“This black wing is behind Black Veil’s large scale outbreak?”
Some time later, Yuugo and the others returned to the academy and reported to Uno, with Jinba present.
He had in his hand the black feather confiscated from the woman who was a part of the Friends of the Night Society, and as he looked at it, Uno spoke to Yuugo.
“So basically, the Friends of the Night Society all have the power to become monster armor beasts?”
“No, I think there is a limit to how many of them can appear at once.”
“…I see. So they don’t have the power to become monster armor beasts, they have the possibility.”
Uno thought a little, and understood what Yuugo meant.
Yuugo responded with a big nod, and Jinba continued talking about the black wing and the outbreak to sort out the information they had.
“Black Veil used some sort of magic on this badge. And that power allows the Friends of the Night Society to turn into monster armor beasts.
“So if the person that used said power goes down and the badge breaks, that power moves to someone else. Meaning every person who has this badge can turn into a monster armor beast.”
“Who is chosen is completely random. That’s the only conclusion we can reach by seeing the people we took down and had that power.”
“…So no matter how many of these Black Veils we take down, their numbers will not decrease?”
“Yes. Even if we defeat the monster armor beasts in front of us, as long as there are members of the Friends of the Night Society, they will come back.”
“So this will be over once they all go down, but that does not seem realistic…”
Mumbled Sakura with a pale expression as she sorted the information in her head.
As she said, no matter how many monster armor beasts they defeated, as long as there were still members of the Friends of the Night Society, the same number of monster armor beasts would remain.
Taking down all the members would end this, but not only were there a lot of them, but more might be enticed by the power of monster armor beasts. It was simply not a realistic solution.
Everyone feared this situation where the city was in incredible danger, because they never knew when monster armor beasts would appear and attack people, but Yuugo suddenly spoke.
“Most of the time, these situations end when you take out the one in the center. If we take out Black Veil, the magic on those black wings should be gone.”
Yuugo employed his tokusatsu knowledge, which told him that a lot of these cases where a lot of people were influenced were solved by taking down the kaijin that started it.
It was a somewhat meta way of thinking, but certainly not wrong, he thought. And Jinba responded.
“The guards are after Glonas, the one acting as a representative of the Friends of the Night Society. He might be Black Veil, and if he isn’t, we should at least gain some sort of information.”
“Please do, Jinba. We don’t have a lot of clues.”
This case would not be solved unless something was done about Black Veil.
With the decision to leave that role to the guards, the meeting was concluded.
After everyone left, Yuugo spoke to his friends.
“I’m going to the studio to talk to An and the others. They’re developing a new weapon.”
“Okay. We shouldn’t bother you. You should go alone.”
“I’ll go back to our room. Take your time.”
An and the others were working on a long range weapon that would work on the flying Black Veil, and Marcos and Ryuuga said goodbye.
Yuugo felt they were hinting at something, and Sakura spoke.
“Mister Yuugo, I have a favor to ask. I am considering visiting Miss Mary tomorrow to check on how she is doing… Would you please accompany me?”
“Sure. I’m a bit interested too.”
Yuugo gladly accepted Sakura’s request, who was worried about her friend Mary. And he tried to cheer her up, as her long face told Yuugo that she was picturing the worst case scenario.
“Don’t be so worried. Mary has her father, so I doubt they’ll try anything weird.”
“…You are quite right. I will trust Miss Mary and Mister Goto.”
Sakura nodded, seemingly just a little more optimistic.
Yuugo was relieved to see that, and left for the studio.
“…By the way, what was Utsusemi up to today? She wasn’t with the others developing a weapon, right?”
“Eh..? A-ah, Raiha should be in her room. She wanted to go out, but that would have made things more complicated in the middle of this turmoil.”
“Go out? Where…?”
The guards’ base. She received a letter summoning her there to hear more about Black Veil’s attack last night.”
Ryuuga asked about Raiha after Yuugo left, and frowned when he felt something was off about Sakura’s response.
He had a serious look on his face, as what he felt when Black Veil attacked was now even stronger. He went deep into thought, trying to understand what was strange.
“Black Veil’s attack, the expanding damage, the guards’ response… Something is not right…”
He crossed his arms and mumbled as he went to the dormitory alone.
