“First, I want to thank you. If it wasn’t for you, this situation would have become extremely chaotic. I feel thankful that you defeated that rampaging monster instead of us teachers, and ashamed. Thank you, and I’m sorry.”
“Please stop, Mister Castle. You weren’t the one who summoned that gigantes, Miss Nira was the one responsible. You don’t have any reason to lower your head and apologize.”
“I agree with Yuugo, please raise your head.”
“…Sorry. You had to deal with all sorts of trouble.”
After the test had to be suspended because of gigantes’ rampage, Yuugo and Ryuuga were called to Castle’s private room.
Thankfully, no one was badly hurt, and the students who fainted due to the Howling were all awake.
Yuugo was relieved to hear Melt was not particularly affected by the Howling.
But he also thought that this incident was no accident, it was purposefully orchestrated. He asked Uno about it… But he did not know much.
He also thought someone had interfered and made gigantes go wild, but had no idea who, why, or how they might have infiltrated the school.
If they were after the exchange students or trying to hurt the students taking the test, the way they were controlling gigantes was odd. And without knowing what the motive might be, it was going to be hard to investigate.
“…The school has given instructions to keep quiet about this. We contacted the guards and are planning to investigate, but it will all be done under secrecy. They want the people who were present to keep it to themselves.”
“Got it! I’ve zipped up my mouth!”
“Sorry… Forgive us for making it as if what you accomplished never happened.”
“What are you talking about? We didn’t fight gigantes so people could tell us we did a good job. We fought that thing because we couldn’t let it run loose, and to protect a lot of people. Right Ryuuga?”
“Yuugo is right. What matters is that everyone is safe. In fact, if there was so little damage that the incident can be kept a secret, I’m happy to hear it.”
“…Hm. You wouldn’t think you two met just this morning, you really know how the other feels. Then there shouldn’t be a problem.”
Yuugo and Ryuuga responded to Uno’s apology by stating that they did not fight for glory.
Uno whispered, sounding happy about their response, and spoke to them after raising his head.
“Yuugo Clay, Ryuuga Renjou… From now on, you’re going to be a team.”
“Team? With Ryuuga? What kind of team?”
“Just in general. You have good chemistry and you’re evenly matched when it comes to power. If you team up, I’m sure you will be a good influence on the other, and will become stronger for it. And since you’re the only one who seems willing to team up with Renjou, the decision practically makes itself.”
“I see, Yuugo and me… I don’t mind. I’m happy even.”
“I’m happy too, but… Are you sure? Won’t some people get annoying again if you pair an exchange student with someone like me…?”
“Miss Nira is the one at the top of this, and I already have her consent. She already allowed you and Renjou to be put together during the test, so she won’t be more annoying about it than necessary.”
Yuugo was somewhat unsure about this team up, but was reassured when he heard Uno had already put the wheels in motion.
Ryuuga seemed to have no complaints either, so under Uno’s guidance, they exchanged a firm handshake and became a team.
“Well then, we’re a team now. Nice to have you onboard, partner!”
“Haha, same to you.”
“So about Renjou’s dormitory… Can you share a room with Clay? You should understand each other better if you live together.”
“Got it! I thought that room was too big for one person!”
“Thank you, Clay. I’m sure you’re still struggling with your memory loss.”
“Memory loss? Is that true, Yuugo?”
“Ah… I’ll explain that when I show you the room. It’s not that big of a deal, so don’t worry.”
Yuugo smiled awkwardly, as he remembered that he never told Ryuuga about that.
They were done talking with Uno, so they left and headed to the fifth dormitory, when Ryuuga suddenly stopped.
“Ryuuga? What is it?”
“…Yuugo, you’re a good guy. I just met you, but Yui trusts you too. And you’re going to tell me about your memory loss too, right? Then… I also have something to tell.”
Ryuuga sounded serious, as he looked directly at Yuugo.
Yuugo also faced Ryuuga directly, who started speaking.
“It’s about why I’m here as an exchange student, and why Yui became blind… It will be a little long, but please listen.”
