“Of course she’s happy. It was kinda prompted by her, but the guy she’s interested in asked her out on a date.”
“Well… I don’t really get that sort of thing…”
“Of course not, you’re still a kid.”
While the date was happening, Angel had a mug filled with coffee in one hand, as she spoke with Phi in a policy room of the technical department.
After speaking with an awkward smile to the still young Phi, Angel continued.
“Are you lonely without your big brother?”
“No. Even I know that sticking with him twenty four seven would be a bother. And it’s important that he has his private time.
Not to mention that Melt has been supporting my brother all this time, after he lost his memory… I want to root for them too.”
“That’s admirable. You really are a good little brother. Still, fufu! Getting all nervous while asking her out… That Yuugo is a funny guy.”
Angel heard from Phi and Melt about how Yuugo was nervous when he asked Melt out, but said it with determination. Imagining that almost made her do a spit take.
The guy she met a few days before, Isaac, said he was scum that went through one girl after the other, but… Yuugo treated Melt with sincerity when she looked a little annoyed.
What she saw and what she heard were completely different. It just made her realize even more that gossip was not something to be trusted, but then a question popped into her head.
(I heard Yuugo lost his memory, but how much? How much has he remembered at this point?)
She heard he lost his memory after being injured in a duel, but she was curious about the knowledge he seemed to have about things she never saw or heard about.
He also seemed to reference words of people that appeared to be important figures, but that led her to believe he had not completely lost his memory.
Apparently he also picked up magic energy control right away, so… But then again, it was unnatural how his common sense seemed completely gone as well.
It was like a leaf being eaten by a bug, with parts of it missing. In fact, maybe it was correct to say he only remembered pointless things.
“…Oh well. He’ll remember everything eventually.”
She thought about it that far, but in the end, she was not a doctor or any sort of person who researched the human brain. She had no real insight on Yuugo’s memory loss.
Time healed most things, so what she had to do was strengthen and maintain his magic item. She decided to stop that pointless train of thought, and Phi asked a question while she let out a big yawn.
“Is there anything you’re doing today, An? Like in remodeling Blaster?”
“Unyah. Yuugo took Blaster, so I’m free. Apparently he thinks he should always have Blaster with him, after what happened with Skull.”
“I see… Well, I doubt another incident will happen so soon, but it makes sense to be cautious.”
It seemed boorish to take a magic item with him on a date, but Melt also wore her Seward Ring, so that was nothing to be concerned about.
Things had been turbulent lately, so Phi thought to himself that it really was a good idea for Yuugo to keep Blaster with him.
“I’ve more or less finished the plans to use the fire magic crystal too, and I turned down other jobs, so I have nothing to do. I might as well take the opportunity to take it easy today. A lot of people here in the technical department have been feeling unwell because they’ve been working too much, so I need to rest and make sure that doesn’t happen to me.”
“Yes. People have been working too hard to restore the academy.”
“That’s part of it, but like Hercus said, regular curriculum students have been asking to strengthen or make new magic items non-stop. And we just can’t handle it all.”
Students were in a frenzy to join the ones who were seen as potential heroes, so they tried to make themselves stronger.
Phi remembered hearing this from Hercus, and his expression turned sour. Himself and his brother had little interest in that, but other students were desperately trying to strengthen their arms. He looked down, and hoped his brother would not be roped into this bothersome conflict.
“I gave Yuugo a magic item he can use for communications, but he hasn’t really used it. I’ll just go take a nap.”
“That’s a good idea. I’ll go back to my room and rest a bit too…”
“Fufu, why not nap with me? You have just the right body type to make a nice hugging pillow… Don’t you want to lie down with your big sister here?”
“N-no! Please stop making fun of me!”
Phi’s face turned red, as he responded to Angel making fun of him the same way as before, while lowering the zipper of her jumpsuit.
Angel laughed at his innocent reaction, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was a warm sunny weekend in the Luminous Academy, and a peaceful, calm time.
