I move my legs to get rid of the numbness from being tied so tightly, and stumble to where Taula was until a moment ago.
“《Activate》, 《Activate》, 《Activate》!”
Normally I would bring scrolls out pretty smoothly, but this time I do it pretty slowly. I’m pretty irritated at myself right now.
“《Transcribe》, 《Transcribe》, 《Transcribe》 !”
I use 《Transcribe》 scrolls to thoroughly investigate around the place where Taula was to see if there are any traces remaining. But what I find are cinders from ‘Third Seat of Immorality’ and piles of petals.
I crawl around the cave, pushing things aside, desperately trying to find any clues.
“It’s no good… The 《Transcribe》 scrolls can’t parse the information I get from the remains of the ‘Third Seat of Immorality’… All I can do now is gather fragments of information from the dungeon.”
I unconsciously hit a scroll floating nearby with my wounded right hand.
The pain in the palm of my hand makes me realize something.
“That’s right! Taula’s book I saw is a charm! It’s something related to curses. I might learn something from it.”
I remember how the book reacted to my curses, and slowly take out a potion.
Rather than opening it, I just smack the potion into the back of my right hand.
The glass breaks and wounds me further, but the potion’s effect closes both that and the hole in my hand.
I roughly wipe away the blood sticking to my hand and clench it lightly.
“All right!”
I get down on the ground again, putting my hands on the ground to test a curse that’s in the shaman’s memories.
The shaman called this a resonance curse. To use this, I need some sort of being’s emotions.
Apparently the shaman killed animals and monsters indiscriminately to use their fear as payment, but I actually just happen to have something that will do.
My anger towards myself.
Taula disappeared somewhere, and no matter how I look at it, the cause is directly related to the purifying light I created.
It looked like the purifying light had a will of its own, even though such a thing shouldn’t be possible.
Yes, it’s completely beyond my expectations.
I can’t help but be irritated by my imprudence and recklessness in bringing Taula along with me with full confidence.
I stir up that anger.
As for the next medium, I stumble my way towards Taula’s sword.
It feels heavier than before, when she left it with me.
Apologetic feelings towards Taula start bubbling up inside, but I crush those flimsy and useless self-complacent feelings.
I stagger and walk towards where Taula disappeared.
All I hear is a breathing noise coming from Lily, who is charred and laying on the ground. I put my knees on the ground, and place the tip of Taula’s sword near my abdomen, where it stabbed me once before.
