A hot wind blows. I block it with my arms, and use Magic Energy Detection.
A magic energy reaction remains at the center of the heat. The quantity has gone down, but it’s healthy.
Once the wind settles, I look forward, and see the mithril golem with the left side of its upper body missing. But it’s still standing, and I feel an abnormal intensification of magic energy in its magic stone.
I watch carefully, and it slowly regenerates.
Then, once we attack it, the flow of magic energy changes. It stops using its magic energy to regenerate, and pours it into strengthening its body. It can do that too!?
Also, it feels slight, but its magic energy is regenerating too.
Our weapons bounce off its strengthened body. Rurika uses Gale again, but this time it has no effect.
In fact… The mithril sword on her right hand breaks.
“Eh?”
Even Rurika is surprised.
I am too.
Me, Mia, and Sera attack from three directions, but we can’t damage it.
“It’s tough.”
“Yes, my hand is numb.”
Say Sera and Mia while exhaling.
It’s definitely stronger. We don’t even know if Chris’ magic would work.
I peek over at her, and see her drinking a mana potion.
“This is a problem.”
Whispers Herc after an attack with his hammer is blocked.
He attacked with all he had, but like us, he can’t damage the mithril golem.
It feels like he knew it would happen, but couldn’t not try.
Is this checkmate? I dodge an attack by the mithril golem, and swing my sword again.
A shrill metallic sound echoes, but there isn’t a scratch on it.
With a normal golem, we could drag on the fight until it ran out of magic energy, but there’s no sign it’s going to happen.
“Sora, I’m going to try magic again.”
Says Chris while looking at Mia.
Mia nods, and casts support magic on Chris, before doing it on the others.
Chris then holds up her staff and readies her magic.
I don’t know if it will work on the golem as it is now, but we have to try because we’re getting nowhere like this.
Or rather, is this all we can do?
As I think that, the mithril golem’s moves change. It’s been attacking whoever is close, but it’s moving towards Chris.
Does it remember that her magic is a threat?
“Everyone, buy time!”
It seems Rurika thinks so too, because she grabs her spare sword and gets in the monster’s way.
Me, Sera, and Rurika follow, and Herc and the other dwarf also swing their weapons to push the mithril golem away from Chris.
It’s desperately trying to get to Chris, so it must really feel threatened. I hold up my shield to stop it, but the pressure is strong.
If it weren’t for Sera and Herc, it would get through. It’s ignoring Hikari and Rurika’s attacks, probably because it knows they can’t damage it.
The same could be said for the others, but the difference is that they can push it back.
“Get away!”
After this struggle that feels like it takes a long time, Chris’ magic is ready.
We were waiting for it, and get away from the mithril golem. And a red-hot ball of fire takes our place.
The mithril golem’s left arm is stretched forward, and I can feel immense magic energy gathering in it.
Then a plate appears in front of it. A mithril shield?
Magic energy gathers in it as the ball crashes against it.
The fire rises, and it feels like it will roast the shield.
The shield tries to block it, and the mithril golem pours even more magic energy into it.
They are still clashing, and the wave it produces makes us shrink back.
Eventually, the ball of fire explodes, and a hot wind blows again.
Once it settles, everyone gulps. The mithril golem is in front of us. It looked like the shield was melting, but it’s fine.
I feel like it has less magic energy in its body, but it should be back to normal soon.
I start looking for magic energy, and see it rising a little from the core.
I peek at Chris, but she’s using her staff to stay on her feet. Even if she can use magic again, it won’t happen right now.
I think about using composite Magic, but I don’t think I can match her firepower. Still, if I keep attacking it, I might delay its recovery, so I prepare magic.
But then its magic energy disperses, and it slowly falls forward.

Thanks for the treat.
P.S.
It seems comick is alive; it changed from comick.io to comick.dev.
Do you happen to have a Discord channel? Thanks.
