The impact of the explosions rendered Phi unconscious for just a moment, and he opened his eyes wide after hearing his name being called roused his hazy consciousness.
He saw Yui shaking his body, and was relieved to see she was not as hurt as he thought.
“Yui… Thank goodness, you’re okay.”
“Because you and Skull protected me. I’m really sorry…”
Just before the explosions, Phi remembered what his older brother said, and he held Yui to protect her from the impact.
Likewise, Skull jumped in front of them to protect them, so neither had more than minor injuries.
Skull’s fire element reduced the damage from the explosion, so while it seemed to be in pain, it would not be fatal.
They could be relieved about that, but they gulped at the approaching shadow they saw while trying to look at their older brothers through the dust the explosion kicked up.
“Phi, Yui… You’re okay. That’s great…”
“Angel!”
They were relieved to see it was her, but that ended once they saw her definitely not shallow wounds.
She groaned in pain and collapsed, and when they approached her, Angel smiled to reassure them.
“Don’t worry, we’re okay. Melt cast support magic, so we didn’t get that hurt.”
“I see. Thank goodness…!”
“Is everyone okay!? Respond if you hear me!”
“Ah, big brother!!”
After those dreadful explosions, Yui was relieved to hear the others were all right.
Phi then saw Marcos supporting Yuugo on his shoulder, and smiled as he saw his brother was all right… But as the aftermath of the explosions subsided, he was filled with nervousness and dread as he saw the situation around them.
“So much damage…!!”
Angel’s groan reflected what the others thought.
The damage caused by the gigantroses exploding was far bigger than they thought. The series of explosions changed the landscape, and the students acting as guards were all unconscious.
The hero prospects fighting the monster armor beasts were particularly bad, as they were lifted by the wind caused by the blast and slammed hard against rock walls, before falling limply on the ground.
Even the ones further away from the gigantroses would not be fighting so soon.
The cause of all this, Koumaru, looked around at this picture of hell with a satisfied look on his face.
“…Now they can’t pursue us. We can take our time retreating.”
“Guu…! W-wait…!”
“Raiha… Give back Raiha…!!”
Declared Koumaru, implying he did what he set out to do. Setsuna and Sakura stood in front of them to block their path and fight, but… the damage they took was severe.
They could barely get up, and Koumaru looked at them with disdain as they crumpled. Then Ryuuga rushed towards him, getting up through the power of his rage and thirst for revenge.
“Koumaru!! You are not…!! Guha!”
He stood up to cut down Koumaru, the cause of his father’s death and the mastermind behind all this, but his body was at its limit.
Zaraki easily blocked his attack, looked at Ryuuga, Setsuna, and Sakura on the ground in turn, and spoke with a mocking tone.
“I pity weaklings…! You can’t avenge your father’s death or protect your friends! While I became a loong and soared through the sky, all you can do is crawl on the ground! Gyahahahahahaha!!”
“Uh, guh…!”
“Dammit… Dammiiiiiit!!”
Setsuna and Sakura had their magic items and friend taken away from them, and lamented their uselessness.
Phi and the others felt a pain as though their hearts were constricted, as the tattered Ryuuga got up and groaned at Koumaru with bloodshot eyes.
“You’re not…! If nothing else, you’re not going to…!!”
“Big brother! Stop!! You’re going to be killed!!”
“Fuu… Zaraki, take his katana and finish him. Don’t play around too much.”
“Ou, I know…!!”
With Koumaru’s permission, Zaraki walked towards Ryuuga with an amused smile.
He cracked his knuckles as Koumaru spoke.
“Once you’re done with him, cut the heads of the combat miko on the ground. Once Raiha sees them dead with fear and despair on their faces, her heart will easily be broken.”
“Haha! Can I really kill that much? Then I can’t waste time!!”
Zaraki seemed ecstatic about taking lives.
Yuugo saw Zaraki’s target, Ryuuga, his friends shedding tears over being unable to do anything, Yui screaming over her older brother… And spoke while leaving her and his little brother with Marcos.
“Sorry An… I won’t be able to keep that promise.”
