About the case of destruction flags being demolished after a nichiasa loving otaku was reincarnated as a villainous student – Chapter 100 – The wonders of non-native species

“I don’t see the twin swords user anywhere. Did he leave already?”

“If he’s not here, he’s not here. The guards are here, so we’ll just have to manage with just us.”

Meanwhile, Melt and Angel, who had no idea what Isaac was up to, talked about how he was nowhere to be found.

The two girls stopped counting on the boy that suddenly appeared, and disappeared before they knew it, as Phi called out to Skull and Yuugo, who were positioned a little further away.

“What’s wrong, big brother? You look so serious…”

“Ah, I was just wondering what kind of monster armor beast attacked Skull and the other horses. Why did it attack the horses? I was thinking about that.”

“Why it attacked the horses? For fun or something…?”

“Well, I just get a different feeling compared to the other monster armor beasts I’ve faced. It’s like it’s not a living being…”

Yuugo thought back to the monster armor beasts he faced, and told his little brother something felt off. Basically, it was like it was not just following its instincts as a living being.

Putting Rush aside, Yuugo faced Arachlaw and the Toad Stinger, but monster armor beasts felt like they were following their instincts.

Arachlaw attacked the magic train and took its passengers because they fed on humans and used them as seedbed.

The Toad Stinger attacked the settlement to expand its territory, and to use its inhabitants as its puppets.

The means were terrible and mysterious, but the goals were quite simple. It was just the result of them following their urges as living beings.

Whether it was called appetite, or thirst for survival, all living beings followed their instincts, and Yuugo knew that the actions of monster armor beasts were rooted on this principle.

“…But it was different this time, right? It didn’t attack to eat or gain allies. It killed the horses for sport. But what was its real motive?”

“It does sound off. Maybe it’s a monster armor beast that is just that cruel?”

It was almost certain that the being brutal enough to kill every single one of those fast horses was a monster armor beast. It was the fact that it seemingly killed for sport that stuck out to Yuugo.

As Phi said, it could be that a very cruel monster armor beast had appeared, but the corpses of the horses were too clean. And it was strange that there were not any other victims.

Yuugo racked his brain looking for anything they might have missed… When he suddenly arrived at a possibility.

“Could it be that they hunted… To establish a hierarchy…!?”

“Eh…!?”

Yuugo whispered while thinking about a certain group of kaijin, and Phi looked surprised.

Could it be that monster armor beasts attacked the horses to decide who was the boss of the group and establish a pecking order… He thought, and went into it more deeply.

(Could it be… That Skull and the others weren’t the first? And they actually hunted something before and got that knowledge…!?)

Much like how Skull learned the thirst for revenge from having its life and the lives of its friends taken, maybe the monster armor beasts faced something they would normally not encounter, and learned to hunt for sport.

Maybe they hunted something weaker first, and attacked the horses to up the difficulty?

Yuugo remembered the kaijin he thought of doing something similar.

They killed people like it was a game, and continued with progressively harsher conditions. And this species that loved combat felt happy about rising through the pecking order of their group through successful hunts.

Maybe a similar group of monster armor beasts attacked the horses. But as he thought about the reason why they started hunting for sport, he remembered the monster armor beast that caused trouble not too long ago, and pressed his mouth while groaning.

(That black crab again!? Did they also run here, and not just the Yum Yum Mountain? Then…!!)

Those small crabs ran here, picked a fight with monster armor beasts they found… And were wiped out.

And these monster armor beasts learned the pleasures of abusing the weak, and started using it to form a pecking order.

They were not happy with the easy to crush small crabs, and wanted to use stronger prey to decide who was the strongest among them.

And then, they found Skull and the other horses, and attacked them to decide their leader.

If this theory was right, that meant there was a good chance there was not just one enemy, and instead a group led by the one that was established as a leader.

First it was small crabs, then horses, and the next strong prey was without a doubt humans.

The moment Yuugo figured that they might be heading there because they learned there was a settlement in that direction, he heard the voices of the guards echoing in the dark of the night.
