“”Hou, you’re going to face me head on… Interesting!!”
The armored warrior laughed as Yuugo pointed a sword at him.
Phi and the others looked on as both powered up, and dashed towards their opponent and swung.
“Nuun!!”
“Seyah!”
The armored warrior swung his odachi down with his large frame, and Yuugo swung up to meet it.
The impact of the swords clashing made the air vibrate, making each understand their opponent was strong enough.
“Guh…! Heavy…!!”
“You stopped my attack! Not bad!”
The large armored warrior’s attack carried the tremendous power it appeared to have.
Unlike Ryuuga’s sword, this was swung down with weight as if to crush its opponent, and the armored warrior praised Yuugo for blocking it.
“Fuh, ahh!!”
“Muh!? You!”
Yuugo managed to somehow infuse his arms with magic energy and fling the odachi back, followed by stepping forward and executing a horizontal sweep.
The armored warrior dodged it, took some distance, and held his weapon up high.
“It seems you’re better than I thought. But how about this!?”
“Is that… water!?”
Yuugo gulped as he saw water gathering around the odachi, and the armored warrior swinging down hard.
A giant water blade was launched, and Phi yelled as it rushed towards Yuugo.
“Big brother! Be careful!!”
“Uu, ooooh!?”
Yuugo reacted to his little brother’s voice and blocked the first water blade, but his weapon composed of metal particles could not withstand the attack.
His weapon snapped in half, and the armored warrior spoke as Yuugo looked at it with shock.
“There’s more than one attack. How are you going to block them without a weapon!?”
“O-oh no!!”
The armored warrior was already ready to execute another attack, and Yuugo looked panicked under the mask.
He could not take it head on, so he thought he had to make use of his mobility to dodge, but… he noticed something and stopped.
(He stopped? Did he give up?)
The armored warrior looked on quizzically as Yuugo was about to dodge, but stopped in an unnatural way. But the attack continued.
In fact, the armored warrior held his weapon more tightly, thinking a man who would give up so easily needed to be cut down, as he swung.
“Cheeeeest!!”
This time, a water blade strong enough to gouge the ground approached Yuugo.
The people watching thought Yuugo was about to get hit by it, but after exhaling, violet magic energy came out of Yuugo’s whole body as he silently howled.
“Super henshin…!!”
“W-what!?”
Rather than dodge the incoming water blade, Yuugo took it head on with his violet armor, surprising the armored warrior.
The armored warrior saw Yuugo open his arms slowly as he took a step, then another, and while this sight pressured him, the armored warrior roused himself and continued attacking.
“You want to challenge my mighty blade head on… Are you foolish, or underestimating me!?”
He was right, his attacks carried incredible force.
It was at the very least enough destructive power that other students of Luminous Academy could not fight it, and it could easily break defensive magic.
But Yuugo chose not to dodge, and purposefully took it as he advanced.
What was he thinking with that reckless action, thought the baffled armored warrior. But… he gulped when he looked behind Yuugo.
(Are those children…!? Is he…!)
Behind Yuugo, were elementary school students who were late in running away.
Surely Yuugo saw them just before he dodged.
Had he dodged, those attacks would have hit the children. So he stayed, and took the attacks head on to protect them. The armored warrior was shocked to learn the purpose behind that reckless action, and reflexively swung his sword down with surprise when he realized Yuugo was right in front of him.
“Nuuh!”
He could not let him come any closer. Odachi had reach, but letting someone get close was dangerous.
Knowing this was why the armored warrior swung down with all his strength unconsciously, but Yuugo caught the falling blade with his hands.
“W-with your bare hands…!? Did you see through my blade…!?”
“Not perfectly, but I’ve seen a faster and sharper blade many times before.”
The armored warrior’s sword was stronger than Ryuuga’s, but very much fell short in terms of speed and sharpness.
Fighting alongside the student from Yamato and sparring with him many times meant Yuugo could deal with a swordsman. Upon hearing this, the armored warrior readied to be attacked, but… Yuugo put down the blade he caught, and said something unexpected.
“Enough. I don’t know why you’re doing this, but I’m sure there’s no need to keep fighting.”
“…Are you pitying me?”
“That attack wasn’t reinforced with water. You noticed the kids behind me, didn’t you?”
“…”
Yuugo undid the transformation.
He looked at the children Yuugo protected, and then back at Yuugo, and listened with a serious expression.
“What you’re doing is crazy, but you’re not a bad person. Let’s end this. I don’t want to fight you any more.”
“Fu, fufufu… Fuhahahahahaha! Ah~ hahahaha!!”
The armored warrior laughed loudly after Yuugo looked straight at him and asked to end the fight.
He sheathed his odachi, lowered the visor with a cheerful smile, and showed his face.
“Hahahahaha! I did hold back to some extent, but it was definitely my loss!”
Said a rugged man with a hearty laugh.
Yuugo’s face was scary as well, but Yuugo thought that man’s face exceeded his.
“And not only are you skilled, but you are also generous enough to show mercy… My daughter fell for a nice man!”
“Hnn? Daughter…?”
That word caught Yuugo’s attention.
Come to think of it, this man charged forward without thinking of consequences and fought with water. Yuugo realized this reminded him of someone, and as he realized who he was talking to, the voice of the person he thought of reached his ears.
“Mister Yuugo! Are you all right!?”
“Ah, Sakura!”
Yuugo saw Sakura run towards him with a panicked look on her face, and said her name.
As she reached him, she spoke while bowing deeply.
“I’m so sorry. To think a family member could be so crude…!”
“Family… Then he’s…!?”
“Yes. As embarrassed as I am to say it, this is my father…”
So I was right, thought Yuugo despite still being surprised, as he turned to the armored warrior.
His tough face smiled, and he spoke with such a light tone, one would never guess they had just fought.
“That’s right. You are going to be my son-in-law, so how about we let this be water under the bridge and be friendly!?”
