“Nuh!?”
The bat man raised his arm to block Jinba’s slash, and jumped back with a groan.
The floaty jump was just like a bat, and he snorted and laughed as he faced the glaring Jinba.
“Look who it is… Jinba, whose partner I killed. It’s been a while…!!”
“I never forgot that voice for a second! You really came back here, Regen!!”
As Jinba yelled, the bat man undid his transformation.
Contrary to the slim shape of the monster armor beast, a fat man appeared with a crude smile.
“And when did you come back here? Were you demoted?”
“Nevermind that, today I’m dragging you to a cell!!”
“Hahahahaha! Bold words for someone who’s been failing for over a decade! Well, you and your partner gave me a hard time, but… that doesn’t matter anymore.”
Regen opened his arms, and the rampaging ruffians gathered.
He showed off they were all under his control and spoke with a proud smile.
“I’ve been rebuilding my organization while you people failed to catch me! And I got the power to become a monster! A power only given to a select few, including me, but if I can get it to my underlings, this world will be mine!!”
“Regen! You haven’t changed a bit! You’re still trash that makes me want to throw up!!”
“Say what you want, Jinba! I’m kidnapping kids and making money like before! Using this 【birdcage】!!”
Regen opened the door of the magic item he called birdcage just a little.
Yuugo and Jinba heard the cries of children asking for help, realized he caught more than they imagined, and clenched their fists.
“You know this very well, don’t you? The power of the magic item to capture a target in subspace…!”
“Yes…! The horrible magic item Thomas gave his life to destroy! You repaired it!?”
“Kuhahahaha! Your partner died for nothing! Your fault for failing to catch me for over ten years, Jinba!!”
“D-damn you!!”
Regen ridiculed the guards, making Jinba approach his limit and advance towards him with his sword.
But something like a sharp blade jumped out from under him as he charged at his sworn enemy, catching him off guard and cutting him.
“Nuh! Guah!?”
“Jinba!!”
His foot was injured, and Jinba fell forward.
Regen laughed loudly and clapped.
“You’re too heated and don’t see anything around you… Like that day, right? Yes, Jinba.”
“Guh, uu…!”
As Regen stood with an evil smile, something rose from the ground next to him.
A monster armor beast that was like a humanoid shark bared its teeth with a mad laugh, and licked Jinba’s blood off its fin.
“You had someone in the ground…!”
“Yes. I still have underlings with the power of monster armor beasts. I used them and this trigger to make money, and used the money to buy power! By repeating this, I can make this city my own. I can’t stop laughing! Nahahahahahaha!!”
Regen faced up and laughed loudly, and as if drawn by it, his underlings laughed as well.
He nodded, as if stating he had fulfilled his goal of capturing children, gave instructions to his shark monster armor beast underling, and prepared to retreat.
“Geo, play around. You can cut as many people as you want.”
“Hihihihihihi! Thanks boss! Well then!!”
Geo the shark monster armor beast jumped into the stone pavement, shining his dorsal fin towards Jinba.
Just before the black light monster armor beast’s weapon hit Jinba, Yuugo pushed him away to evade the attack. As he saw the monster armor beast swimming in the ground, he yelled to Jinba.
“Are you okay, Jinba!?”
“Yes… But he got my leg. Sorry, but I don’t think I can move right now.”
He held his leg as blood flowed out.
Yuugo nodded, and as he saw the guards having a tough time with Geo, who Regen left behind to buy time, he clenched his fists.
“Jinba, I’ll take him on! Retreat so you don’t get caught up in the crossfire!”
Yuugo’s magic energy intensified as he audibly clenched his fists.
Geo seemed to have picked up on it, because he headed their way. And as Yuugo looked at the fin, he yelled.
“Hen… Shin!!”
