I’m cooking this morning.
I make stew, soup, rice, bread, salad, and other things that I put in my Storage Space. I store a lot of water too, and instant coffee while I’m at it.
I’m heading to the dungeon this afternoon, to stay the night there. I’m supposed to meet the seeker party from a couple of days ago, so I can’t go in the morning.
After filling my Storage Space with stuff, I leave the house.
It’s almost time, so I have to hurry. It’s not like I can’t keep them waiting, but I was a salaryman, so I like to be on time.
Eh? Ai?
…I dunno.
After shaking in the train, I leave in the station closest to the dungeon and head to the guild.
There are many seekers meeting each other around the guild, all wearing equipment.
A lot of them.
I expected this, but thinking about fighting every seeker here gets me feeling down.
Yesterday she said they were going around giving thanks, but I didn’t think it was this serious. Is this payback for embarrassing them? What savage people without saving.
What will the guild do? Do they ignore quarrels if they’re outside? Do they only deal with trouble if it’s inside? They’re not going to help after skimming so much?
What a rotten organization.
I hide in the grass, and sneakily activate a magic circle to create a rock spear.
My target is the guild building. This magic can open a big hole in the dungeon. Not bad as a preemptive attack.
Aim carefully, get ready to launch it, and infuse magic energy when I’m ready.
This is my present.
“What are you doing?”
A katana is held against my neck as I’m about to throw it. It’s that old woman from the guild.
I only noticed she was here when the blade was pressed against me. Even though my Spatial Grasp skill is working.
What a scary hag.
Whoa, I almost said it out loud again.
“So, what are you doing?”
She steps on me and asks again.
I might be happy about that if it was a young lady, but not a sweaty old woman.
I hear a sound from the sword, as it presses against my face while I look to the side. That means answer quickly.
Hold on grandma, I’m the victim. The bad guys after me are over there.
I was pretending to use magic to draw them out. Really, believe me. I had no intention of actually using it.
I didn’t think it seemed fun, or was thinking about what might happen. Just a little, but I had no ill intentions.
So don’t stab me, okay?
The tip of the blade touches my cheek, and it will harm me if I move even a little.
I explained, but it feels like there’s more strength in the hand holding the katana the more I talk. I can’t imagine she’ll actually do it, but am I going to get stabbed at this rate?
…She won’t, right?
I look at her, feeling worried, and she snorts as she takes her foot off me. She sheathes her katana, and signals for me to get up.
I do just that, and raise my arms to show I’m not resisting.
She asks about the bad guys I talked about, and I explain what happened the other day. She looks at me with an exasperated expression and angrily calls me an idiot.
Apparently that seeker party already rented a room in the guild, and is preparing to thank me.
So they didn’t mean thank in a sarcastic way?
I mumble that, and she calls me an idiot again before asking me what year I think it is.
I don’t want to hear that from a hag.
Then she kicks me. That’s not fair, I didn’t even say it out loud.
I complain that I didn’t say anything, and she gets close with a vein in her forehead, saying my attitude made it obvious.
I shouldn’t piss her off anymore, so let’s change the subject.
I’m surprised you noticed my magic.
You weren’t near me, were you?
Eh? Anyone would notice this much magic energy?
…There’s a lot of confusion in the guild right now?
According to her, seekers noticed immense magic energy when I prepared my magic, and grabbed their weapons.
The suddenly bloodthirsty seekers then yelled to the ones that didn’t notice that an attack was coming.
…Sorry ’bout that.
I guess it should be obvious that other seekers would detect my magic energy.
I just assumed they wouldn’t because the ones in front of the guild didn’t react.
Then she interjects.
“Didn’t you say you were using it to flush out the enemy?”
…Yeah.
Suffice to say, her lecture doesn’t end there.
