About the case of destruction flags being demolished after a nichiasa loving otaku was reincarnated as a villainous student – Chapter 284 – Side: Egos (A story of him meeting something after the end)

“Dammit dammit dammit…! This is the worst, the worst…!!”

A week had passed since the incident in the insectary, and as life in the academy slowly returned to peace, Egos, whose life was changed the most after this incident, continued muttering his resentment in his room.

The worst was a good way to sum up his current situation, and he could not find any way to rise above it.

The students lost faith in him and he lost his supporter, Ramy, but the last week showed him all too well that this was nothing but the prologue.

It could be said he lost everything.

The incident in the insectary brought to light and spread what happened during the cooking club’s excursion. The image of a despicable person who would not only sacrifice a child for his goals, but would demand someone else do it for him, was firmly attached to him. Trust in him had gone below zero and into the negatives.

Sure enough, no one could possibly want to hang around with such a person, and his party declared they were leaving.

The other reincarnated students did not reach out with a helping hand. In fact, they saw an opportunity to kick him while he was down, and did as they pleased.

Egos’ former party members were scouted by the other hero prospects, reducing the chances that they would ever return to near zero.

Shian, his partner in crime, suffered some damage because of him as well, and did not attempt to help him.

Egos was truly done, with no superiors or friends to help him, and nothing he could do on his own.

“Not yet. It’s not over yet. I can still bounce back…!!”

But Egos did not give up.

He had his knowledge and surely enough strength. And he had the mental fortitude to attend the regular meetings of reincarnated students even in this situation.

Last time, the biggest topic of discussion was the difficulty spike in the game… How the two monster armor beasts that appeared in the last event evolved to level two.

Needless to say, this change had a big effect in how the reincarnated students were playing. And it meant they had to reevaluate their situation on a fundamental level.

Luminous History was a game with a high degree of freedom, and a lot to do. One could level up and acquire strong equipment, but it was also important to gather party members and deepen bonds.

The reincarnated students would use their prior knowledge of the game, and make themselves and the members of their parties strong enough to easily clear events.

They settled on the idea that the many unexpected twists that happened so far were a result of Zenon throwing the story out of order at the beginning, and never paid too much attention to it.

But this time it was different. Egos along with Shian and his party were prepared and faced an enemy head on, and lost.

This was evidence of enemies that even their boosted stats could not defeat. It was nothing but shocking for people who had been trouncing weaklings and thought of themselves as invincible.

Shian’s party was certainly not weak. They should at the very least be strong enough to defeat those monster armor beasts normally.

And even though they had another reincarnated student with them, they could not defeat the evolved monster armor beasts. This reality shook the usually carefree reincarnated students, and forced a big change of direction on them.

They could not continue to drag their feet with their harems. They had to clear the game, or they would not grasp the happiness that laid beyond it.

The meeting was coming to a close, with them deciding they had to share as much information as they could and power up themselves and their parties further, but Egos thought this collection of eccentric reincarnated students who always put themselves first was never going to get along and build a cooperative relationship.

They would break apart soon enough and return to normal, he thought, and if he managed to navigate through this well, he could recover. But something else occupied his mind even more than this, Yuugo and Ryuuga.

They defeated by themselves the monster armor beasts that himself, Shian, and Shian’s strong party could not. He could see it as a result of them weakening the monster armor beasts prior to their fight, but it all seemed odd.

The other reincarnated students theorized that this was a result of the game getting the story back on track after main characters such as Shian and Egos lost, but… Egos thought they were too strong.

He vocalized this, but was ignored. Perhaps they saw it as the howling of a beaten dog. But Egos thought it was worth looking into this feeling that something was wrong.

Was a strong power working behind Yuugo and Ryuuga strength? If he could find it, he could make their strength his own.

“I’m not gonna let it end like this…! Just watch, you scum…!”

Egos looked away from what he himself had done, and resented Yuugo as the reason for his downfall.

It was clear from his attitude that there would be more than a couple of disturbances awaiting in the path of a hero.

He never learn, does he?

Also good to see the incident with cooking club finally get publicised. Hopefully the other students finally change their perception about Yuugo and the so called “heroes”.
