“Ahh… Ahh…”
I’m breathing heavily, but I managed to get through the first round of training.
I didn’t ask what the running training would entail, so I didn’t pace myself and was short on gas the whole second half. Even if my level and stats are crazy high, it’s tough going back and forth two hundred meters forever…
Not to mention that after two hundred meters, I had to quickly stop the momentum and turn within ten meters. And Aira and Aki kept adding savage conditions.
This hellish training lasted anywhere between five to ten minutes per set.
Looking back at it, the first one was no hands, but I could use Posture Control.
Second, no Posture Control but I could use my hands.
Third, neither. This was the toughest one. Trying to turn within the acceptable limit led me to lose my balance and fall a few times.
After this, speed skills were added to the first set.
Fourth, Fast Run IV.
Fifth, Fast Run IV + Swift IV.
Sixth, Fast Run IV + Swift IV + Blink III.
I was at full speed from the fifth onward, and cleared the two hundred meters in a few seconds. If I got careless, I’d easily go over the ten meter limit. I used not just Constitution, but also Physical Strength skills to power up my legs, so I could stop myself on the spot.
By the sixth, my consciousness was getting hazy from the exhaustion, so I may have failed it all. I’m just relieved it’s over.
‘Purupuru?’
Iris rolls near me, jiggling. I think it’s here to be a pillow.
“Sorry Iris, but I feel like Maki’s lap now.”
‘Pururu!’
“Whoa.”
Iris stretches a tentacle and puts me on its body. I guess it wants to carry me.
“Thanks.”
‘Puru.’
Iris carries me to where the others are, and the girls are quick to look after me and pamper me a lot.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
I ended up falling asleep while enjoying Maki’s lap, and was out for an hour. And we just finished having lunch, so Aira and Aki are talking about this afternoon’s training.
“Master, you went over the limit during the back and forth run twenty-one times. Once during the second set, four times during the third, four during the fifth, and twelve out of twelve during the sixth.”
“Since you were making full use of your skills during the sixth set, much like the fifth, we might need to rework that one. So that one doesn’t count.”
“Thanks. So am I doing this tomorrow too?”
“Of course. I want to bring the infractions down to zero by the end… Does it sound harsh?”
“From the first to the fourth it depends on my skill. But halfway through the fifth I noticed I could get through it if I walked with Shukuchi. But the sixth was physically pretty harsh.”
When I’m running fast enough to clear two hundred minutes in an instant, it’s easy to get careless and go over the ten meter limit. And if I have to completely stop and turn to run back…
“I have to use Air Walk to run in the air to kill the momentum…”
If I don’t kill the momentum, I’ll run vertically at that same speed, and kick the air when I have control again. And then do a somersault to change direction. I think this sort of acrobatics is the way to go.
“It’s not exactly the right way, but it might have to be like that at the start. Well then, let’s train mid-air fighting in the afternoon. You managed to assassinate the Kamui from the air. I’m sure you’re going to have more opportunities to fight giant monsters like that, so it doesn’t hurt to polish that skill.”
‘Gogoh.’
Enki reaches into Aira’s bag and grows to its four meter form. And now the bag looks really small.
“Ah, welcome back Enki. Are you ready?”
‘Gogo!’
Says Enki after Aki welcomes it.
I just realized it wasn’t there when we had lunch. Did it go on an errand while I was asleep?
Aira moves to the place where I was training that’s now full of holes, and takes out a lot of rock blocks from her bag.
“Please build a Kamui, Enki.”
‘Goh!!’
Enki makes good use of its strength to make a Kamui out of rock.
I see, that’s why you were saving those blocks.
‘Goh! Goh!’
Enki perfectly replicates the Kamui with rock, and now that I get a good look at it, it really is a monstrosity.
You’d think such a monstrosity on the top of the mountain could be seen from the bottom, but there were those clouds in the way.
“Darling, darling.”
“Hn?”
“If you build an objet like this in the park near the beginner dungeon, I’m sure it would attract people!”
“Wouldn’t fewer people go if they knew there was a monstrosity like this on the third floor?”
“It’s an interesting idea… I wonder. Actually, Enki can make something that looks just like the real thing, uh?”
‘Gogo~.’
“If you can make something so detailed, maybe you could make life sized statues of monsters from every floor in a museum style.”
“A dungeon museum? Sounds interesting. Maybe I should ask my mother.”
“But only after we beat the fifth floor.”
“I guess so.”
I don’t know how long that will take, since I’ve never been there, but it’s too early to start thinking about what to do after that.
“Ahem. Let us leave the diversions there and begin.”
“Yes, thanks.”
“Master, your goal will be to attack this Kamui from above as you did with the real Kamui. Defeat it with Bladeless Sword, but stick the landing this time.”
“Hm… What about Double?”
“It appears to take too much out of you, so let us leave it for when you are more comfortable.”
“Okay… That’s it?”
“For starters, but once you are able to land properly, we will throw things your way. These two will be in charge of disturbing you.”
Aira points to my sisters-in-law.
“They will?”
“I’ve stepped back from the front line, but I still have the full trust of our mother. I won’t fall behind to you. And by the way, I can use Forbidden Magic.”
“And I can use Spatial Magic. I know you can too, but as your senior and sister-in-law, I can’t allow myself to lose.”
“Their combination is phenomenal even among the forces of Houjouin. Even I do not believe you will beat them today. Please get through their disturbance tactics before the end of this trip.”
If Aira says so, they must be pretty strong.
Considering the sense of bother I feel on my skin, I think it’s safe to assume it will be like Aira when I first met her, times two.
Let’s get fired up and train!
