Walking in another world – Chapter 710 – Mithril golem – Part one

“Master, enemy.”

I jump up after hearing that.

Hikari is up, so is it close to morning?

My head still feels a little heavy, but when I use Presence Detection and Magic Energy Detection, I do feel something nearby.

But… There are also reactions of people.

I get out of the hole I’ve been digging, and see Chris and the others getting up on the other side.

“Hikari, how is it?”

“Two people, one monster.”

I quickly check with Map, and see those reactions are coming this way.

But there are more. There are fifteen people on the opposite side of those two people and one monster, from our position.

What’s going on? I see movement, and it seems they’re trying to draw the monster away from the others and this way.

“Let’s get ready to face it.”

Says Rurika as I look at Map, and we all grab our weapons.

I also get my shield ready.

This doesn’t look like a magic energy reaction of a stone or iron golem. And it looks pretty strong.

Eventually, we see one of the dwarves we know.

“Herc?”

“…! Sora!?”

Herc is surprised to see us.

“Watch out.”

He stopped for a moment, so the monster… The over two meter tall mithril golem attacks him with its weapon.

Sera steps in to block it, and sparks fly as the greatsword clashes against her axes.

They’re about equal in raw power, and Sera can’t push it back.

“Sorry. Thank you.”

Says Herc while breathing heavily.

“What happened?”

“It spawned as we were walking. We’ve fought mithril golems before, but this one’s way stronger. We tried to take it down, but couldn’t. Then we tried to get it away from the others…”

And that ended up being where we are. But what was their plan after bringing it this way?

Let’s ask that later. We need to eliminate this threat.

“Can we take it down?”

“Can you?”

“…We have to, don’t we”

I don’t feel bloodthirst or anything from the golem, but I can tell it’s trying to take us down. To kill us.

I step in front and switch places with Sera, blocking the attack with my shield.

This greatsword being swung downward has a lot of power. And the slash from this over two meter tall body could crush me after I blocked it.

Sparks fly, and I hear a bad sound from my shield.

I bought it in a store, but it was made using magic iron and steel along with monster materials, so it’s pretty good.

I quickly reinforce it with the Strengthening skill, but its durability goes down fast.

This is an attack I shouldn’t take head on. Sera’s something to be able to match it in power.

I put the shield in the Item Box, and face it with the mithril sword.

“Sora, I can take over.”

“No, you attack it. We won’t take it down by fighting normally.”

Hikari and Rurika are attacking, but the mithril golem isn’t taking damage. It’s repelling them by making magic energy flow.

This thing is tough. After all, it’s a mithril body further reinforced with magic energy.

Magic energy is sapped with every attack, and it goes down further when it repairs damage, but it’s also quick to recover the magic energy it spends.

I also swing my sword, but I leave surface scratches that are quickly repaired.

Mia’s thrusts and Chris’ magic are more of the same, and while a blow from Sera is effective, it eventually goes back to how it was.

Is this thing stronger than a dungeon boss?

Hikari also understands how strong it is, and releases Projectile Slashes, but they aren’t that effective.

“Rurika, Sera, please buy time.”

Chris is also thinking this won’t do, and starts preparing magic.

Is she going to use spirit magic?

Herc and his partner are here, but I’m sure she thinks she has to do it. Then I’ll attack while preparing magic.

I repel an horizontal sweep with my sword. Actually, I just manage to change its direction.

My hand is numb.

Herc and the other guy use the opening to attack too, but the attacks with the big hammers don’t cause damage.

A normal golem would have to use magic energy to repair the damage from those attacks, but since the mithril golem quickly recovers it anyway, there’s no point.

“It’s no good. The magic energy’s not goin’ down.”

“You can tell?”

“More or less. A blacksmith has to know the moves of magic energy.”

“How were you planning to beat it after bringing it here?”

“…I was going to leave it here and ask for reinforcements.”

Does that mean he has a way to make it stay here?

I want to hear more, that will be the last resort.

“Get away!”

Rurika yells with a sharp voice, and I immediately take some distance.

Herc and the other see me, and do the same.

Their moves prove they’re not just blacksmith, they also work plenty as adventurers.

Of course people who brought this monstrosity all the way here can fight.

After we’re clear, Rurika uses Gale to cut at it.

Metallic sounds echo, and mithril is scraped where the swords hit.

“Ooh.”

Herc is impressed, but it’s not over.

Next, Chris fires her spirit magic. Something like my Fireball is unleashed straight towards the golem.

It blocks with its sword, but it starts melting.

Then I use Tornado to push it further.

The Tornado pushes the ball of fire, making it burn hotter… And causes an explosion.
