Walking in another world – Chapter 376 – The next destination

Transfer takes us to the entrance of the faraway town.

People who aren’t used to it… Actually, everyone except Hikari and Eris are surprised when the scenery around them changes all of a sudden. I gave a quick explanation of how Transfer works, but I guess it’s different when you actually experience it.

Eris has her spatial spirits, so she understands it, and Hikari just doesn’t get agitated.

Windsor takes the lead as we go into town, and the children all gather to see what’s going on.

Some of them tease Kotori, who gets mad at them as her face turns red.

“Kotori has changed.”

Kaede says, looking surprised, but also happy with a slight smile on her face.

Is it just me, or is she watching Kotori with the eyes of a mother?

Then we head to where Suiren lives, to say hello and discuss what to do next.

When Suiren sees Eris, she cries, and hugs her gently.

Also, Shun and Naoto can’t take their eyes off Suiren. She looks a little more mature than Eris and Chris, so I guess that slight difference is resonating with them.

Kaede looks at them with an exasperated expression, and Naoto quickly tries to cover it up when he notices her.

Then we all eat together, and go rest.

The girls are going to sleep together in a large room, and Shun and Naoto will go to another room. I have a room all to myself. Honestly, I’d feel awkward sharing a room with those two. What would we even talk about? I’m sure they feel the same way.

As I lie down on the bed, I remember the last thing the dragon king said.

I can get the holy tree fruit we need to make elixir if I go further down in the dungeon that’s in the Dragon Kingdom’s castle.

That means that’s where I should go next, but hearing that Ghido and other demons are going to attack Elesya is making me hesitate a little.

◇ ◇ ◇

“By the way, I haven’t seen Ghido around. Is he fighting in the dark forest?”

It all started when I casually asked Windsor that.

I was curious about that, because Ghido loves fighting, so I thought it was strange that he wasn’t present for the battle against the heroes, even if he did already fight them once before.

Not to mention that it’s also strange, from the point of view of the demons’ fighting potential, that he wasn’t there when Ignis and the others knew Elizabeth would descend.

Of course, fighting off the attackers in the dark forest was an important role too, but it made sense to assume that protecting the demon king was more important.

“Ah, Ghido is commanding another mission.”

“Another mission?”

“Yes, attacking the capital of the Kingdom of Elesya.”

Windsor said that so casually, but there was something off about it.

Was it really necessary to split their forces to attack them at that point?

“I think it’s because the barrier around the kingdom is weaker now. We also have people cooperating with us, so they figured we should take the opportunity to take them down. That last part is just something I heard though.”

Did my face show what I was thinking?

Windsor told me the reason, but still, the barrier…

“Do you know why it’s weaker?”

“Because the holy sword is here? Ou said it was originally the cornerstone of the barrier.”

“But Ou reworked the sword or something, right? So is there really any reason why they have to do it now?”

I feel like he changed the attribute of the holy sword.

“And I guess it’s an issue of military power too. Elesya and the empire sent a lot of knights and adventurers to the dark forest. Apparently Ou and Ignis are thinking that this thinned out the defenses of the capital. Also, the barrier is weaker, but it still doesn’t allow us to use our full strength, so they said they want to attack when their numbers are down.”

I think that’s dangerous too, but they must have some plan.

They must have something going on behind the scenes, like they did with us.

I tell him that, and…

“Well, Ignis…”

He smiles awkwardly.

And he says he’s a little uneasy, because this time Ghido also took part in formulating the plan.

“But the capital…”

I honestly don’t know how to feel.

Strangely enough, I don’t really have any feelings of wanting them to take responsibility for summoning me, or getting back at them.

It’s a harsh world, but I wouldn’t have met all these people if I wasn’t summoned into it, among other things that I couldn’t have done if they didn’t summon me.

Then there’s Hikari too. I heard she went berserk when I went after Elizabeth.

She’s calm now, but there might still be some brainwashing inside her. And the king or someone else in Elesya might know how to get rid of it.

And there are also my compatriots. From what Kotori and the others say, Shun’s condition is particularly severe.

If he were to go berserk like Hikari, that would be a problem.

Ignis overpowered him, but it doesn’t change the fact that he was strong enough to defeat a dragon in a dungeon.

“I don’t think I can decide on my own…”

I’ll talk it over with the others tomorrow.
