I drop my speed slowly until I stop, but I don’t see anyone coming out of the water…
Is this really bad? Just as I’m starting to think that, everyone comes out of the water looking okay.
“Bro! You gotta teach them what they did was wrong!”
He’s right, I have nothing to say.
“Snow, you did something wrong, so say you’re sorry.”
“I’m sorry.”
She bows without arguing, and Gyes and the others raise their hands, looking happy with that.
Then they suddenly disappear. Or rather, it’s like they were pulled into the water.
“Wai…!?”
Something in the water moves so fast, that Gyes and the others can’t react in time.
“Tiltue, look after everyone! Reina!”
“Yes! I’ll try the spell I made with Merlin!”
I quickly jump into the water, and an invisible film covers my body.
This film goes all the way up to the surface, bringing air around me.
I can breathe! Then…!
This is a spell that Merlin started working on before, that allows people to breathe underwater. As a water magic expert, she couldn’t forget how she drifted into this island and almost drowned.
That said, it’s hard to use magic against the ocean that’s a part of nature, and said spell would require a crazy amount of magic energy.
And so, through trial and error with Reina, and using ideas from my world, they managed to create this.
Where…?
We’ve come further than I thought. I can’t see the bottom, just an endless darkness.
To the left and right, I see small fish desperately trying to get away.
When I look in the opposite direction, I see a large shadow approaching at an incredible speed.
Is that it!? You’re not getting away!
I use wind magic like when I fly to propel myself.
I keep shortening the distance, until I can see that it’s a giant squid.
It looks like Gyes has already freed himself, but he knows he won’t keep up if he lets it get away, so he’s holding on to its arm.
He’s hitting it, but hitting one of its arms doesn’t seem to be doing a lot of damage.
The others are still trapped by the squid.
I’m catching up!
If Gyes can’t damage it, attacking its arm doesn’t seem worth it.
I have to go around it.
Gyes looks surprised to see me, and tries to tell me something by waving, but I go around before I have the chance to learn what it is, and clench my fist.
Take this!
The squid tries to tackle me, but I punch it up with full force.
The people caught in it are left behind, as it flies up like a rocket.
I grab everyone in turn and go up, and see Tiltue pulling the raft far away.
It looks like the magic cast on me is still active, and that’s how she knew where I was.
But it looks like it will take her a bit to get here.
“Bro… Don’t punch it so hard…”
“S-sorry…”
Says Gyes weakly while I wait.
The others look listless too. Apparently the impact from when I punched it shook their brains.
Everyone’s strong from living on this island, so they manage to come up, but I should be more careful next time.
“I’m glad everyone’s okay.”
After playing a lot, we should eat a lot.
Meaning it’s time for the beach barbecue.
The squid I punched is floating on the water, so we make ikayaki and sashimi.
That said, with so many people here, it should be gone in no time…
“Fufufu! We actually got hunting too!”
“Great, right!?”
Tiltue and Luna carry a squid they hunted above their heads.
Snow also has her hands up, but she can’t quite reach it.
It makes her look small and cute.
“Where did you put that?”
“We asked Edi to store it.”
Edinburgh? I look around, and see she’s here all of a sudden.
Things stay preserved as long as they’re in the Storage Magic Reina and I use. But since it was Edinburgh and Wil who originally made it, theirs should have the same effect.
Tiltue and Luna proudly show off the squid they hunted, and then take it to Reina.
She quickly cuts it using magic with skilled ease, into easy to eat pieces.
As I watch that, Elga and Livia come over.
“Oh my, it looks like everyone is having fun.”
“Aren’t you two going to eat?”
“Ah…”
“What?”
Elga looks at Livia with an awkward expression.
“Don’t worry about that. He’s being considerate because my father is the divine beast Kraken.”
“…”
I turn away unconsciously.
Divine beast Kraken. Needless to say, I never saw it in my original world, but I understand what it is.
A squid divine beast…
It makes sense for Elga to look awkward. I feel awkward too.
That points me where the kids, demon gods, and ancient dragons are enjoying eating squid.
“Well, if you’re not gonna eat it ’cause of that, you wouldn’t eat dragon either.”

She’s giggling, so I guess she was just making fun of us.
It makes sense that even Elga gets bossed around by her.
“By the way, I just tested Reina and Merlin’s magic, and it looks like I’ll be able to go underwater!”

“Of course! Reina is busy, so let’s ask Merlin later!”
I change the subject to escape Livia’s jokes, and we head towards Merlin, who’s surrounded by divine beast people.
