“Nu, guuuuuuu…!!”
Yuugo’s answer deeply hurt Trill’s pride.
He surpassed humans and evolved into a superior being… Was what he kept saying to himself, so being pushed back by someone calling himself only human completely took away his cool.
He should not be losing. There was no way he would lose.
He attained wonderful power that surpassed humans, he said to himself again and again to rouse himself, and he attacked Yuugo while howling.
“Don’t underestimate me!! I’m a chosen being! One of a few who surpassed humans and has the potential to evolve further! I’m not going to be looked down on by the likes of you!!”
He thrust with the buckler on his left arm, and charged while holding up his straight sword.
Part of it was shattered, but he could still make use of the hard armor covering his big body for a powerful tackle. Being hit with it head on would cause a lot of damage.
The best option would be to dodge it, but… Trill knew how to take that option away.
“Just try and dodge it! I’ll hit those kids behind you instead!!”
Yes, there were children behind Yuugo, and they would be hit if Yuugo dodged.
A tackle by a monster armor beast carried a lot of force. Even just barely being hit would cause a big wound, so there was no doubt a head on collision would be fatal.
A twisted grin formed on Trill’s face, as he knew Yuugo would have no option but to try to stop him.
(I won! You were never going to beat me while being held back by those kids! Your naivete was your undoing!)
Sure enough, Yuugo was not preparing to dodge, he readied to receive the tackle head on.
Trill imagined how he would be blown away into a wall and smacked against the floor in just a few seconds, and focused even more power at the moment of impact, but…
“…W-wai…?”
The impact came in a different form than he expected.
Trill imagined something like a ball being hit by a bat, but… What he felt was a dull impact, like his whole body hit a giant clump of iron.
But more importantly… Yuugo was not blown away. He grabbed his shoulders and stopped him.
Trill was completely baffled by how the violet armor in front of him stopped the tackle he executed with everything he had.
“…That’s it? Then it’s my turn.”
“Eeh…!?”
Trill was hit with the same words he said earlier, and his whole body froze with fear.
Not only did the defense he trusted so much fail him, but the power he was so proud of lost to Yuugo’s. All he could do was be beaten helplessly.
“Au! Ah!?”
One… His buckler was flung away, and the right arm that meaninglessly held the sword up was hit mercilessly in the elbow joint.
The uppercut bent it in a direction it should not, and with a dry cracking noise, the feeling on his arm went dull as the sword slipped onto the floor.
“Bupeh! Boou!!”
Two… Left and right hooks rained on his unprotected face.
Trill’s vision shook violently, making him dizzy, and his whole body became flaccid as he crumpled.
“Gabeh!?”
Three… He was kicked in his wide open torso, making him bend as he flew back.
As the toughness he relied on so much failed him and he was terrified, he took out his final trump to attempt to escape this situation.
“Monsters! Attack the kids! Hold him back!!”
Trill shrieked, thus was the volume and desperation in his voice.
The monsters hiding in the ceiling answered by falling on the children to attack them.
Uno noticed this and attacked several of them, but… He could not eliminate them all.
The children screamed, and as Yuugo looked back, Trill ran as fast as he could.
(Strategic retreat! I’m still getting used to this body, this power! Once I am in full control of the power of level 2, I won’t lose to that kid!)
Surely it was because he had only recently awakened to this power. He did not really lose, he told himself as he ran and ran.
He would have his revenge once he got used to the power of level 2 and joined his sister… He thought as he desperately ran, but let out a foolish sounding voice when he saw something he could not believe.
“Ah…?”
He just blinked… He closed his eyes for less than a second, and suddenly he saw Yuugo’s back in front of him, sending him into complete panic.
He was supposed to be fighting the monsters attacking the children, thought Trill as he turned around, and he gulped in shock as he saw his minions in the air, in flames.
“That trump card of yours is less than a two pair. I’ve seen all your cards, and it’s time for the showdown.”
“W-w-wha… You were over there!”
He screamed as loud as he could to Yuugo, who had a scarf of flames around his neck.
His legs were not stopping, and all he could do was run towards Yuugo.
Yuugo crushed the cowardly trump card that was using children as a shield with his own trump card, the flaming armor, and he infused his left leg with magic energy.
The magic energy flowed to his chest, passing through the flame magic crystal and gaining even more power. The magic energy swelled, and Yuugo whispered while the eye parts of Blaster shined.
“Blaster Kick…!!”
The magic energy continued to swell as it flowed from the left leg to the helmet, and suddenly ran down to the right leg.
The flaming right leg shined with a crimson light, and the last thing Trill felt as he ran right into his defeat, was a hot impact on his face.
“M-m-my sisteeeeer!?”
It was likely only Uno was skilled enough to be able to see this move.
It was too fast, sharp and powerful, and this roundhouse kick to the face robbed Trill of his consciousness.
After his last scream, the flaming magic energy that hit him exploded, and Yuugo reached out and grabbed the horn that had been broken with a high kick, and crushed it.
“Sorry… I win this beetle showdown.”

From a reply to a fan comment about the upcoming arc by the author(I had to use gg translate because of my bad English)
“Regarding Arc 3, I’ve decided to make the theme “revenge.”
The perpetrators of this crime were also motivated by revenge against those who didn’t acknowledge them.
Egos will likely begin his selfish revenge from this point on.
And as fans of Sunday Morning Morning will likely notice, Ryuga was also initially driven by a desire for revenge, just like *******
I can’t say too much about it to avoid spoilers, but this chapter also explores what Yuugo, who has been exposed to so many acts of revenge, learns from them and how he will act.
For the next story, focusing on ********, I plan to write a lighthearted tale that leaves out those elements.
However, the story after that, focusing on ******, will be a bit heavier, and the stories of ******* and ******** will be even heavier.
However, I have no intention of writing a hopeless story or a story with a bad ending.
As the title of this novel suggests, I intend to depict the exploits of a hero who shatters the flags of doom and the bonds he forges with the people he encounters.
I’ve been working on various ideas to incorporate homages and jokes, to develop the story in a way that will help to lighten the sense of heaviness even a little, and to allow you to enjoy the heroic figure of another hero who is born at the end.
If you think, “I can’t do this anymore!”, I understand that this can’t be helped, but if possible, I would be happy if you could read this chapter to the end.
I’m confident that you won’t regret it.”
Oh the chapter title is the continuation to his line in the previous chapter. Love it when writers get creative like that.
Quick swapping between forms is so cool.
