Walking in another world – Chapter 422 – Altair’s dungeon – Ninth floor – Part three

We reach an open area in the forest, with a vast field of flowers.

“Ah, they’re telling us to watch.”

Says Chris, and when the spirits line up on top of the field of flowers, wind blows and strongly shakes the flowers.

Then light comes out of them, and the field of flowers shines brightly. The light keeps climbing, hangs in the air for a bit, slowly comes down like it’s being sucked into the flowers, and disappears.

“Incredible.”

“Yes, it sure is.”

“Beautiful…”

It looks like the spirits like our reactions, and they do it again.

“Thank you. We’re going to eat, but what about you? Yes, I see. Then see you later.”

“What did they say?”

“The spirits are going to eat too. My spirits don’t eat, so I’m kind of surprised.”

Spirits aren’t all the same. It seems some eat, some absorb power from nature, and some receive magic energy from the people they’re contracted to.

Chris heard from Morrigan that very few actually go out and seek food for themselves. Incidentally, Chris’ draw power from nature, but sometimes Chris also shares her magic energy.

“My spirits are kind, so they try not to put a burden on me.”

That means they actually want more magic energy from Chris, but are holding back.

But Chris says with a smile that since she hasn’t been using magic energy on transformation magic lately, she has more to share with them.

“Let’s eat too then.”

As we watch the spirits fly away, I lay down a sheet, and start taking food out of the Item Box.

By the way, Chris’ spirits went too.

“Being able to eat warm food like this really is handy.”

“It sure is.”

“I wish I could make item bags with the same features as my Item Box.”

But even my skills can’t do that.

“If you could make that with a skill, it would become worthless.”

“Just the fact that you can make item bags is already a big deal.”

If someone with enough influence finds out about it, they’ll try to pull me over to their faction without a doubt. Or even use their position to force me into it.

I know that, and that’s why I typically only make things for my party.

And if I need money… I can just make money selling potions.

But what’s going to happen to the prices of potions going forward, now that the threat of the demon king is gone?

“I think it will be fine. It’s not like the monsters are gone, and a lot of people are drawn to the dungeons.”

“If anything, I think people that went to the dark forest are going to want to go to dungeons, and the prices might go up.”

That’d be nice, but there was a lot of damage too. Especially to Elesya and the empire.

Elesya is fine for now, since the beast king is looking after it, but apparently the empire isn’t doing so well.

Well, from my point of view, I’ve heard from Sera what the empire did, and I’ve actually learned what kind of people they are, so while I wish there would be a big change, I think it will be difficult.

We keep chatting while eating, and eventually, the spirits come back.

Three of them start flying around Chris, and she whispers something while laughing. I think those are the spirits contracted to her.

I don’t know what they’re saying, but I can tell Chris is having fun.

Meanwhile, another one comes and joins them, and Chris makes sounds like she’s listening to it.

“Sora, this spirit is saying they want to try your food.”

She tells me, but I’m kind of bewildered.

Chris turns to the spirit as she talks, and it blinks like it’s asserting its something. I think it might be saying she’s right.

“Really?”

I ask Chris without thinking, and she nods.

Well, it’s not like she’d lie, and I guess it wouldn’t hurt even if I put out food and they didn’t eat it. It’s just a little bit of trouble…

And this is their territory. I feel like if we upset them, something bad is going to happen.

I place plates on a simple table with various kinds of food. There’s steak, soup, and stir-fry of mostly vegetables.

I feel like Chris wants to say something, but I keep going.

And as I keep doing it, more spirits start to gradually approach us. It’s not all of them, but there are the three contracted to Chris, and a few others who are watching from a distance and not moving.

“Here you go?”

I say, not feeling very confident, but when I take a step back, the spirits rush in like they were waiting for it.

The food on the plates starts disappearing quickly, like it’s being engulfed by the light.

But why does Chris look more surprised than me or Sera?
