Walking in another world – Chapter 738 – Intermission – Attack – Part two

I created replicated monsters with Special Summon, and used the Change skill to turn into a human.

In a way, this was my first skill, the ability to turn into what I kill.

I could turn into a skeleton, goblin, orc, ogre, wolf, or human.

This was a very important skill for me to blend into that species’ society, but it wasn’t all good.

For example, if I turned into something other than a skeleton or goblin certain skills became unusable depending on what race it was. And the ones I could use had their effects diminished.

But I did gain traits of the race I transformed into, so there was a bonus.

Turning into an orc made me stronger. Into an ogre made me stronger and tougher. Into a wolf made me agile, although it was hard to move as a wolf.

I caused chaos in the town, and used it to infiltrate it.

That was when I undid the transformation and turned into a goblin. And I hid while I continued summoning more replicated monsters.

I wasn’t at my limit yet, but I wanted to observe the humans’ response.

I used the air skill and moved to a certain place. The building I decided would be my base there.

According to the memories of a human I killed, that building had a hidden path I could use to escape.

Even after learning various skills, I still didn’t know how strong humans were. I wanted to have that just in case.

And that decision was right, although that wasn’t a happy result for me.

All the replicated monsters I summoned were taken down. Of course, they managed to kill humans before they fell, but fewer than I anticipated.

There were two reasons. Strong humans, and ones who could heal wounds.

The latter had potions to heal and holy magic

All the puppets and replicated monsters were down, but it was not over.

I could wait and summon more.

Humans are beings that can’t survive without resting. Like most monsters. But not me.

When I was able to summon replicated monsters again, I moved out once more to kill people.

◇ ◇ ◇

One day, after another parried attack, my Future Sight activated.

I saw a human cooking, which confused me.

I watched from my hiding spot, and saw they were distributing food for free.

That confused me. From what I knew of humans, they were not the kind to give free food to complete strangers. Especially in a time like that, where they wouldn’t have enough for themselves.

I heard people complained when they didn’t eat enough and their stomachs were empty.

Was there a reason? I didn’t know what it was, but I should be cautious. That was what my instincts told me.

Among those humans were ones I saw before.

That… Yes, those were the ones I locked in the cave.

How did they get out?

The place where I was refused the meals. Some complained, but…

“Leave then.”

That shut them up.

I was worried, but no one wanted to brave the dangers outside. That was a relief, because I would have fewer prey if they did.

With the replicated monsters revived, I used Special Summon again.

I killed the humans in the building, and sent the replicated monsters out. Meanwhile, I prepared to leave.

The fighting so far told me I couldn’t take the town as I was.

I really shouldn’t underestimate humans.

Then even stronger ones appeared.

They were ones I hadn’t seen in that town before. They were organized, and took down replicated monsters one after the other.

After seeing that, I decided to use the secret passage to escape.

As I ran, I created earth walls and blocked the exit.

I destroyed the house just in case, and summoned the monsters I kept for an emergency to stand by in the forest. Then I used the Air skill to flee north.

To the north of this country… The north of the Borsheil Empire, was something called the dark forest, where many strong monsters lived.

Going even deeper, there was a place ruled by the absolute strongest being, called demon king.

My targets were the monsters, demon king, and demons.

By taking them down, I could become even stronger.

My final objective was the imperial capital Heil. I was going to attack and destroy it.

The attack on Avid was a rehearsal, but it told me all too well how weak I was.

I hunted a good number of humans, but there were still many strong ones.

Would I come back after becoming stronger in the dark forest? Would I attack another town… Maybe Heil?

It all depended on how strong I could become in the dark forest.
