I’m unemployed but I’m exploring the dungeon again today – Chapter 130 – The Abyss III – Part one

After waking up, I put the tent in my Storage space, grab a hold of Fuuma, and an intense tornado propels us up.

A grass monster pierces the hole we were, and the supposedly sturdy walls collapse. It doesn’t stop, and comes after us in the air.

Green covers my vision, and a blade comes after us to skewer and kill us.

This is bad. Fuuma is still asleep, so I borrow the rising dragon chakram from it and infuse one with wind and earth to deploy it in front of us.

It rotates rapidly with sturdy stone and wind blades that cut the grass blade. When I land, I deploy them around us, and don’t let any more blades of grass get near.

I touch the ground, put pressure on it with Earth Magic, and crush the root in one go.

The grass withers, and there’s no more green coming from the ground.

It’s not my first time waking up to a battle, but I can’t say it’s a nice way to wake up. This enforced exercise and battle to the death leaves me tired and unmotivated.

I know it’s too much to ask, but can I not be attacked in my sleep?

I put the still sleeping Fuuma on the ground, and start stripping after checking that there aren’t any monsters around.

I take out the flower vase that produces water, and turn it over my head.

I don’t know how long it’s been, but the sweat and dirt on my body feels gross.

I strip while bathing, and being in my birthday suit makes me feel refreshed.

Just a man naked in a grassy field.

And Fuuma looking at me in shock.

In this awkward environment, I peek at Fuuma.

What, there’s no one around.

Uh? Give you shampoo next?

I don’t have horse shampoo. Make do with water.

What? It was in the set of horse stuff I ordered?

Was it?

I take the cardboard box with that stuff from my Storage Space, and sure enough, there are three bottles of shampoo for horses.

I thought for sure this was varnish for the saddle.

Fuuma’s paying attention, I think as I get cold.

I should get this over with before I catch a cold. After I’m done cleaning myself, I use a strong wind to quickly get dry. I want to do laundry too, but I should reach a safe place before doing that.

If I can.

I sneeze, and Fuuma does too.

The perpetual spring scarf maintains the temperature around Fuuma, but it had to take it off to bathe.

I mix shampoo with water and start cleaning.

Fuuma shivers, most likely cold.

I infuse magic energy into the flower vase to end this faster, but mess up the amount and pour water with light.

It falls on the ground, and the vegetation grows.

I stop it right away, but it grows enough that it covers Fuuma.

Something happens when the grass grows. I feel reactions of grass getting away from here.

Of course, it’s not like all grass moves. It was monster grass.

I don’t know what happened, but nothing happened when I poured regular water. Then I poured water with light, and grass moved away.

Could this water have a monster repelling effect? If it does, it’s really nice to have.

I’m running out of monster repellent too

I don’t know how long I’ll be on this floor, so I couldn’t ask for a better item.

I need to test how long the effect of this water lasts, but if grass monsters don’t like it, it boosts the value of the water.

I clench my fists, and my naked body shivers.

My exploration moves smoothly from there… Or not. It’s still tough.

I have a counter to grass monsters, but that doesn’t make earth doll fights easier. The water with light doesn’t have an effect on them, and there are too many strong ones.

They have a limited range of activity, but they’re strong monsters to begin with, and can regenerate forever unless I crush the core. Also, any time I use Trace, they seem to detect something and come to me.

It’s not just trouble, it’s dangerous.

I always run away when they come with grass monsters, so at least the exploration is made a little easier by the light with water.

I feel like its effect lasts for ten minutes to an hour.

I say it feels like, because my watch is broken. I took out my alarm clock from the Storage Space, and it’s working, but it’s slow and sometimes moves backwards. And mappingool’s stopwatch function just shows me an error.

I put the useless watch in the Storage Space and I’ve been counting myself.

The time difference comes from the amount of magic energy I use. If it’s just to take a short break, I might just need to put a bit of magic energy.

I fight and run away from earth dolls, and eventually find a black silhouette on the horizon.

It’s floating, and looks like a cloud from here.

It’s slowly moving this way.

Sometimes it seems to touch the ground, and gouges it.

I feel something like a chill runs down my spine, and speed up as I get away from it. But the black silhouette comes this way, gradually reducing the distance between us

I noticed it was a monster when the chill ran down my spine.

And as it draws near, I realize its abnormal size.

If I were to describe it, I’d say it’s a turtle.

Like a sea turtle with fins where its legs should be, and a face rugged like the rocky mountain far away. Its big eyes are packed with small eyes. Its shell has a lot of something like acorn barnacles stuck on it, and I see it spitting something.

The giant sea turtle monster the size of a dome baseball field moves in the air like it’s swimming.

It looks like something out of fantasy how the air ripples when the fins move. I’m sure I’d be enamored with this sight if I could stand here and watch, but that overwhelming pressure is telling me we need to get out of here.

I make Fuuma run fast, and it seems desperate like it knows how bad the monster back there is.

I use Wind Magic to accelerate, cut the grass monsters in front of us, and avoid the earth dolls.

But the sea turtle monster is still drawing near.

And there’s no doubt that it’s coming after us.

The monsters we ignore attack the sea turtle in the sky, but are no match for it.

The grass monsters are bitten, dragged off the ground, and into the sea turtle’s mouth. The earth doll monsters are melted by acid released by the acorn barnacles, and their cores are destroyed by water lasers.

The monsters that gave me such grief are being easily put down.

The same would happen to us if we faced it. And if we can’t escape it.
