The plan was going smoothly.
I took control of a few goblin villages, and took up a base inside a cave in a rocky mountain.
I let them live freely and unrestrained. I only ordered them not to be found by people.
In the meantime, I killed humans and hunted monsters. I hunted adventurers when I found them in the forest. Then much in the same way, I hunted wolves, along with orcs and ogres.
Ogres lived deeper in the forest without drawing attention. There weren’t many of them, and when I took them down, I realized those were running from humans.
I felt like I found them when they were trying to multiply, and took them down.
This lifestyle gave me four new skills.
【Special summon】
This allowed me to summon species I’ve defeated.
For example, goblins if I killed goblins, wolves if I killed wolves, and orcs if I killed orcs. But humans were the exception.
Also, apparently I could summon more of them as I got stronger. But that was not the only way, I could increase the number I could summon per human killed.
It seemed I would have to be more proactive in hunting humans.
【Growth】
This increased my growth, but also strengthened the special summons as I grew.
The monsters summoned got stronger as I got stronger, it was the best. Also, I grew as the monsters I summoned killed enemies. Truly the best.
【Puppet】
This allowed me to control others, but didn’t work on strong ones.
However, it definitely worked on corpses. It was simple too. I just had to give orders.
Apparently complex orders wouldn’t work, but it was enough.
This also seemed useful to kill humans.
【Magic Library】
This let me use magic. But the way to learn magic was special. By taking down enemies, I would gain points, and I could then use them to pick the magic I wanted once I had enough.
I could also use these points to strengthen it, rather than learn new magic. And I had to strengthen it to use advanced spells of those elements.
I didn’t really understand, but I knew I just had to keep killing enemies.
◇ ◇ ◇
Long months went on.
I killed people, killed monsters, and grew, but slower and slower.
Did I reach my limit? I thought, but I wanted to deny it.
Yes, numbers. Not enough. I needed more. Needed to kill a lot.
But I killed all the monsters around there, and only the goblins under me remained.
I had to move to the next stage.
I knew it. Killing humans was a faster way to grow than killing monsters.
But I didn’t really move on it because I didn’t have confidence.
I couldn’t look down on humans. I remembered almost dying in that dark town.
But then, my Future Sight activated.
I saw a future where my cave was attacked.
That settled it. I would perform a rehearsal before attacking that black town.
I wanted to check how much stronger I had gotten. But I didn’t think I could challenge from the front.
That was how I would’ve probably felt before, but I gained a lot of knowledge.
Humans were really cruel, dirty, liars.
In a way, monsters were more pure. They were honest and straightforward.
That might be because they had very little strength to think.
I put together a plan and put it into action.
After confirming that people entered the cave, I closed it. I couldn’t beat them with goblins, but this way, they couldn’t leave.
Then I attacked a village and people moving on the road.
And when there were people sneakily moving in the forest, I attacked them too.
Some got away, but I didn’t chase them too far.
Standing out too much meant people finally came after me. Of course, I drove them back, and turned the dead ones into puppets.
I was ready.
Humans usually took the dead with them, so I used that. At this point, there was no going back.
It was risky, but I could expect great rewards.
The number of monsters I could special summon had grown, and I used points to learn magic.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have new skills.
I was targeting a town called Avid. A place that was apparently prosperous because of its smiting.
Having a dungeon meant there were a lot of adventurers, but apparently it was weaker than other places with dungeons.
The feudal lord was stingy, so it had fewer soldiers than other towns.
Maybe I could take it down easily.
“…Let’s begin.”
They took the bodies into town, and night came.
That was when I activated Puppet.
I heard screams and a lot of other noise.
I used Special Summoning to call replicated monsters into town, and ordered them to attack humans.
