I stayed there for a night longer than last time, making it a four day exploration.
I earned quite a bit, but I damaged the greatsword, used a magic potion, and lost the tent, so those profits plummeted.
As a result, I don’t have much to show for these four days.
I’ll be in the green if I sell what I got from the treasure chest, but I feel like I can use that in a pinch, so I’m keeping it. Since the receptionist at the purchasing counter told me with a sour tone it could be a crime if this is used improperly, I’m keeping it locked in my Storage Space.
When I heard that, I asked them to buy it from me, but the half a million yen price didn’t seem right to me for something I got from a treasure chest, so I decided to use it myself.
It’s not a problem if it just stays here, it’s just in case.
But that’s not all that’s making me feel unsatisfied.
I lost my weapon, so I had to use mainly magic to fight monsters on the way back. There weren’t that many of them, or rather, I avoided them at all cost.
Taking down a trent with magic takes time, and catching a silent condor takes a lot of magic energy. I couldn’t keep fighting like that, so I had to avoid them.
But despite everything, I did get an item from a treasure chest, so it wasn’t all bad.
Also, after coming home last night, I looked up that tent on the internet, and found that the manufacturer was wary of reproductions, so they did a little something with the arrangement of the magic circles. The effects won’t activate even if you copy them, and if things go poorly, they might even attract monsters. The website said to absolutely not copy them.
And then…
I found a website with a ton of magic circles.
And I almost broke my monitor.

Now I’m in the guild, complaining and asking if it isn’t a bit too greedy to charge a million yen for content that’s readily available on the internet.
The receptionist lady looks troubled, but I don’t care, I want my money back.
Yes, the book is a little bent, yes it’s a little stained, and yes I did use it multiple times as a pot holder, but I’m sure it’s fine.
The receptionist listens to my complaints, and says the guild doesn’t deal with that book, so she can’t help me. And to talk directly to the lecturer who sold it.
No no, that can’t be right.
I joined a lecture in the guild and bought something there, so the guild is involved. When I look at her with suspicion, she shows me a flier for the lectures.
And this is what’s written at the bottom.
‘Buying and selling during lectures is forbidden. The Seeker Association is not responsible for any trouble caused by sales after lectures.’
I’m mad, but I have to back off. It’s hard to see, but it’s there. It’s my fault for not reading it.
Also, this flier is found here and there inside the guild, so I could’ve checked it. It’s my fault.
I cry out in frustration as I head back to the dungeon.

The twenty-first floor.
Hey, listen.
I was scammed.
Yes, a million yen. Stupid, right? That money I worked so hard to earn went into a useless book.
Laugh. Come on, laugh.
I’ll feel better too.
I say to an orc sitting next to me.
He or her taps my shoulder like it’s telling me to cheer up.
And then he or her opens its mouth wide and attacks me.
What are you doin’ idiot!!?
I pierce the orc with an earth stake and turn it into money for me.
I don’t think there’s going to be any friendship between humans and orcs.
I leave the dungeon with only lonely feelings and my wallet feeling warmer.

I stop by the weapons store on the way back to get my greatsword of fortitude and tyrant battleaxe, and find Toufu and the others on the way out.
I ask where they’re going, and they say they’re heading to a sauna.
They invite me, and I immediately say why not.
