After crying without stopping, Rurika falls asleep. Did she exhaust herself crying?
“Someone, here.”
Says Eris, and a demon wearing a maid outfit steps forward, and holds Rurika. So demons have genders too? That pointless thought crosses my mind, because I’ve only seen male demons so far.
“Everyone relax. They are my friends. Please go back to your posts and continue preparing.”
Ou and Ignis stay, and the others leave.
I think Eris wants them to leave too, but realizes they won’t, so doesn’t say any more.
Ignis in particular feels like he thinks of the demon king above everything else. And he doesn’t want to not be around in case something happens.
“Is that… Really you?”
“Fufu, yes. You’ve grown so much, Chris. And… Sera.”
“You too Eris. I’m glad you’re all right. Rurika, hum, kind of surprised me.”
I’m surprised by her sudden actions too.
“Rurika probably… No, there’s no need to concern ourselves with that. She looks like a jokester, but she’s actually a serious girl. More importantly, can you introduce the others to me as well? I already know Kotori, but…”
Her eyes are falling on me, Mia, and Hikari.
The way she seems so interested and amused makes her feel less like a demon king and more like a girl as old as she looks. We’re not just onlookers here, are we?
The three of us introduce ourselves quickly, one at a time.
“I see… It sounds like you have also been having problems. Particularly you, Mia. It seems we caused you a lot of trouble. I’m sorry for not being able to stop it.”
Mia just says she was a saint, and Eris apologizes, seemingly already aware of what happened in the Holy Kingdom of Frieren.
She’s apologizing for the demon… Adonis, who tried to take Mia’s life, but Ignis told me that demons tend to be free to do as they like, so it’s not her fault.
“And thank you for helping Chris, Rurika, and Sera. I want to offer you a reward, but is there anything you would like?”
“No, I’m sure that if I didn’t meet Rurika and Chris after being summoned to this world, I wouldn’t be able to live like this. I don’t need to be thanked.”
It’s true.
It’s thanks to them that I was able to survive in a world where I didn’t know left from right.
I should thank them. Although I’m too embarrassed to actually say all that straightforwardly.
“I see. Ah, and I should return this to Sera.”
Eris whispers like she just remembered something, before getting up, taking off something hanging from her neck, and giving it to Sera.
“…This is…!”
“Yes, your amulet. It was bloody when I received it, so I thought you had passed on. I was so happy when Ignis told me about you. I’m so glad you’re safe.”
It’s a spirit amulet. Chris and Rurika felt that Sera was all right, even though it turned out she lost it. That was probably because Eris was holding it.
Not that I know for sure.
“I think you have a lot to talk about, so we should probably step away. I’m sure that’d be better for you, Chris. You’ve met after so long.”
“Yes, Chris should be pampered.”
Hikari’s direct response leaves Chris’ cheeks red with embarrassment.
But it’s clear from looking at her mouth how happy she is.
“My lord, should you move to another room to talk?”
Says Ignis, and Eris nods, so she leaves with the two of them. I’m sure they want to see how Rurika is doing too.
“And Sora. You should rest too. Let us take you to your room.”
The maid appears suddenly without a sound, as if she was waiting for Ignis to say that, and takes us to a room.
There, we’re brought simple baked sweets and drinks, and relax.
Hikari sits down, takes one of the sweets, checks its smell, and digs in.
I think this is a situation where some caution would be justified, but Hikari cares more about eating.
I can see with Appraisal that there’s no poison in there, but where does she get that boldness from?
“Master, it’s tasty, you know?”
I take a bite after being urged by Hikari, and it really is good.
Kotori is surprised too. This is good enough to be sold in stores. And it could compete with the baked sweets I had in that sweets shop in the holy city.
“I’m very happy that they found Eris.”
“Yes. When I first saw Chris, I got the feeling I’d seen her somewhere before. I completely forgot when I met you again.”
Say Mia and Kotori. That’s some pretty important information that she forgot for a long time. I’m not going to chastise her for it, but she knew how hard we were looking, right?
I’m glad we found her, but that raises a problem.
She’s the demon king.
Were they so carried away by happiness after seeing her that they completely failed to notice that?

Thanks for the treat.
Yeah it’s funny how they haven’t really talked about her being the demon lord of a sudden though from the last arc they should have some idea I wonder if they are going to interfere in the war the humans are doing to try and save their friend
