I’m unemployed but I’m exploring the dungeon again today – Chapter 138 – The Abyss XI (Second night) – Part one

Some time has passed since I reached land.

I don’t know how much, but I’ve been healing the wounds dealt by the frog women, and walking through this wasteland.

I take down monsters, eat, take a nap, and keep going.

This field is easy to walk on, and there aren’t that many monsters.

Since it’s night, I was expecting a monster stampede like on the mountains, but thankfully, I was wrong.

But there’s another problem. Well, it’s nothing I wasn’t thinking about.

I ate too much.

I had over three months worth of food when I fell here, and it’s all gone.

It’s all because I have a gluttonous horse with me.

We might starve because it ate like an idiot and didn’t think of the consequences.

Yes, you. I look down at it like I’m chastising it, and it looks at me like it’s saying I ate too.

The air is tense, but we realize this is unproductive and sigh.

We know why we’ve been eating more.

We spend energy fighting monsters, and that leads to eating more and more often.

I want to take down edible monsters, but unfortunately, I don’t think monsters here in this wasteland will do.

There’s a six-legged bone camel running with a bone oni on its back.

Each bone is very thick, and as sturdy as they seem. And they’re big enough that I have to look up at them.

The oni skeleton has a large black club, and its swings create an air cutting sound as it swings from the camel.

Also, these skeletons seem to have magic resistance, so when I throw Earth Magic stakes at them, they stop at the surface and don’t do much damage.

It’s a waste of magic energy.

They’re about as strong as the earth dolls, but these are easier to fight.

I had to crush the others’ cores to defeat them, but I just need to destroy these ones’ existence.

Simple and easy to understand.

This camel skeleton that’s as big as an elephant is nimble and quick to close the distance like its weight isn’t felt. Then the oni swings its club at us as if to scoop us up.

That attack is telegraphed, so it won’t hit us, and Fuuma easily dodges.

But magic energy flows into the club, we’re drawn to it, and flung into the air.

We dodged it.

I saw that, and was about to attack with the greatsword, but an inexplicable phenomenon made that fail.

As I’m thrown into the air and my posture breaks, the club is swung at me.

I try my hardest to parry with the greatsword, but this time I can’t get away from the club, like I’m glued to it, and I’m smacked against the ground.

Air rushes out of my lungs, and I use Earth Magic to attack from below.

If normal stakes don’t work, I just have to make them stronger.

I activate the magic circles Solid and Pierce, and use a good deal of magic energy to stretch six stakes at the camel.

But the camel crushes them easily with its six legs.

I’m surprised, activate Limit Break, and dodge the club being swung.

I jump back to take a good deal of distance, but it doesn’t let me. The skeleton camel jumps into the air with a loud sound.

It’s landing where I am.

I know the trajectory, so I activate the Explosion, Speed Up, and Pierce magic circles to create a rock spear.

It flies out and there’s an explosion above, creating a blast around.

Surely this attack worked, and I see cracks on the skeleton camel’s legs as it emerges from the smoke. One snaps when it lands.

The explosion threw its landing position off, so it lands next to me.

I can’t let this opportunity get away, so I infuse the greatsword of fortitude with magic energy and send a projectile slash at its legs.

It breaks two more legs, and it hobbles like it can’t keep its balance.

That brings the skeleton oni to the ground.

The impact brought the camel down, but its broken legs are already regenerating, and it will be back to normal if I don’t do something.

And so, I want to attack more and finish it for good, but the skeleton oni won’t let me.

It has the same frame as a camel despite being a skeleton, and its thick bones don’t feel at all brittle. The oni still has its black club, and I try to see what kind of ability it has.

It’s going to be a bit tricky to get over this one.

And as I fight the oni, the camel will regenerate.

So I leave it to Fuuma.

Magic circles are activated in front of the rising dragon chakram.

It’s not me, Fuuma learned how to use the ones I use.

It uses Focus and Reinforce.

The tornadoes released turn into ten lines that pierce, sever, and mince the camel. In an instant, it’s beyond recovery.

The tornado lines maintain their momentum as they go towards the skeleton oni. But it smacks its black club hard against the ground, breaking it and creating a lot of dust that nullifies the tornadoes.

It’s big and has overwhelming strength.

It only has bones, but it’s so strong that a little lapse in judgment could kill me.

But that’s nothing new. I’ve been walking a tightrope ever since I fell into The Abyss. In fact, now that I have more experience, I’m confident I can overwhelm monsters.

The tornadoes fling away the dust, losing momentum as it approaches the skeleton oni.

There’s a difference in size, and the agile skeleton oni won’t let me get close. But since it blocks magic, now’s the only opportunity, since it’s distracted.

I infuse enough magic energy so that I know I’ll cut it, and slash at the bone leg that’s like a tree trunk.

If it falls, the rest will be easy, but sadly, the skeleton oni regenerates faster than the camel.

I land a hit before it falls, but it just throws its balance off a little.

Well, the blade still went through, so there’s no need to panic.

I just have to slash until it’s cut.

I do it again after an attack from the skeleton oni with magic energy.

It sends magic energy into the club, draws me closer, and I block a sweep with my greatsword of fortitude.

We’re locked pushing each other, and I hear a sound I don’t like from the greatsword of fortitude.

But the next moment, Fuuma’s attack stops it.

The rising dragon chakram have more intense wind blades than before, which hit the skeleton oni from the back.

Its magic resistance is no good here, as they carve its back and go back to Fuuma, who’s hovering.

The skeleton oni plants its foot and stops, and its wound heals.

It’s really menacing how it regenerates right away if I do manage to hit it.

I just have to destroy it faster than it can recover.

“Limit Break Burst.”

I’m resolute to put it down, and infuse as much magic energy as I can to cut the immobile skeleton oni.

If one slash won’t do, I keep doing it, cutting the skeleton oni until it’s minced.

Uoh! I fire myself up by yelling, and cut its arms and legs off.

I slash faster than it can recover, and continue until the magic energy in its body dissipates.

I can’t even count the number of slashes, but eventually it turns to ash and disappears.

All that’s left is the giant black club.

This powerful monster was a skeleton, so we can’t get any food out of it.

We don’t have to worry about water, but I’m sure we’ll starve if five days go by

This is bad. I look for anything I can eat in the Storage Space, taking everything out one by one, and find a bag of candy.

As I take out things, I take out a cursed giant spider.

Come to think of it, I meant to throw it away on the twentieth floor and completely forgot it.

I look at it, wondering if it can be eaten, and the Dismantling skill tells me it can be used for food.

I snap my fingers, and as if using that as a signal, a sort of miasma, something evil, starts gathering.

This is bad, I think as I take out the greatsword of fortitude and cut the giant spider, but the miasma won’t stop.

I panic and touch it to put it back in the Storage Space, and it finally stops.

I don’t know what that was, but it must be terrible if it came out of a strong monster. Let’s keep this sealed until I can destroy it on the twentieth floor.
