping my shoulder. It’s true, the effects of the magic eyes only worked on the people they were facing. I didn’t see it casting on someone out of its sight even once.

It was the same with the two-eyed kijin. Although that one had to swing its sword.

“I’m going to make a magic item to resist Fascinate, so can we take a break?”

“Yes, please do.”

I grab the kijin’s eye, the other kijin’s magic stone, an all-purpose medicine, and activate Creation.

I infuse magic energy as I go, and the magic item is complete before long.

Unfascinate eye, protects from Fascinate.

“…Who will equip that?”

Asks Mia.

Hm, it’s just an eye, so it does feel grotesque, and I can imagine someone feeling creeped out about wearing it.

There are also red streaks in the eye, like it’s bloodshot.

Everyone’s eyes are on Mia, Sera, and Argo.

Mia can heal, and Sera and Argo are strong.

“…How about you try it first, Argo? You’d be the one who’d cause the most trouble if you went berserk.”

“That’s true. It’d be really hard to hold this guy down.”

Argo’s party agrees with me, so he takes the unfascinate eye, and hangs it from his neck.

“That’s enough resting, how about we get going? Where should we go next, Sora?”

I check Map.

Apparently kijin call for nearby kijin when a battle starts.

With that in mind, I want to target ones that are far from others… But they always seem to have reactions around them.

We can just take them down fast, but if we take too long, we’ll be fighting multiple kijin.

But there’s no point in worrying about that. We should just be ready for it.

I tell everyone what I see on Map, and we get moving.

I’m in front with Rurika and the others, and Argo’s party is behind us.

Our footsteps echo in this rugged and hard terrain, and I get this feeling that the nervous air around us gets more tense with each step.

This looks just like the last floor, but it feels completely different. It’s more oppressive.

Is it because it’s the last floor? No, it wasn’t like this in Majolica.

And then, the shield covering me disappears.
