“Hey Yuugo!? Yuugo!! Respond!!”
“It’s no good! That impact screwed up the connection of the communication devices!”
The ones standing by outside heard the bombs suddenly became active, and after hearing an explosion right after, feared the worst.
The communication devices were malfunctioning, meaning they had no way of knowing what was going on inside. This only fed their imaginations, but Setsuna spoke when she realized something.
“…Wait, if there was an explosion, it caused too little damage. We felt the impact, but the hospital is mostly still standing.”
“Yes…! Did they reduce the damage with magic walls?”
“No, they couldn’t have created such strong barriers in such a short amount of time. But then how…?”
“Nevermind that! The little damage done to the hospital means the people inside might very well be okay! Hurry up and rescue them!”
“Exactly. Everyone back to work! Remove the thorny shrub as fast as possible!”
Having found a ray of hope in a desperate situation, they hurried to remove the obstructions.
The guards eventually cleared the door, and took formation as they stormed the hospital.
“Sorry to keep you waiting! We’re here to rescue you!”
“Remain calm! We need to transport the wounded first, so stand by!!”
The ones leading the charge spoke to the people awaiting rescue, as all the guards entering the building were surprised by how little damage there was.
Ten powerful bombs exploded, and yet there were barely any scorch marks or holes on the walls.
They were all baffled, but then Phi spoke in a panic.
“Melt! This way! Hurry!!”
“Eh!? M-me!? Why!?”
Melt was surprised by the intensity and vigor Phi had as he grabbed her hand and took her with him.
The others followed them, and when Phi stopped, they saw Yuugo surrounded by Raiha and the others.
“Ah… That hurt…! That one really did a number on me.”
“Of course it did! How reckless are you!? You really are a big idiot, aren’t you!?”
“Please stay still and don’t try to move until someone who can use healing magic gets here…”
“I brought Melt! She can treat my brother, so move aside please!!”
“Wait, time out! What is going on here!?”
She could see Yuugo was hurt, but it did not appear to be all that severe.
And yet, the worried people around him seemed awfully serious, confusing Melt. He asked for an explanation, and was given one by a bitter-faced Velda.
“This idiot threw himself on the bombs to kill the impact of the blast! We’re fine thanks to it, but Yuugo…!!”
“Eh…!?”
“Hey! Don’t just talk like I died! You can see I’m okay!!”
Said Yuugo as Velda shed tears.
He suffered damage and appeared to be in pain, but was not in mortal danger. Melt and the others looked back and forth between him and the hospital that was not too badly damaged, and spoke with surprise about Yuugo’s reckless actions.
“You…! It’s always the same, you always go too far!!”
“Sorry, there was no other way. But you would’ve done the same, right?”
Yuugo said to Marcos with an awkward smile, and sighed.
He then bowed and spoke to his friends, who were worried about him.
“…Sorry, I didn’t mean to put those looks on your faces, but there really was no other way. I knew I’d be okay, but it’s obvious that doing something crazy like that would worry you.”
When Yuugo died, reincarnated, and decided to live in this world, he vowed to be a hero that did not make anyone cry.
It had to be done, but he still felt bad about breaking that vow and making his friends worry, as Raiha interjected on his behalf.
“Don’t blame Yuugo too much. Our magic walls wouldn’t have held the explosion on their own. It was Yuugo who saved us all.”
“…You were here, so if you say so, we can’t argue. But I still wish you didn’t do crazy stuff like this.”
“Yes. None of us, including Phi, want to see you get hurt…!!”
“Yes, I’m really sorry.”
As Yuugo was healed by Melt, he heard her and Setsuna and took it to heart.
The magic eased the pain, and he thanked Melt for healing his wounds, but Ryuuga stepped out from among the others.
