“Dammit, I didn’t make it in time… My fire magic crystal…!!”
Isaac used the Covert skill to erase his presence while watching the back-and-forth between Skull and Yuugo and the others, and stomped the ground with frustration over not being able to get the fire magic crystal he was after.
The pain of being run over by the Bull Golems made him faint, but he rushed to use a healing item as soon as he woke up, and ran over there, but… It was all too late.
Going all the way there from the Luminous Academy was for nothing. He failed to get the quest reward.
The unexpected good fortune that was meeting Angel was canceled out by failing to get the fire magic crystal, which was his goal from the start.
For Isaac, failing to get it was an unbelievably painful blow.
(Not good, not good…! How am I going to fight without an element…!?)
As explained before, Isaac used twin swords whose individual attacks were light, but could be used to attack repeatedly and quickly.
The weak point of this strategy was that it meant it was hard to deal damage to monsters with high defense, like Bull Golems.
But he had ways to compensate for that, such as dealing damage by ways other than physical, through elemental attacks.
If his twin swords had the fire element, each attack would deal damage from the slash, plus magic damage from the element.
That would mean being able to deal magic damage to monsters with high physical defense, making fights safer for him.
But to make an elemental weapon, he needed the appropriate magic crystal.
He knew he had to make up for that shortcoming, so he accepted this quest to get the materials to make an elemental weapon, but… He never expected that one wrong choice would make his plans crumble completely.
(Dammit! I shouldn’t have let the skeleton horse go to increase Angel’s favorability. How am I going to fight hard enemies from now on with these weapons…!?)
Again, Isaac stuck to the condition of playing by himself, and that did not change after he was reincarnated in another world.
That meant his weapons were more important to him than to a normal player, since he could not rely on his party. And his weapons not being up to snuff put him in a bad spot.
He started thinking about getting Yuugo to give him the magic crystal, but since he got attached to the skeleton horse to the point of giving it a name, there was no way he would let go of a gift that was proof of its friendship.
He could challenge him to a duel, but there was little chance he would accept. Not that he had anything that could match how much a magic crystal was worth anyway.
His last resort would be to attack him from behind and take it, but that came with a big risk.
If, somehow, he got caught, he would become another Zenon. And how would he use the magic crystal after taking it from Yuugo anyway? If he tried to get an elemental weapon made, people would be suspicious.
He felt frustrated, because no matter how much he thought, he saw no choice other than giving up. He had to let go of the elemental weapon that supported his solo play so much, and felt irritated over this whole situation.
Isaac clenched his teeth, and expressed the emotions smoldering in his chest. He felt a strong fixation while he watched the red magic crystal in Yuugo’s hands.
“I need a strong weapon… Something stronger than an elemental one, that will let me stick to my solo play style…!”
For someone who idealized the idea of a solitary hero, a strong weapon had to be his only partner.
With a strong weapon, no one could beat him. That was how good his stats and knowledge were.
He wanted a strong weapon. He was not satisfied with his twin swords. He had to get stronger equipment…
As a solo player, as a reincarnated person aiming to be a hero in this world, Isaac wanted power.
These feelings would cause an incredible uproar and a tragedy for himself… But Isaac had no way of knowing that, and just continued to clench his fists out of frustration.

Some comments, because I love this story so much!
Yuugo would gladly duel with Isaac. Yuugo would just see it as a good opportunity to gain some experience and possible become friends. Also, there’s no chance that Isaac could ever win. Yuugo really can do anything when he puts his mind to it, because he’s a true hero.
There’s no chance Isaac could steal it. Yuugo is going to hold onto that thing tighter than I hold onto my phone when I’m in the rain.
Yeah. The tragedy will be him getting bested by Yuugo somehow, obviously. I still like this writing style though. It’s like the author’s saying “Gugogogogog!” at the end of every chapter. 🙂
Probably no single person alone. However, Yuugo and his team will be able to handle any threat. They could probably handle like 10 demon kings from 10 other isekai stories, all at once!
As always, thanks for the translations! I think it’s hillarious how Isaac thinks there’s any chance of him surpassing Yuugo.
Neat. The firely thing converts emojis. 😀
Bro solo-played the game with little to no back-up plan~
Idiot, I guess~?
Tbf you don’t really need much of a back up plan when you’re playing a linear single player game. I do think it definitely should be possible For him to obtain a magic stone some other way though
