“Excuse me, can you wait a second?”
The man in the black suit that appears all of a sudden and says that has black metallic gauntlets on both arms, and he blocks my attack like it’s nothing.
“…Don’t get in my way.”
I try to push him out of the way, but he doesn’t budge. I’m not using Limit Break, but I’m using Physical Strengthening to its fullest.
“Now now, calm down. I don’t know what happened, but will you let me have them?”
“Don’t screw with me!!”
I use Earth Magic, and create spikes under the jokester. But he swipes with his free hand, and that’s enough to crush them.
I keep swinging my battleaxe, but he blocks it all with his gauntlet without taking a step.
“What are you!? Their friend!?”
I ask after taking distance.
I can tell from this back and forth. There’s an immense difference in our powers.
If I took him head on, I’d end up on the ground without doing a thing to him. But that’s no reason to pull back.
I don’t have to beat him, my blade just has to reach the guys on the ground.
And so I’m asking. Is he the killers’ friend?
“Ah, excuse me. My name is Fukuro Kuroitsu. I am not their friend, but I want to ask them some things, so I want to take them with me.”
“Ask them here then.”
“I need to take them with me, because I can’t let outsiders hear it. Will you please back away?”
“No, I can’t let you. I’m killing them here. They’re dying by my hand.”
“Ah, I can’t allow that.”
“If you get in my way…”
“What will you do?”
“Until you step aside…! Limit Break!!”
“Can you do that!?”
I swing my battleaxe even harder.
Kuroitsu was handling it easily, but the sudden increase in speed and power changes his expression a little.
But it doesn’t fluster him, and he smiles like he’s happy.
I activate a Speed Up magic circle, not to strike against Kuroitsu, but Tooru in the back. I create a rock spear, and let Spatial Grasp take care of the aiming.
But as the battleaxe cuts the air, Kuroitsu kicks the rock spear and breaks it.
“That was close.”
He says with a calm expression, provoking me.
Like it wasn’t close. Like he read my moves and easily dealt with it.
I didn’t think he could stop that magic even if he could read it.
“Dammit!”
I grumble and keep attacking, copying the warrior kobolt with a mix of battleaxe attacks and martial arts.
I sweep with the battleaxe, and kick when he blocks it. He also blocks that with his knee, but I use the claws of the divine bird boots to grab his leg. Or at least that was the idea, because he instantly kicks it back.
With the claws being a misfire, I lose my balance and support myself with my hand, and then I’m blown away.
Palm strike. It might look like he lightly pushed me, but the impact was strong enough to crack my armor and run through my body.
“Gaha!?”
All the oxygen in my body is expelled as I roll on the ground. I gasp for air, but only a little enters.
I immediately cast Healing Magic in this panicked state. The effect of Limit Break means I’m instantly healed, but I vomit the blood that rises in the meantime.
“…You can even use Healing Magic. We need to add that to Yuuka’s information.”
Kuroitsu mumbles something, but I get up and step forward even more firmly.
“Uooooooohh!!!”
I swing the tyrant battleaxe as hard as I can, swing, swing, swing, speeding up.
I swing down, sweep, thrust. Hit with the handle.
Everything is blocked, dodged, or parried, but I continue.
“Isn’t it about time you gave up?”
He says like he’s talking to a kid throwing a tantrum.
Kuroitsu has noticed that the power of the battleaxe rises with every swing, but he’s still confident it won’t hit him.
That attitude fills me with anger.
“Don’t mock me!!”
I control a lot of sand, and cover the whole area.
I make use of my footwork to continue attacking, control even more sand, and try to bind his limbs.
But he’s still moving. I use even more sand to make it thicker.
And finally, after many attacks, the tyrant battlaxe gets red hot.
The sand has completely enveloped Kuroitsu, and I make it hard to hinder his movements.
I run with my tyrant battleaxe in hand, jump over the immobile Kuroitsu, and swing down at Tooru.
“I said no.”
He says with a light tone, right next to me all of a sudden.
I look to the side, as if the world slowed down, and see him with his fist ready.
He punches.
The fist sinks into my magic mirror armor, breaks it, and destroys my internal organs.
“Kaha!”
I expel my oxygen and roll on the ground again.
Then I take a kick, and smack against a tree far away.
“We aren’t playing either, so we can’t show mercy.”
He decides that attack will keep me down for a while, and heads towards Tooru.
There’s a woman I don’t know next to him, and a young man restraining Akira.
The impact undid my Limit Break, and I vomit blood, still unable to move.
I use my remaining magic energy to heal until I run out. I focus on Magic Energy Circulation, but I only recover it little by little.
At this rate, they’re going to take their killers.
Those guys I hate.
The guys that killed Toufu and the others will be taken.
They said I could join them, they had goals, happy futures ahead of them, and they were killed so cruelly. Those two…
“I’m not letting you, you idiot!!”
I jolt to my feet, and grab two magic potions from my Storage Space, that I gulp down.
They look surprised to see me howl that.
I remember hearing I should only drink one magic potion a day. More than that, and it could be deadly.
I drank one before, and now two more.
If that’s true, I might die.
But that’s fine. As long as I kill them.
“Gah!?”
It’s like my magic energy is going crazy. Is this the effect of a magic potion overdose? My veins are rising, and blood is breaking through my skin and flowing out.
I get why magic potions can be deadly.
I feel an intense pain from the magic energy running wild and stirring inside my body, and stiffen all the way to my fingertips. And with a cracking sound, I start to break.
I thought magic potions recovered magic energy, but that idea was both correct and incorrect.
Magic potions have the effect to amplify the remaining magic energy. And the more you take, the bigger the effect.
Even if I run out of magic energy, the effect more than doubles when I drink the second one, and decuples if I drink a third one. It’s not an amount of magic energy a normal person can handle.
That’s why it’s running wild and breaking me.
Normally, there would be no saving me. Normally.
