Walking in another world – Chapter 436 – Reason (Chris’ point of view)

I wake up, and see the others are still sleeping.

Then I notice Miss Eliana isn’t around, so I head towards the big tree.

Is it because I formed a contract with her? Somehow, I know where she is.

Then I remember when we formed the contract. I felt something like Miss Eliana’s feelings being transmitted to me. Bad memories, and deep sadness.

The reason why she stayed… No, why she couldn’t move from this place, and other fragments rushed into me.

That’s why I decided to hear what she wanted to ask.

Conquering dungeons… Seven of them.

Conquering dungeons is hard for everyone, and for people with human lifespans like Sora, it might be impossible to conquer all of them without sacrificing their whole lives.

But I’m an elf. I am going to live at least ten times longer than them, so I think I fit the bill. My chest hurts a little when I think about that. Why?

“Miss Eliana, are you all right?”

“…Chris~? What is it~?”

“…I wanted to hear more.”

Miss Eliana tilts her head. Is it my imagination, or was she crying?

When I tell her things were transmitted to me when we formed a contract, she’s very surprised.

“I see~. Yes~. You accepted my request to conquer the dungeons, so you should hear it~.”

I’m surprised by what she tells me.

Gods fighting each other, missing gods… It’s all unbelievable.

“So what should I do when I go to these dungeons?”

“Investigate their deepest points~. I heard Al and Eckel talk about it~. They said that in one of the dungeons we couldn’t enter, something that should be there, wasn’t~. And they said it was suspicious~.”

“What is it?”

“I don’t really know either~. Apparently dungeons have a core in their deepest parts~. But the dungeon that was investigated didn’t~.”

I tilt my head as I hear her.

From what I know, there are only seven dungeons. No, with this one, that makes eight.

Of course, there might be more that I don’t know about, and haven’t even been discovered.

And I’ve never heard of dungeons having cores in their deepest areas either.

Maybe I’m simply ignorant about that sort of thing.

“Can I ask something?”

“What~?”

Leaving those cores aside, I have a question.

“If you knew that, why didn’t you investigate them all this time?”

“Ah~… Right after we talked about that, the fairy god attacked, and we were too busy to investigate anything. And at that point, Al pretty much couldn’t use his divine power.

Of course, he recovered that power later, and he might have asked other people too, like I just did~. You can ask his daughter about it~.”

So this fairy god attacked when they were going to start their investigation.

Should I ask grandma about it once we leave the dungeon?

And then Miss Eliana explains that since we formed a contract, I can use part of her power. That might be why her thoughts were transmitted to me.

This power I received isn’t something that boosts the strength of my magic or anything. It’s something necessary to investigate the dungeons.

It’s simple to use, all I have to do is use this power… This divine power, in the deepest part of a dungeon.

But the idea that gods who attacked dungeons were sealed might be a lie by the fairy god. Apparently Miss Eliana doesn’t trust this fairy god anyway.

I guess not immediately accepting the words of someone who was bragging was the right call.

But since there aren’t any other clues, they decided these dungeons would be their first target of exploration.

Although there is also the fact that they could not enter them.

“So, I think I will search for partners to explore these dungeons.”

“…? You won’t ask Sora and the others~?”

“…It will take time…”

“Yes~. People’s lifespans are short~.”

“Yes…”

She immediately understands what I mean.

Sora already helped me a lot, by looking for Sera and my sister. If I keep involving him, he won’t be able to do anything he wants.

When we first met, he said he wanted to walk around and see the world. At the time, we were impatient because we had no clues about my sister and Sera’s whereabouts, so I was just a little jealous and exasperated when I heard that.

Then I heard he was summoned into this world against his will, and I felt ashamed for ever feeling that way…

And that’s why I can’t have him continue to go along with me.

“I should talk about this with my sister and the others.”

Grandma Morrigan and my sister should be able to help guide me.

But, as if denying what I’m saying, I hear a voice.

“You don’t have to be so reserved. If it were me, I would just ask Sora.”

It’s Mia, who was sleeping until just now.

By the way, I’d like to personally thank you, Hidamarisou, for this website and your work in general. I know you’re just translating the work of other authors, but I still really enjoy reading these stories, and I personally love your writing style. You have inspired me to write my own stories, and I will make sure to use a format similar to this, because it is the best, in my opinion.

Also, I’m not sure how many times you have been reminded, but we usually say “alright” instead of “all right”. To be honest though, I’d like to continue seeing “all right” (at least in the existing webnovels) because that is what I am used to.
