Walking in another world – Chapter 393 – Castle – Part two

I have a simple question. But first, let’s describe what I see.

We’ve been going up the stairs, and the further up we go, the more we feel the intensity of the battle.

We see people whose armor is broken, hanging their heads. Ones whose faces are in an awful state, and were seemingly just abandoned. There’s one tied to a pillar, who faints when he sees us.

It looks worse than any battlefield I’ve seen. Not that I have a lot of experience anyway.

But what everyone we see has in common, is that they have all been restrained with that same item. Just how many did they bring?

They must’ve taken down about three hundred knights on the way here.

Well, that’s the question on my mind, but it doesn’t really matter. I guess I’m just trying to avert my eyes from reality a bit.

And the reason for that, is that the leader, the one who started this, is standing in front of me.

He says his name is Richend, which is the name I heard from Argo, so there’s no doubt about it.

Name – (End) / Job – (Beast King) / Level – (101) / Race – (Beast person) / Condition – (—)

Is what Appraisal actually tells me.

Beast King… I think I remember Rurika and Chris saying they’ve seen him before, but is this him? Well, if Appraisal says so, it has to be, unless it’s a double or something.

He’s famous for being reckless, but I haven’t heard much about him. I haven’t even been to the Beast Kingdom.

“Hou, I see some people that look strong! How about a match!?”

Says Richend with a big smile on his face, and a little girl mercilessly smacks him on the head.

According to Argo, she’s Richend’s personal straightman, along with his chaperon. I heard she had a bad temper and no mercy, but it feels to me like she’s more tired than ill-tempered.

Looking at them, I get the feeling that he’s always troubling her. I’m not saying anything, because I don’t want sparks to fly my way. And I don’t want to hear grumbling either.

“Can I assume those pendants mean you’re here to help? But that hair and eye color… Which is it?”

I tell her myself, Miharu, and Naoto were summoned here, and Hikari was born in this world. It’s strange how it all just naturally escaped my mouth.

And I’m surprised by how she understood what’s going on just by looking at us.

“I see. And I see an elf with you too. That’s surprising.”

She’s also one that treats elves with respect. I figured the whole Beast Kingdom was like that, but then again, the Beast King’s attitude stays the same, so maybe not.

I exchange information with Ryuryu. It looks like Richend wants to speak too, but she’s not letting him.

Is he really the king? The way he looks down is kind of shaking my heart.

“If you go easy on him, he’s just going to get carried away. Leave him be.”

Says Ryuryu, so I do just that.

“I see… Using elves for such a thing is unforgivable. You and you. Some people might have gone there to help already, but please go anyway. We don’t want anything to happen.”

“So Ryuryu, can I talk now?”

“Quiet.”

“But…”

“We need to do what we need to do first. If you want to fight, work first, and you can ask later.”

“S-sure, I see. So, we’re following the plan we talked about before, right?”

“Yes. Act like a bad gu… Actually, just act normally. Putting on an act would just make it feel unnatural.”

Ryuryu says they want to judge this kingdom for its crimes.

The throne room lies beyond that door, along with the king and the remaining knights.

I imagine there’s something like an escape route just for nobles in there too, but Ryuryu says that’s not a problem.

Is that because there’s no such thing, or because they’re ready to deal with it? I can’t tell from how she talks.

“So, can you all stand-by for a while? When it’s time… We’ll call you.”

“Hmph, it’s not gonna be a problem if you just leave it to me.”

Says Richend full of confidence, and Ryuryu looks to be at her wit’s end.

“Yes, I look forward to that.”

Then we meet up with someone else. Richend stands up straight when he sees him.

“And Sora is here too. Was it you who destroyed the barrier? I can use my full power thanks to that.”

It’s Ghido with a cool smile.

“Is that trash in there? Are you not attacking because there’s fierce resistance?”

“Nope. We’re preparing to judge that king.”

Answers Ryuryu.

“Hou, you’re the talented beast girl I heard about. If you have an idea, I won’t meddle.”

“Thanks. We have a lot of resentment towards this kingdom, and we’re not letting this opportunity go to waste.”

As Ghido talks with Ryuryu, Richend looks kind of flustered.

“Are you all right with that too? I’m sure you have your own grudges.”

Ghido asks us.

“…I’m fine with it. What about you, Naoto?”

“Me too. If I see him…”

He says as he sees Ryuryu getting heated. He looks really angry.

And so, we agree to stay here for now, as Richend and the others blow the door open, and charge into the throne room.

We hear the sounds of a fierce battle, but eventually, it all goes silent, and I hear a voice that reaches my ears clearly, despite the distance.
