I’m unemployed but I’m exploring the dungeon again today – Chapter 140 – The Abyss XIII (Second night) – Part one

The sword fight with the silver-haired guy is white hot… Or not.

He easily dodges even as I try my hardest to attack, and he stabs me in the shoulder and leg, and grazes my throat and cheek.

Still, I keep at it, using Earth Magic and Wind Magic, using all my available weapons.

But nothing reaches him.

I’m being overwhelmed in terms of swordsmanship, and all my magic is evaded. Our physical abilities are on par now that I used Limit Break Burst, and his amount and quality of magic energy is superior, even though eating sea turtle meat powered up mine.

That means I have no way to beat him with my normal abilities. Even learning his moves with Trace isn’t enough.

The silver-haired guy is at a height I can’t reach.

I grind my teeth out of frustration, but that won’t accomplish anything.

His sword flashes.

It happens in a second, and it turns into many blades that slash me. I use Healing Magic, but the following attack pierces my heart.

I stop and vomit blood.

I’m kicked in the face as the blade is pulled out, and roll on the ground.

I raise dust with Earth Magic, make the earth move to take some distance, and close the wound with Healing Magic.

I vomit the blood stuck in my throat, and try to crush him in the dust, but he blows it all away with one swing of the sword.

Dammit, I mumble as I stare at him.

Many things go through my mind with Parallel Thinking, and I try to find any road to victory, but this overwhelming difference means I reach the conclusion that it’s impossible.

This is a desperate situation.

The many hits it took mean the guardian beast armor is in tatters, and the greatsword of fortitude doesn’t feel good either.

I have weapons the demons and hobgoblins used in my Storage Space, but I don’t have any weapon I can use better than the greatsword of fortitude.

So basically, it’s really looking like I’m going to lose.

I hold up the greatsword and face the silver-haired guy again.

He’s not using his full power. He hasn’t used much magic, and the fact that I’m still alive despite the gap in our swordsmanship further proves it.

I wanted to steal his techniques while he was being careless and make them mine, but he’s not careless, he’s relaxed.

He’s very calm. Like he knows no matter what, I won’t reach his level.

But that calmness is crumbling a little.

Fuuma is enveloped in a golden light after defeating all the demons, and using its magic energy to use spells.

The nine chakram hum violently, and it activates a magic circle in front of it.

It creates an intense tornado with Wind Magic, and further powers up the rising dragon chakram by sending them through it.

It also activates the magic circle, a wind dragon.

The wind dragon spreads its gills and attacks the silver-haired guy.

The ground crumbles where it passes and it goes up to swallow him, increasing its power as the wind rages violently to rip him apart.

I don’t imagine it finished him.

The wind dragon is incredibly strong, but I really don’t think that guy would fall to it.

I kneed magic energy and prepare a follow up.

I hear the sound of something breaking.

Up there, the core of the wind dragon, rising dragon chakram, are being broken. The wind dragon is losing its force, and slowly withering as it disappears.

The silver-haired guy appears in its stomach, and while he’s a little hurt, it doesn’t look like much changed.

That level of magic only caused some damage.

I activate Speed Up, Break, Explosion, and Pursuit, envelop a rock spear with wind, and infuse it with as much magic energy as I can.

Even a monster from The Abyss should suffer damage from this. This worked on the sea turtle, and it’s even stronger than before.

So die.

I ask as I launch it, and it creates a big explosion after a direct hit.

The blast envelops this whole area, and blows me away even though I created it, but I control wind to balance myself and land.

Fuuma is also blown away and complains, but I pet its head saying it had to be done.

I look at the center of the explosion where the silver-haired guy was, and as the smoke clears, I see him.

It’s like the sun.

A globe of light is hovering, and in it, the silver-haired guy stands unharmed.

He looks divine, beautiful almost like a real god.

He was never careless.

I infuse the greatsword of fortitude with magic energy to deal with whatever comes, and Fuuma is on alert too.

But suddenly, he’s right in front of me, and my face is hit so hard my head almost flies off.

Fuuma tries to attack with wind blades, but it’s kicked away before the magic takes form, and it falls on me.

I try to counter with magic, but it won’t activate for some reason. I can kneed magic energy and use Healing Magic, but it’s like the control is taken from me when I try to shoot it out.

I hurry to get up and hold up the greatsword, but I’m hit in the face again and roll on the ground.

The silver-haired guy is holding a long sword, so the fact that he’s hitting me means he wants to hurt me.

I can tell by his face. It’s really twisted like he’s having fun hurting me.

Despite the divine light around him, this is a guy with twisted kinks. A true monster.

Well, he is a monster.

I clench my teeth, telling it not to look down on me, and swing the greatsword of fortitude as I get up. I infuse magic energy and release a slash with strong will in it.

But he blocks it with the longsword, and the greatsword of fortitude’s blade is cut down.

And I’m hit again.

I roll on the ground and look at the greatsword of fortitude.

My dear sword I used for so long has been cut in the middle, and doesn’t respond when I infuse it with magic energy.

The greatsword of fortitude is dead.

That’s what it feels like, and an indescribable feeling of loss assaults me.

But the silver-haired guy is still approaching me, and kicks me away while I’m down.

The intense kick sends me far away.

Fuuma sees this, and bites him from behind, but it doesn’t look like the silver-haired guy is feeling it. He looks displeased, swings his leg to pull it away, and throws it into the air.

And he holds up the greatsword.

He’s going to kill Fuuma.

No, not that.

Don’t take it from me.

Please.

Stop.

I reach out and plead, but my powerless hand can’t reach it.

Someone, I ask the god I don’t believe in, and the worst thing possible appears.

The silver-haired guy stops.

Fuuma falls right next to the silver-haired guy, and runs over here.

What happened?

My question is answered when I look at where the silver-haired guy is facing.

It’s the moon.

No. The giant eye I saw before.

The being that had me ready for death, and made me choose to take my own life.

I can’t take my eyes off it, and unconsciously block Fuuma’s.

The eyeball slowly looks down and faces us.

Before I know it, the broken greatsword of fortitude is at my neck.

I try to resist, but it’s slowly drawing closer.

I hear a clattering sound, but can’t put strength into my arm.

This is caused by the giant eye, so I try to look away even a little.

Slowly I face down, trying to move it away from my field of view, but blood starts pouring from my neck. Even if I look away, there’s no guarantee this will stop.

Still, I try to move, and an intense light and magic energy bursts from below.

Gah!!! it’s an angry roar like a beast, and something like a wave spreads. I’m released from the spell making me turn my sword on me.

I pull the greatsword away from my neck and heal the wound, and look at the source of the light.

The silver-haired guy has an angry expression as he glares at the giant eyeball.

Light focuses on his hand, and it takes the form of a short sword.

He steps forward to swing it, and the ground violently shakes and cracks.

That light short sword is made up of an overwhelming amount of magic energy, and it’s swung extremely fast at the giant eyeball.

The light shines through.

It passes the giant eyeball, that disappears like it was never even there, leaving a big red ball.

I don’t know what that is, but the magic energy it releases is the same as the eyeball’s.

The surface of this red ball is cut, and black liquid falls. A part opens like a cave, a sound like silk ripping echoes, and the red ball suddenly disappears.

It didn’t look like it actually went down, but it was beaten back nonetheless.

This silver-haired guy took out a monstrosity on par with those kaiju.

Those monsters are like absolute beings in my eyes, and this silver-haired guy took one out.

That fact makes me fear him.

I fearfully turn to the guy that defeated the giant eyeball.

I see him kneeling, looking like it took a whole lot out of him.

The light around him is gone, and I don’t feel overwhelming magic energy.

It’s now or never.

I know it’s underhanded, I don’t care if you call me a coward.

You can call me a bastard, but I’ll do what I have to.

I head towards the weakened silver-haired guy, and rush with all I have.

He notices me and turns this way, but doesn’t show an intention to stop me.

I throw the greatsword of fortitude, and it’s deflected by the longsword.

He’s spent, but his skill is the real deal. If I’m unarmed, I’ll be killed without doing anything.

And so, I’ll use the spell that’s now available to me.

I activate Explosion and Speed Up magic circles and launch a rock spear. But it will be dodged by controlling the flow of magic energy.

I know I can’t defeat the silver-haired guy with magic, so I’m exploding it in front of him.

This is good. It just has to distract him.

I take the black club the oni skeleton used from my Storage Space, and make it fall on the silver-haired guy.

It would be better to swing it, but it’s too big.

This club that’s like a pillar falls towards the silver-haired guy’s head.

Of course, this won’t hit him, he’ll dodge to the side in the middle of the dust.

But I won’t let him. I infuse the black club with magic energy to activate its special ability, and the silver-haired guy is drawn towards it.

The guy is shocked, but I keep attacking.

I then take a battleaxe from the Storage Space, and swing it at his neck, since the club’s ability means he can’t move properly.

He’s been weakened, but it’s not like he can’t move.

The battleaxe is stopped by the longsword and looks like it will be deflected. So I infuse it with magic energy to extend its black blade, and cut his body lightly.

His expression is that of pain.

The magic energy stops flowing in the black club, and now that he’s free from it, he tries to get away, but I don’t let him.

I raise the battleaxe and attack more, but his skill means he won’t be put down so easily.

I strike once, twice, but it’s cut at the handle and falls before the third.

I lose my weapon, and take another from the Storage Space.

It’s a longsword like his, and we clash again.

It’s destroyed, and I take out the next one.

Again and again, I take weapons from the Storage Space and attack.

I can only do this because he’s been weakened. If he was at his best, our weapons wouldn’t clash and he would rip me apart.

Furthermore, I’m making use of my match with the weapon store owner. If it wasn’t for that, I wouldn’t be able to swing multiple types of weapons like this.

At this point, I have to thank the old man.

I’m still resentful over the divine bird boots, but I’ll let that slide now.

With the longsword destroyed, I take out twin swords. When they’re severed, I take out a spear. When it’s blown away, I take out a morning star. When that’s crushed, I take out another weapon.

This keeps going, and the already tired silver-haired guy is cornered more and more.

But no matter what, I can’t deal a decisive blow. I’m lacking in skill.

All I can do is a sneak attack.

I take a water-filled plastic container, not a weapon, and throw it at him.

The guy is caught off guard, and cuts it reflexively.

That plastic container is filled with water, but not ordinary water. It’s light water from the flower vase.

Monsters avoid this water, so I assume it will damage them to some extent.

And there’s an effect.

He stops when the water hits him.

It doesn’t look like it damaged him, but his eyes are wide open with surprise.

I take out the katana left by a seeker that died with regret, infuse it with magic energy to boost its sharpness, and cut the hand holding the longsword.

It looks like the pain grounds him, because his expression suddenly changes and he flaps his wings to fly far from me.

I follow him to keep beating him, but for some reason, I stop when I see his face.

He covers it with his remaining hand, flaps his wings again, and flies away.

I stay alert, wondering if he’s going to be back, but nothing happens, time just passes.

Eh? What happened?

Fuuma and I are left alone in the wasteland, unable to follow this situation that’s been changing drastically.
