Trill asked Yuugo and the others a question with the same condescending tone as a know it all doctor asking children.
And how did they respond…?
“Eh? Nah, I don’t really like any insects.”
“I hate them actually. So annoying, flying around when I’m trying to work.”
“If we are talking about beings with shells, crabs are tougher and stronger! So obviously, crabs are above insects!”
“Don’t ask me questions.”
“Nooooo!!”
“Aah! You broke my brother’s heart with your cruel answers!! Pull yourself together, big brother!”
…The cold responses that loudly lambasted his dear insects made Trill crumple.
His sister Riel tried to cheer him up, but he would not recover so easily. Meanwhile Yuugo, the only one giving any sort of serious thought to the question, mumbled as he considered it.
“Hm… Favorite insect… I don’t know a lot about them, but I like many…”
“Hou!? Hohou houhou!? You show promise! That’s good, yes yes!”
Trill found one ray of hope and stared at him, and Yuugo simply stated his response seriously.
Insects were a pretty popular motif for heroes. Even the first masked hero who rode a steel machine had a grasshopper motif.
There were many more combined forms and mecha in the shape of insects, so thinking about it through the lens of hero motifs made it a tricky question for Yuugo to answer.
Leader type bee? A free and unfettered dragonfly? A sharp scorpion was not bad either. But he liked the noble grasshopper… After a lot of thinking, and adding his interests as a boy to his thoughts as a hero otaku, he narrowed it down to two.
“Rhinoceros beetle and stag beetle…? Those would be the ones a guy likes, right?”
Slick shell with a strong horn, or two sharp horns? Rhinoceros beetle and stag beetle.
These insects found all over the world had a charm with a strong grasp on the hearts of children.
Both were often referenced as motifs for heroes, so they were popular.
Lately, it seemed stag beetles were more often used, but combining them with other insects would break the budget… Was all a hero otaku like Yuugo could think about, but Trill’s eyes lit up.
“Wonderful! You really show promise! To be honest, I also believe rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles are the best…! They possess wonderful strength worthy of being called the kings of the insect kingdom, and I marvel at them every day!”
“A strong horn that can lift and flip over enemies! Sharp horns that can grab and throw an opponent! Both are wonderful and cool!!”
“…Yuugo, what are you doing? Your careless answer flipped a weird switch in them,”
“Hn… Apparently. But I don’t think we need to worry that much.”
There was nothing more annoying than an otaku with this switch flipped. As an otaku himself, he knew this very well.
Trill and Riel started talking about insects with fervor again, prompting Marcos to react with a weary tone. But as Yuugo responded to him, Trill continued.
“You need to hear more wonderful things from us! If you do, I’m sure you will realize how wonderful insects are!”
“You’re lucky! Being chosen by my big brother is truly fortunate!”
“Ah… I appreciate the thought, but we’ll have to leave that for another time.”
Said Yuugo to the two siblings who approached him, while pointing behind them.
They turned around, and saw a group of security guards of the insectary running towards them.
“Can we talk? You’re bothering the other guests, so come over here.”
“Oh oh oh? Ooooooooh…?”
“Good~bye~! Until we meet again~!”
Both were immediately captured by security and waved as they left, and Yuugo sighed.
His friends were also left in awe and confusion of Trill and Riel, and spoke with exasperated expressions.
“What was that? I get getting excited about your interests, but that was way too much.”
“Hahahahaha… Well, some people are just like that. Just be glad they unloaded on us.”
“Yes. This problem’s solved, so let’s go report. Back to our post.”
Said Angel.
They were all annoyed that these strange people decided to show up that day of all days, but Marcos and the others were also glad that the problem was solved without much issue, as they spoke to each other.
Angel reported using the communications device provided to them, but as they were going back to their post, Melt realized Yuugo had stopped.
“What is it Yuugo?”
“Nothing, it’s just…”
Yuugo responded vaguely, with a sad expression.
Melt gulped as she saw his face in profile and sensed something sad in it, and he continued with his face downcast.
“…Hearing all that just made me think about some things.”
“About what?”
She had no idea how that could have made Yuugo make that face.
Still, Melt approached Yuugo, feeling he was sorrowful about something. And as she stared at him, he looked into the distance and whispered.
“…I wonder how the new sentai turned out…”
“Yes, I’ll go on ahead then. Come join us when you feel calmer.”
She did not understand it very well, but she did know one thing. This was Yuugo when he got weird.
It was best to leave him when he was like this. The moment she made this decision, she cooled her head, and joined the others while Yuugo looked into the distance.
“Hearing about stag beetles and kings reminded me of it… Judging by the latest developments, it would make sense for it to have reached the point where a new ranger joins the others… Wait, time might flow differently between worlds, so I wonder…”
Yuugo was left alone, whispering questions no one could answer, having only preview information of the new show, but imagining its heroes working and wishing he could have burned it into his eyes.
As he wondered if some sort of mistake could possibly make it so it would air in this world, he ran back to his friends.

If you look at the first chapter, you’ll see it was released on January, while King-Ohger episode 1 was broadcast on March. Which mean that actually bro was only seeing this brand new upcoming program from the promotional material only to died without seeing any smidgen of the show, even more tragic.
BTW, this chapter was originally released on July 15th 2023, a day before Ep. 20, which at that point all the core member and sixth ranger was introduced and the team was properly formed, which is why author could mentioned it here.
